Often – Palm Trees (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , , |

“The mood is warm fuzzy blankets on a beach wile a sunset is happening. The lyrics are deep and very well filtered with a bit of recording magic. Slow steady tempo sets the tone. ”

Artist said about this song:

“I had a best friend that I would refer to as my longest relationship. We spent our 20’s partying and weeping all over New York’s lesbian dance floors. It was exactly how your 20’s should go, including how abruptly it all seems to end. There was so much buried beneath our friendship, so when I moved away and started to know and see myself more clearly I really couldn’t avoid our disjointed roots. Last year was particularly hard, as it was for literally everyone, but it also gave me a lot of time to sit and stew and work things out and be mad in ways I never gave myself the grace to be. One night when I got near the end of that rope it was about 2 in the morning and I just needed to do something with all the energy. I started playing these very simple chords and this sweet melody formed and turned into “Palm Trees”. There’s kind of a knot in the song, a lump in your throat of all the things left unsaid, but it’s ultimately a simple goodbye. An acknowledgement of what was and the peace of knowing when it’s time to turn the page.”

Born in the flat plains of Ohio, Often (they/she) hunts for what can carve her out. A natural wanderer, they shifted their perspectives in the Arizona desert, the mountains of France, and the crowded streets of New York. After achieving early dreams of being a working photographer, Often began slowly sinking deeper into their infatuation with the transformational nature of sound. First fitting themselves into an electronic chill pop duo called DIMES, they played small shows in Brooklyn dives until they escaped to and ultimately transformed from life in Atlanta, Georgia.

Often has been discovered on several Spotify Editorial Playlists, was featured on the series finale of Showtime’s Golden Globe winning show “The Affair,” and has a genuine investment in making connection with her audience, hosting a Weekly Reground each Wednesday evening offering a safe space to center themselves and others. Often aims to provide the calm, euphoric experience of healing within her music. Little spells to release our truest selves.

WEIRDO – TRANSCENDENCE (Video)

Categories: Blogwave, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“”Weirdo” is back with the always favourite Indie R&B style. Rich mix, with electronic patterns, smooth flow and creative progression. An alternate expression of a love story that finally fades away in a fake reality. Too artistic to miss!”

-Nagamag.com

After releasing his first single of the year, UK based singer-songwriter WEIRDO returns with a brooding, dark and eluding song ‘TRANSCENDENCE’, his second release taken from the upcoming debut mixtape/LP: ‘A MIXTAPE FOR HEARTBREAK’.

Accompanied by a sensational, surrealist and trippy 3D music video directed and created by Lucas Saidl and his visual collective ‘NotReal_Virtual’, TRANSCENDENCE sends you on an audial and visual journey through a broken relationship where love, betrayal, heartbreak and loss combine in an ethereal way.

Written, mixed and produced by WEIRDO in his Berlin based recording studio, a degraded drum beat joins forces with his signature nonchalant vocal style and a moody synth melody to result in a stunning “hit-repeat-again” track.

The song sets the scene for what’s about to come from his upcoming 10 track mixtape/LP, set for release in Autumn 2021.

BIO:

When first emerging from his home studio a few years back, WEIRDO, also known as Josh Christopher, started out by releasing a demo called ‘Disco’ via Majestic Casual’s YouTube channel which quickly spun up a fuss and amassed more than 1 million plays within a few months… he then disappeared.

He later re-emerged from silence by spontaneously releasing a pair of odd-pop singles named ‘BUTTER’ and ‘ARMANIO’, which both received #1’s on Hype Machine and Human Human.

‘SAPPHIRE’ was his next musical manoeuvre in which he collaborated with some musical friends; on drums Debbie Knox-Hewson (Charli XCX, Nasty Cherry) and on bass Pierre Leck. Renowned photographer James Perolls took press pictures for the release.

After a little more silent treatment, he dropped ‘ATTITUDE’ which landed on Spotify with a New Music Friday UK addition alongside support from Apple Music’s UK playlists.

