Borey – Hyperborea (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Borey is the project of the young St. Petersburg producer , and his new track 'Hyperborea' is an amazing symbiosis of classical chillwave and experimental idm. This work is a vivid example of how crystal clear sound and harmonious synth-wave melodies are intertwined with rare inclusions of field recordings, vibration of strings and live, mesmerizing guitar.”

“Проект молодого петербургского продюсера Borey, чья музыка являет собой удивительный симбиоз классического chillwave и экспериментального idm, выпустил в свет свой новый трек 'Hyperborea'. Данная работа яркий пример того, как кристальный, чистый звук и гармоничные мелодии synth-wave, переплетаются с редкими вкраплениями полевых записей, вибрацией струн и живой, завораживающей гитары.”

Borey - the producer from Saint-Petersburg, Russia presented his second single - Hyperborea.

Continuing to delve into ancient Greek mythology, this time Borey decides to voice the story of Hyperborea, a mysterious Northern country, the ancestral home of mankind, where groves and forests were people's dwelling, where they did not know what is disease and strife.

Even death came to the Hyperboreans as a release from the satiety of life, and, having experienced all the pleasures, they threw themselves into the sea, but at will could be reborn after death.

Having replaced the synth-wave aesthetic with an acoustic sound saturated with live instruments and various percussion and glitches, Borey steps on the ground of ethno-fusion and significantly expands the boundaries of his own creativity.

Hyperborea is a musical eclecticism in which you can hear both dub and art rock, atmospheric soundscapes and analog synthesis. Special attention should also be paid to the string section, which adds even more dreaminess and cinematography to the composition.

Dunt’s second release of 2020 (from forthcoming album‘Starter Pact’) is a dusty, head-noddy collaboration with singer/ composer/ sound-designer Sam West, taking influences from Flying Lotus, Amon Tobin and JamesBlake. The track has already secured national and local radio airplay (BBC, Amazing Radio, Radio Kaos Carribou and more) and music video due for release on Thursday 3rd of December.

Other-worldly, anxious and meditative- made up of equal parts poignant vocals, butchered breaks, shimmering synths and guttural bass- ‘Dark Between Stars’ explores the seemingly insignificant spaces that make up the bigger picture

Benbo – Room In A Box – Original Version (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“What is hidden in this room in a box? Benbo and Michelle Bee don't afraid to innovate, stepping outside of usual forma they represent. Giving us in a most beautiful minimal way, a sensual acid house, which becomes dangerous addictive! Try it! ”

-Nagamag.com

Pink Lizard Music's pxnklxzrd imprint released Benbo & Michelle Bee's non-COVID acid anthem ‘Room In A Box’ on Nov 20, complete with a Hannah Holland remix, a shiny new radio re-version, and a loose-limbed Caucasian funk live version with the Pink Lizard All-Stars, that recalls the baggy heyday of the early 90s.

https://facebook.com/faceybenbo

Digital renaissance man Benbo is the multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, producer, remixer, artist and designer behind a stylistically dizzying volume of tracks & remixes.

Chiefly a producer-writer, able to open creative doors for artists who don't want to compromise, his collaborations have turned up on VICE on HBO (with Neotropic); at Christmas #2 for Cape Town's GHFM (11-week chart run with EJ von LYRIK); pounding from Detroit club speaker stacks while the stage lights up with laser wearables (with Mother Cyborg); and as a Record Store Day Exclusive clear vinyl 10", originally premiered by Gilles Peterson (with Pablo).

His remixes are similarly unpredictable - check the carnival bass of Beat Rivals ft Lifford's '(Gotta Be) Free' Benbo Bass Remix, the woozy techno of Otti Albietz's 'Becoming Close (Benbo Remix)' or the balearic acid classical of Alexandra Benedict & Tris Taylor's 'Sleeping Lions - Benbo Remix.'

But his solo work is kept closest - with an album begun in 2003, signed to Cooking Vinyl in 2009, and briefly released but withdrawn in 2011. Its quality is signalled in the #1 Indie Shuffle Alternative chart placing for 'If You Feel Emotional', mixed by Gordon Raphael, in 2015, and volumes of radio support for 'Gravity Pulls Me Down,' finally completed in 2017 thanks to production by Marta Salogni.

The ultimate accolade, though, must go to 'Sheep On Drugs', which fulfilled a life's ambition by appearing on legendary BBC1 show 'Homes Under The Hammer'.

After disappearing in the wake of his 2017 mini-album EVERYTHING IS FINE, not a peep was heard on any Benbo profile, until a one-liner earlier this year in Popbitch recommended his parody COVID manual HOW TO SURVIVE A PANDEMIC.

Someone then took a line in the book referencing an imaginary Benbo Global Megastore too seriously, and the real Benbo Global Megastore was launched in August - packed full of exclusive designs across clothing, accessories, homewares, books/zines and - yes - music.

Is it real, or is it just absurdist fantasy? Doesn't matter - the creative products and services keep coming.

“Solar” is a two-track single within which Deskai captures two distinct and recognisable moods from the early days; laid back Jazz infused Breakbeats, and soulful yet reflective Drum & Bass. Tristan Welch – Family Stress (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“-Family Stress- is our pick and the #2 track from the new album of Tristan Welch -Ambient Distress-, those that are parenthood may connected here faster, but not worry, it has the opposite effect. Rich pad atmospheres, into a nostalgic emotional stage and gently harmonic layers which progressing slowly, it comes to rest the speed you live in your daily routine and stay to the beautiful moments between. Beautiful ambient! ”

-Nagamag.com

"The songs on Tristan Welch’s new album, Ambient Distress, are texture rich songs that act as both a diagnosis and a cure to the problems labeled in the titles of the tunes. With tracks like “Economic Fear,” “Social Hopelessness,” and “Family Stress,” you’d imagine tracks that are dark and unsettling, especially with Welch’s mastery at eliciting emotions with electronic sound. But this album is mostly beautiful and could be used as a meditation tool to help you process and find relief from these very real world woes."

-Nagamag.com

Columbus-based electronic artists CoastalDives and Henry Blaeser team up on Ghost II, a haunting and warm slice of electronica landing on Chile’s renowned No Problema Tapes imprint.

Based in Columbus, Ohio, CoastalDives made his musical debut with the original film score All Small Bodies, a project that explored minimalistic synth compositions contrasting harsh, brooding soundscapes. He has since released music ranging from highly evocative ambient and pulse-driven electronica to synth-heavy neo-classical. The dreamy quality of his music has attracted the attention of filmmakers, several of whom have used his work to soundtrack short films, one of which was made for Hulu and another which premiered at MOMA.

Also based in Columbus, Henry Blaeser is an eclectic record producer/vocalist, one half of experimental pop duo, .boy, and has worked with artists like La Poré, Ale Campillo & Mungbean.

After several independent releases since their split 7” vinyl release, Divey / I Stay via Terrible Cloud Records, CoastalDives and Henry Blaeser have now teamed up on Ghost II, another unpredictable twist in their catalogue, and first joint effort for vaporwave’s reputable No Problema Tapes.

Dense, dark and intricate, Ghost II merges Blaeser’s cold, skeletal rhythmic & textural architecture with CoastalDives’ all-encompassing, haunting synth-scapes.
