Saxongroove – Open Doors (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, House, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Very interesting release in the House scene with a bit of jazzy taste. When the acoustic meets the electronic, you have "Open Doors". Needless to say that to produce such a track is not an easy job for every artist, but a piece of cake for some old masters like "Saxongroove". Don't skip this!”

-Nagamag.com

Open Doors' is a laidback, deep jazzy house track that is as smooth as they come. Featuring a mix of organic percussions, a groovy bassline, a melodic piano topline and a saxophonic surprise, 'Open Doors' will definitely take you back to the jazzy, soulful sounds of late 1990s/early 2000s deep house.

Transient Lines – Calm Unrest (Spotify)

“Taken from the latest "Transient Lines" EP this track is not just another Downtempo single, but carries some kind of magic. The artist attracts your attention with gentle wave patterns and a variety of sophisticated sounds. A true elixir, which we loved from the first listening. Congratulations!”

-Nagamag.com

Transient Lines is the electronic solo project of Max Lanzinger.

The combination of rather dark spheric elements with driving beats could be a rough description of his music.

Calm Unrest is a testimony of his drive as a musician that arises from a certain inner restlessness. At the same time the contradictory title aims to describe a felt quietude and peace whilst getting lost in the process of creating music.

Adibanti – The Overflow (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, House, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“"The Overflow" is a mix of House with Garage influences. The artist has combined his soft, elusive voice with some catchy synth loops. A very nice example of personal creation, which has nothing to do with typical music patterns.”

With the world finally starting to slowly recover from a year of a global pandemic, raging protests, and toppling economies, 2020’s silver-lining was that it gave people time to reflect on what is truly important for the future. For Adibanti, aka Rory J Nelson, he took the time to double down on himself musically and craft some of the best records of his career. One of those recordings, entitled “The Overflow”, is set to come out on June 18th and is a layered composition built on a garage beat but contains thoughtful songwriting that muses about the volatile nature of our current world.

’This tune has been on a real journey and is about living in the modern era. With so much difference of opinion, 2021 is a notoriously tricky age to navigate. Express and love’

Natalie Duque – Silence Hurts More (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“There are voices that just grab you from the first word. Natalie Duque has such a voice. From the EP Gemini which is Natalie’s birth sign, the exquisite, sensitive second track ‘Silence Hurts More’ not only describes Natalie’s vulnerable side it also illustrates how you can view things from more than one perspective, and is the flip side of the first track. Beautifully deep.”

-Nagamag.com

Artist shared with Nagamag few words behind this song:

"My mini-EP "Gemini" is based on my astrology sign, which is represented by the symbol of the twin and associated with a dual-natured personality. I wanted to show that dichotomy on this mini-EP by musically expressing two sides of the same coin. "Know Me Better" is a more sassy, in your face take on a challenging relationship, and "Silence Hurts More" is the softer, more vulnerable side of things. The concept behind this mini-EP is that it’s possible to view an experience from two separate lenses, and both can be true." - Natalie Duque

If there’s one thing that makes Los Angeles Americana pop artist Natalie Duque happy, it’s a sad song. The singer-songwriter infuses soulful folk melodies into a pop delivery garnered with poetic lyricism. Through evocative and comforting vocals, she communicates feelings of truth, connectedness and vulnerability.

Born in Queens, NY and raised by a single mom, Duque was often left to her own devices as a child, often choosing the company of music over kids her own age. “I am a highly empathetic person; I’ve always struggled with taking on the emotions of the people around me,” she says. “But with music, it’s the opposite. Losing myself in a song has always put me at ease.”

After trying her hand at songwriting for the first time at thirteen, she soon grew fixated, finding an outlet for her emotions through song that provided her with comfort and healing. Heartfelt songs flowed easily for the artist, allowing her to connect with her emotions. Later on, the songstress began sharing her artistry in order to help others find a kindred solace in her music. After pursuing a career as a middle school special education teacher, Natalie couldn’t ignore the voice inside her head telling her that she should be focusing on her music instead. One day, she decided to put it all on the line: Natalie quit her teaching job and decided to launch her music career.

Since then, she has carved out a niche for herself as a sought-after songwriter for herself in addition to other artists, writing with Grammy Award-nominated songwriters like Cam, whose co-write on Natalie’s single "When I Fall," has been placed in the indie film, “The Fall.” She learned to play the guitar, and has also made a name for herself as an in-demand session vocalist, lending her voice to soundtracks for movies such as Black Christmas, The First Purge, and Happy Death Day. Duque has also worked with producer and songwriter Tyler Johnson (Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles) on her song “Maybe”. The artist’s third and latest EP, Brave is Beautiful, was released in 2018 and was produced by Wayne G. Miller (Christina Perri). It showcases her strongest and boldest foray into the pop singer-songwriter space.

Natalie Duque’s sound charts a course through pop sensibility, country-influenced lyrics, and Americana-inspired instrumentation, and the destination is an experiential musicality filled with expressions of pain lifted by soothing hope. Drawing inspiration from Miranda Lambert’s playful lyricism and Adele’s no-holds-barred honesty, Natalie culls moments from her own life and sets them to melodies that meander gracefully over plucked guitar strings, coming alive through her soul-baring lyrics.

I Shiver – Too Many Miles (Spotify)

“With a very distinct yet softly performed, heart felt vocal melody, ‘Too Many Miles’ by I shiver is a song that describes the pain of being far away from someone you love. The instrumentation is fittingly gentle, yet deep. The sentiment is portrayed by the vocalist with great emotion & a great deal of controlled anguish. Heads-Up - You will need hankies folks.”

Jake Aaron – Give Me Your Horse (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Jazz, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Reading like a British musician’s who’s who cast, the line-up of the band includes among other celebs, non-other than Pink Floyd bassist ‘Guy Pratt’ Don’t let that fool you into thinking Psychedelic Rock though. Think instead a Hammond organ right out of the 70’s, and Mexican style western movie theme type trumpet. ‘Give Me Your Horse’ by Jake Aaron is creative & a lot of fun.”

Jake Aaron is a British guitarist and songwriter whose first EP of acoustic pieces was released in 2015 to positive reviews from folk and indie reviewers, gaining him a small, appreciative audience.

His 2018 single “Give Me Your Horse” was a bigger, jazzier number which had airplay on both Folk stations as well as Jazz including the BBC’s Jazz Nights. His debut album “Fag Ash and Beer” was released in September 2019, a collection of songs, longer lyrical offerings and instrumentals. It was nominated for Debut Album of The Year by Fatea Magazine.

"One of the most surprisingly good albums I've heard in a very long time.” Roots & Fusion

"Simply calling Aaron a guitarist and songwriter is a little like calling Warhol a painter - it misses the mark by miles." Tim Carroll - FolkWords

"This next one is a treat. It's fun, it's creative, it’s written very intelligently, it's played very well by Jake Aaron the guitarist and the band - Steve Lodder on Hammond, Guy Pratt on bass, Marc Parnell on drums, Steve Waterman on trumpet - some of the best players in the UK. It's unusual, it's also gonna put a smile on your face. Think Mariachi, think 1800s, kind of Western, America, Mexico and this will finally seal it for you - the track title - Give Me Your Horse! Give Me Your Horse! What a brilliant name! I think there's a Movie Soundtrack in this one actually..."" Linley Hamilton, BBC Ulster Jazz World with Linley Hamilton