Press came from some of the blogosphere’s most respected outlets such as W Magazine, Pigeons and Planes, DIY, Clash and Line of Best Fit.

Annie Mac announced WEIRDO in her New Names playlist on her BBC Radio 1 show whilst it was also included in the BBC Introducing Best Of playlist by Huw Stephens.

He took, yet again, another short hiatus whilst diving into the working life to pay the bills, make some new music for his other project IYES, and “grow up a little bit”.

Christopher, previously of indie pop duo IYES, had a Billboard Dance Club Chart #1 alongside being signed to Sony UK.

In 2020, he returned with singles EUROTRASH, FAKIN’ and some other B-side tracks.

BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders was the first to support alongside BBC 6Music, BBC H+W, Amazing Radio, Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Pop playlist, and online outlets such as Vice/Noisey, Wonderland, Complex and EARMILK.

His latest and first release from his upcoming mixtape/LP, ‘CAN’T WITHOUT YOU’, a song co-written with acclaimed hitmaker A7S, received praise on Spotify’s Fresh Finds: Pop playlist once again, from Apple Music’s NEW IN INDIE playlist and Anghami’s Alternative Pop playlist.

WEIRDO once again proved he is not just a flash in the pan and reignited the flame of media buzz for the third time.

WEIRDO defines his life experiences lyrically and sonically. He bounces between lo-fi production techniques (using vintage synths, putting sounds to tape machines and playing with random musical toys) and throws freshness and modern elements into the pot with electro-pop sounds.

andreas owens – bad4you (Spotify)

“Are you looking for some light sound after a busy, tiring day? Then, we strongly recommend Andreas Owens new single. Alternative style with pleasant touch and expressive singing. The suitable elixir for your ears and mind relaxation is just ready.”

-Nagamag.com

Los Angeles-based producer and singer-songwriter andreas owens releases his 5-track debut EP, aptly titled almost everything i've ever wanted to say, an intimate and vulnerable R&B-infused pop record showcasing his ingenious and versatile songwriting. The EP follows a series of singles – “don’t feel happy”, “falling & falling”, and “not much (better than before)” – all of which received high praise by the likes of publications Banger Of The Day, Before The Data, DUMMY Mag, Fashionably Early, Substream Magazine, and We Found New Music; inevitably landing editorial placements on Spotify (Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds: Pop, and Study Break) and TIDAL (Rising: Pop).

QUOTE

“‘almost everything i’ve ever wanted to say’ is truthfully that — it is in every way, nearly everything I’ve ever wanted to say musically, lyrically, sonically, experimentally, and emotionally. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to create and complete a work like this; something where I’ve sat in my room and slowly worked from beginning to end without any real goal in mind. Almost like I’m reading a book about my life, piecing together one experience after another but not quite knowing where or how the story ends.”

-andreas owens

'almost everything i've ever wanted to say'

The mentality and overall vision behind andreas owens has been pretty different to that of The Millennial Club. Ironically, the biggest distinction between the two projects lies less in the final product, but more so within the creative process itself.

Adapting an “anything goes” mindset helped facilitate a lack of pressure to fit within a specific genre and andreas owens quickly found himself enjoying the refreshing freedom present in creating without convention. This unadulterated creative energy ultimately led to the birth of almost everything i’ve ever wanted to say: a diverse and genre-blending EP that not only reflects his personal growth as a songwriter and producer, but surely defines his personal footprint as a truly generational artist.

BIOGRAPHY

andreas owens is the solo project of Los Angeles-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Andres Owens, the lead vocalist of indie pop and R&B band The Millennial Club. Delicately blending intimate vocals with unabashedly ‘pop’ backbeats, the So-Cal native has been slowly but steadily building a catalogue of truly unique material. Embracing the ever-evolving notion of bedroom pop, everything is written, recorded, and produced in his (tiny) bedroom-turned-studio.

In his own words, “It’s the only way I’ve found it to feel authentically myself. The safe, familiar space is the catalyst for facilitating something visceral and unapologetically my own. It allows me to release my compulsive ‘perfectionist mindset’ and instead create with the understanding that mistakes are inevitably a unique and beautiful part of the process that makes it my own.”

