Back by popular demand, JB Stark is releasing 2 more collaborations with soul singer Kestra. Their last 3 singles together have become fan favourites with over 4 million streams combined.

The second of the two singles is Your Sweet Power, a soulful and upbeat tune with a strong funk bassline. The song’s story reflects on a lost loved one, who still looks over your shoulder. Everyone can remember their greatest teacher or mentor, and years later you can still hear them chastise you and tell you off in your head. But it’s always done with love, and it’s always welcome as a guiding light.

London songwriter and producer JB Stark makes vibrant pop tunes which are more than the sum of their parts. Since his debut in February 2020, his songs have racked up over 5 million streams, been playlisted by Spotify (Indie Pop, Trending Hits) and Apple Music (Future Hits, Friday Feeling), entered the Spotify Viral 50 charts and received support from BBC Introducing, EARMILK, Alfitude, and many others.

JB Stark also produces and writes for other artists. In 2021 he co-wrote and produced the track ‘Tattoo’ for K-pop idol AILEE. Previous tracks have featured on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 6, XFM, MTV and SB.TV. He has also landed sync placements on major TV networks including Fox, CBS, E!, BBC Three, Channel 5 and BRAVO.

Residing in the creative hub of East London, and drawing inspiration from artists such as Mark Ronson, Paul Epworth and Max Martin, JB Stark's array of influences allow the producer/writer to curate a rich tapestry of unique sounds and textures.

Michelle Welchons – Flickering Lights (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Jazz, The Latest|

“If the music is able to float like a boat on the waves of its listener, then this is what -Michelle Welchons- achieves in this single. These cute vocals and fabulous melody of Jazz, can please our heart and soul from the very beginning to the end.”

“Если музыка способна раскачивать словно лодку на волнах своего слушателя, то это с лёгкостью делает -Michelle Welchons- в своём сингле. Ласкающий слух вокал, сказочная и такая милая, добрая мелодия джаза радуют сердце и душу от самого начала и до конца.”

-Nagamag.com

Flickering Lights is an original composition about the infinity of life and having hope even in times of loss and grief - even when we lose loved ones, they are still with us and we, too, will one day return.. It is sensitive and contemplative while also grooving. Gabrielle Cavassa's luxurious vocals are supported by a string section and a strong bossa/samba feel that gives way to a meditative and climactic conclusion. The track also features West African guitar lines and a soaring piano solo. I will be releasing a music video as well.

E.G. Phillips – Till We Have Faces Again (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Jazz, The Latest|

“Soft, lyrical composition by -e.g. Phillips- in the genre of Bossa Nova that pleases our ears by its sound. Rhythm and melody form the main character of this track, which is the creation of a charming atmosphere!”

“Мягкая, лирическая композиция в жанре bossa nova, льётся ручьём и радует слух каждым звуком, которым -E.G. Phillips- наполняет свою музыку. Ритм и мелодия ведут за собой, в чём и заключается основной плюс этого трека — создание чарующей атмосферы!”

“Till We Have Faces Again” is one of the rare compositions I've written during the pandemic that I have some affection for and feel like I’ll still want to play long after all of the quarantining and masking are long in the rearview mirror.

The pandemic had the unfortunate effect of making all songs written prior to it feel somewhat alien, like relics from a bygone era when we went places and interacted with people. At the same time songs about the pandemic felt like they would have a limited shelf life, or at the very least be a bit depressing to revisit. That, and it was that much harder to write in general. At some point during the whole ordeal, this one popped out of me and it actually felt like a good entry point into the collection of songs that has become the album “Alien from an Alternate Earth.”

The song title and verses allude to C.S. Lewis’ retelling of the myth of Cupid and Psyche — a story I found myself thinking about in the context of the the whole shutdown mishegas. Psyche’s situation — its strangeness, her isolation — seemed to resonate. Ultimately, despite somewhat tongue-in-cheek asserting not much has actually changed because of quarantine, it's a hopeful song, confident we will in fact "have faces" again.