Track Commentary by andreas owens

“bad4you”

“‘bad4you’ is likely the first song I’ve ever written where I can truly say I understood the significance of every sonic and conceptual decision. I’m not sure why, but with ‘bad4you’ in particular, I felt like something just clicked and suddenly everything made sense to my brain. Writing and arranging the song became less about convention and expectation, and more about what I felt the song needed, throwing caution to the wind, and consciously letting the song finish itself. I think in doing that – in a sense, giving myself to the song and not trying to dictate its final form – I found a place of comfort knowing I wasn’t forcing anything into the track that perhaps didn’t belong. Through the process I think it came into focus that production is, in every sense, a language, and producing ‘bad4you’ really helped widen my vocabulary.”

Chain Of Islands – Shelter (Video)

Categories: Jazz, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Impressive accession, in the entire track with a shift in R & B that excites and paralyzes. Beautiful voice, gentle and measured bits, solid charm. -Shelter- leads on goosebumps with its angelic vocals and strong ending. Incredibly nice to listen and enjoy.”

“Впечатляющее вступление, а весь трек с уклоном в R&B возбуждает и парализует. Прекрасный припев, нежный и размеренный бит, слушать который сплошное очарование. -Shelter- пробирает на мурашки, ангельские голоса вокалистов, сильная концовка, невероятно приятно слушать и наслаждаться.”

-Nagamag.com

Chain of Islands has premiered the official music video for their latest ballad track “Shelter” exclusively on CLOUT. The pop duo – made up of Nick Goins and Derek Vautrinot – have creatively crafted a video that not only offers fans a beautiful performance of the track, but gives a sense of nostalgia with its black and white film elements reminiscent of old-Hollywood film. The duo’s performance in the visual is an emotional reflection of the song’s meaning of healing, and having faith in one’s own strength.

“The video for ‘Shelter’ is an effort to capture the feeling of self reflection throughout the times. An isolated moment on the couch when you can take an honest look inward to reflect on who you are and where you’re going, and how the feeling must have felt in any era, past to future.” – Chain of Islands

Chain of Islands is a pop duo originally formed in Boston, MA and currently split between Orange County, CA and Providence, RI. Nick and Derek both met through playing in heavier rock acts (Lions Lions and Que Sera) from the New England area. After years of heavily touring the rock/hardcore scene, both members decided to collaborate and pursue new creative avenues leading to the birth of Chain of Islands. The band is excited to release their debut EP slated for release this summer.

Madison Beer – Reckless (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“The successful singer "Madison Beer" shares her work and feelings with us. "Reckless" is a song for those who have betrayed their other half. It reveals their ignorance and untrustworthy behaviour. On the contrary, Madison's heartwarming voice can offer a soothing touch to many broken hearts outhere.”

-Nagamag.com

Madison Beer releases “Reckless,” a powerful vocal statement from the rising pop star and the first single to come from her next project. The soaring track, co-written and co-produced by Madison, follows the announcement of the US and Canada leg of her Life Support Tour (tickets on sale now).

“’Reckless’ was written about how easy it is for some people in relationships to hurt others and move on without any guilt,” says Madison. “People have so much power over their partner’s feelings, yet many still choose to treat each other carelessly. I believe there is a balance to putting ourselves and our feelings first, while knowing we have the responsibility of treating people with respect, kindness, and consideration. It’s so important to find that balance in every relationship and knowing when to move on if you can't.”

“Reckless” follows Madison’s debut album, Life Support, her strongest personal and artistic statement to date, which was released earlier this year to critical acclaim. The album has accumulated over 700 million streams to date after debuting at no. 1 on US iTunes, no. 1 on Spotify US's Album Chart, no. 2 on Spotify Global's Album Chart and in the Top 30 of the UK Official Album Chart. Life Support includes singles “Selfish,” Madison’s fastest ever gold-certified record, and “BOYSHIT,” which Billboard called “one of the best pop chorus openings of 2020.” She has attracted the endorsements of The Guardian, The Sunday Times, i-D, NME, Clash, V Magazine, Paper, and Rolling Stone (who hailed her a “rising popstar”). Globally, Madison has over 3 billion streams across her catalogue to date, and a social following of over 25 million on Instagram, 14 million on TikTok, and 3 million on Twitter.

Uto Paradise – Falling Star (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Jazz, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , , , |

“The track provides a powerful dose of relaxation with a cup of cool tea. The overall sound is so simple that quickly sticks and stays in your head. Its light taste of funk, jazz and chill-hop leaves a lasting positive impression.”

“Трек даёт мощную дозу расслабляющего, прохладного чая. Общее звучание максимально простое, что быстро запоминается и остаётся в голове. Лёгкий привкус funk, jazz и chill-hop оставляет неизгладимое впечатление.”

-Nagamag.com

This song is our take on how it must feel having a Martini in The Restaurant at the End of the Universe (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) whilst a falling star is streaking across the sky.

Uto Paradise is a Zurich-based bunch of instrumentalists having a rather hard time ever since trying to get by without a lead singer. It is a well-known fact, tough, at least since Khruangbin, that lead singing became a »qualité négligeable«. Rejoicing over this dictate of the moment and seizing the opportunity, Uto Paradise displays a groovy panoply of instrumental indie-jazz paired with comforting ambient elements.

Datcha – Collapse (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , , |

“Interesting Pop song with Alternative influences recently released in the album of "Datcha". Melodic piano keys, very soft percussion and slow tempo. All accompanied by gentle singing voices that reveal a high level of production.”

-Nagamag.com

DATCHA is a new Boston-based bedroom-pop band from ThatOneEyedKid and Julie Friedman. T1EK and Julie began DATCHA’s debut self-titled record in the first weeks of quarantine of spring 2020 and was recorded at their home studio in Brighton, MA. DATCHA builds off of elements of dream-pop with an experimental bent, exploring themes of obsession, isolation, longing, and devotion.

While T1EK has released several indie-pop EPs and singles, DATCHA sees the veteran producer (Jenna Lotti, Kat Kennedy, Anna Madsen) digging deeper and darker in both narrative and sound. Blending with Julie’s intense, soulful voice, the full length reflects a year of two lovers enduring intense pain and chaos, and emerging with earned strength, unity, and love.

In addition to ThatOneEyedKid’s production and writing and Julie’s voice, the record is fleshed out with remote-session-work from bassist David White (The Illusionist, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), drummer Adam Soucy (Elsewhere, Daniel Costa), and mastering by Bradford Krieger (Big Nice Studio).

T1EK and Julie have performed together for years and have toured internationally performing ThatOneEyedKid material as a duo. They are veterans of the European house-concert circuit and have played extensively around New England. DATCHA shows the two in a collaboration and intimacy like never before. They look forward to bringing DATCHA to live audiences as soon as possible.

Erik Frank – Let Go Of You (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“With a nickname like ‘Melody Genius’ Erik Frank has a lot to live up to with his new track ‘Let Go Of You’ & he does not disappoint. A blend of R&B Pop & Hip Hop, the deep, rich, melodic vocals are in a word superb. The orchestral arrangement is world class, the staccato violins at times reminiscent of ‘Eleanor Rigby’ and the lyrics are as you would expect poetic. A top notch production from a top notch artist. ”

-Nagamag.com

From a small village to the top radio charts, ERIK FRANK has amassed over 100% million streams and is a uniquely talented singer/songwriter.

Nicknamed Melody Genius by Grammy Nominated producer Jayson DeZuzio (Imagine Dragons), and anyone Erik works with, the 22-year-old had humble beginnings.

Born in village of just 200 people, the idea of becoming a star was the very definition of a long shot. Getting out wasn’t easy. Moving from Spain to France, the U.K. and finally landing the U.S., Erik’s formative years and global experience began to permeate his music. His blend of R&B, Pop and Hip Hop is as unique as the countries he’s lived in.