The track was recorded at Wallys HydeOut (the famed Hyde Street Studio C which has hosted such luminaries as Herbie Hancock, Santana, and The Grateful Dead) in San Francisco and features some of the Bay Area's top jazz performers including Jeffry Burr on guitar and Rich Armstrong on flugelhorn. The track was produced by Chris McGrew (of Griddle) and mastered by Gary Hobish. The artwork is by Mario M. Noche, who played guitar on the song "All I Can Share is Photos" from my previous album "At Home at Sea" (another tune of mine which got the Bossa Nova treatment).

Lyrics:

Saw you bop’n down the block

Winds flirt’n with your skirt

Your naked eyes flashed a smile at me

In a way that’s bound to hurt

Till we have faces again

Till we have faces again

Kidnapped to a castle

High up in the clouds

You only visit when you’re invisible

That’s all the gods will allow

Till we have faces again

Till we have faces again

Raucous echoes down below

Guess my neighbors are do’in fine

It’s my bad luck the pandemic struck

With no prospects on the line

Been homebound most my days

Quarantine’s hardly changed my ways

Love’s illusory at the best of times

Snuck into your bedroom

Lit a candle to catch a glimpse

Spilt hot wax by accident

Now you’ve vanished to the wind

Till we have faces again

Till we have faces again

Till we have faces again…

Sharon Hendrix – Hold Me Tight (Video)

“Sultry and delicate, her heavenly voice carries us through her love inspired message. The smooth rhythms of a finely tuned band are evidently present on this track. Its jazzy and refined as the finest of silks. ”

-Nagamag.com

Every voice has a story to tell. For Sharon Hendrix, it’s a whirlwind tale of passion, thrill, and adventure. Her musical career has spanned five decades from post-Beatles pop to modern-day contemporary music. When it comes to the industry, she’s done at all. From working closely with Hall of Famers such as Bob Dylan, Elton John, and Stevie Wonder to pioneering new genres with Olivia Newton-John, Billy Cobham, and Dusty Springfield. In 1978, she toured with Barry Manilow and duetted with him on his popular 1985 rendition of “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing.” Now, Sharon Hendrix is exploring her own sound in her solo act that’s nothing short of sensational.

There’s nothing better than feeling the warmth and safety of being held in the arms of someone you love. In Sharon Hendrix’s latest track, “Hold Me Tight,” she captures that rush of emotions through her sweet, honey-like vocals that are filled with richness and intention. Through her years of live performing and studio work with superstar artists she’s managed to find the balance of delicate, airy vocals that have the power to hold emotional weight. The smooth, groovy instrumentals set a relaxed atmosphere that gently caresses you and keeps you grounded. The music video is zen and Sharon looks at ease in a silk gown as she glides from room to room. There is an immediate wave of comfort and peace in watching her singing to you. The video ends with Sharon Hendrix cuddling up in bed with her Yorkshire Terrier with a t-shirt that emphasizes spreading kindness to all living creatures – a quote from legendary film star Doris Day and famously echoed by singer, songwriter Morrissey.

Melvys – Never Loved You (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Jazz, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“We love the natural bass present on this composition. The delicate horn section and sultry sounds of a guitar solo pull this together nicely. Her voice moves us through the lyrics in a well-controlled fashion, her voice is flexible, and this track shows it off well. ”

-Nagamag.com

Artist shared few words with Nagamag behind this song inspiration:

"This song has Rnb/Soul and Jazz influences, it was inspired by a personal experience of my life that is detailed in the lyrics. I had a back and forth relationship with someone who ended up sleeping with my ex best friend and I wrote this song to assert that although it may seem as though I got played, in reality I had never loved him, but I did love to like him. The song shows that he was very into me even though he did what he did and I just wasn't into him so personally. Writing this was very cathartic for me at the time of the events that transpired" - Melvys

Sharon Ruchman, Sonoro – Lazy Day (Spotify)

“when we seek a moment to relax and feel the need to isolate ourselves from this noisy world, music has the answer. "Lazy Day" has exactly what you need to listen. Pure Neoclassical instrumentation with a taste of mystery in the rhythmes of Blues. Professional approach in production, not suitable for all!”

-Nagamag.com

This is a blues style piece with an unusual combination of viola, cello, piano, and acoustic bass.
