Rudyb – Into the wild (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“The opening interplay between acoustic & electric guitar continues throughout the song to provide a background for the engaging solo male vocals in the early verses & the sweet harmony female vocals that accompany in later verses. The rest of the band joins in during the pre-chorus builds & throughout each chorus to lift the song even more. Extremely listenable.”

-Nagamag.com

It’s a song about going into the unknown. Acoustic vibes with a deep and sad message as undertone. Going ‘into the wild’ is actually not what most people would think from first listen.

Suzie Ungerleider – Baby Blues (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“The immediately recognisable, distinctive & melodic tones of Suzie Ungerleider’s vocal leaves you in no doubt that this lady was destined to be a distinguished musician. Suzie has that knack of expressing a world of emotion with a handful of carefully chosen words. A polished production, this is a late night, lights down low song to be enjoyed with a glass or two of your favourite tipple.”

-Nagamag.com

Two-time JUNO Award nominee Suzie Ungerleider officially opens a new chapter of her already distinguished and highly successful career with the August 13 release of her new album entitled My Name is Suzie Ungerleider. It's her first since the artist formerly known as Oh Susanna announced that she would now record and perform under her birth name.

https://twitter.com/SuzUngerleider

Bursting with trademark evocative melodies and trenchant lyrics, it's the tenth solo studio album by the American-born, Canadian-raised artist revered for such landmark records as Johnstown, Sleepy Little Sailor and A Girl in Teen City. The decision to say “so long” to her long-time moniker Oh Susanna represents her recognition that the “exciting, dark, funny, charming” character that she thought was Oh Susanna was actually Suzie Ungerleider (pronounced Unger-lye-der) all along. “So here I am, leaving behind the trappings of a persona that gave me the courage to climb up onstage and reveal what is in my heart,” she reflects. “It once protected me, but I need to take it off so I can be all of who I am.”

https://www.facebook.com/suzieungerleider

The name change is both a personal and political decision, fuelled by her realization that 'Oh Susanna,' the Stephen Foster song of 1848, contained racist imagery and a belief system that she wanted no part of. She came to understand its historic associations to Minstrelsy, a tradition both demeaning and dehumanizing to black people. Leaving Oh Susanna behind, she's become her true self with a wonderful record that marks a fresh beginning, a collection of new compositions that refresh and redefine who Suzie Ungerleider is. The album also marks a new relationship with UK Label MVKA (Eva Cassidy, BOY, Sarah Blasko). "We’ve always been massive fans of Suzie’s mesmerising voice and songs having worked her first 3 albums at another label. To be involved with Suzie’s music again is a privilege and feels like a homecoming;’’ shares Andrew Bowles (Director at MVKA). Suzie reciprocates those feelings with "I love working with Andrew and Tom from MVKA. I love their honesty, sense of humour, artist-centric ethic, and of course their lovely accents.”

https://www.instagram.com/suzieungerleider/

The new album is introduced by the characteristically searing 'Baby Blues,' a song about how the traumatic events we witness when we're young can haunt and indeed shape our older selves. It's a deep subject with an upbeat punchline. “Like ghosts,” she says, “sometimes you just need to just sit with them, feel their power, and, because they feel seen, they release their hold on you for a little while.” Elsewhere, the album depicts an older and wiser artist and mother sometimes writing for her daughter, both at the time of her dramatically premature birth and miraculous survival on the achingly pretty 'Summerbaby' and, now a teenager herself, courageously dealing with her own identity on the intimate 'Hearts,' on which mountains of blue watch over her.

Now based again in her home town of Vancouver, she made My Name is Suzie Ungerleider with producer Jim Bryson (Kathleen Edwards, Kalle Mattson, Skydiggers), whose assured touch amplifies the atmospheric dreamscapes contained in Suzie's reflective, intimate songbook.

Grayson Foster – Hold Me Tonight (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“There's a value for the audience of contemporary music genre, which defaults to conquer every heart. Provided that you listen at least once, -Hold Me Tonight- hits right on target and not backing down to the last second.”

“Для современной музыкальной аудитории жанровый эксперимент является ценностью, которая по умолчанию завоёвывают сердца каждого, кто успел их прослушать хотя бы единожды. -Hold Me Tonight- бьёт точно в цель и не отступает до последней секунды.”

-Nagamag.com

Recorded at Battle Tapes Studios with Grammy-winning engineer, Jeremy Furgeson (Cage the Elephant), and Co-Produced by Katie Toupin (Houndmouth), Grayson Foster’s “Hold Me Tonight” is the most unfiltered release of this young Nashville indie artist's career. The lyrics provide an outward expression of the internal struggle and vividly portray the difficulty of telling those you love you need to be alone. Filled with raw emotion and a sonic palette that builds from beginning to end, “Hold Me Tonight” is best served with a shot of whisky and solitude.

Jonny Glenn – Like Father Like Son (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“A gentle, soulful chord progression that guides the melody and is an accurate mirror of the title and lyrics. Ostensibly a tender love song, Jonny is actually describing being abandoned by his father at a young age, & conveys self-reflective emotions in a bittersweet way. Instrumentally, the song is also a fabulous vehicle for his Hendrix (Little Wing) like guitar work”

-Nagamag.com

Talented Los Angeles newcomer Jonny Glenn is ready to share his most vulnerable offering "Like Father Like Son," the focus track of his debut album, 8, due out next week. The rising, alt-pop artist gets deeply intimate with this new single that shares a piece of his heart and breaks down his walls.

https://www.instagram.com/jonny_glenn/?hl=en

Raised by a single mother in the American South, opportunities at large simply weren't available. Listening to music became his escape; one where anything seemed possible. Pouring his all into his passion, Jonny prepares to set sail with his debut album, aptly titled "8" based on the date December 8th - a powerful day in the cosmos. December 8th is not only Jonny's birth date but the death of the famous astronaut John Glenn (with whom he shares a name) and the assassination of John Lennon - one of his biggest musical influences.

New single "Like Father Like Son" foregoes any superfluous production and rather focuses on the rawness and sincerity in Jonny's voice and lyrics. Accompanied by just a simple yet gorgeous electric guitar, "Like Father Like Son" is Jonny's most honest, impactful, and reflective offering to date.

"My dad left when I was 4 years old," he shares. "Then I grew up. Just my mom and me. It was just the two of us. I'm so thankful to have as strong of a mother as I do. As I've grown into myself and have been taking a deeper dive into myself, I've realized how the trauma of being abandoned affected me.

I grew up always thinking I was more mature than my peers (even though I was the youngest in my grade), or at least had to be. I thought that I was stronger than most. I had become the man of my house at a young age. An 8 year-old 'man.' As a kid, I had no idea how the events of my young life would shape my behavior through adolescence and into becoming a young adult and into my first significant relationships. I made a few mistakes along the way, some of which I thought were similar to those my dad had made and would lead me down a similar path. That scared me.

https://twitter.com/TheJonnyGlenn

This song is about that - not wanting to be like my dad. And not making any of the mistakes he did. As ironic as it sounds, by facing my fears and my past, I've been able to start breaking the cycle of acting unconsciously and have given my true self a chance of rebirth. No longer do I need to react in order to survive. Through this long process, I am starting to learn how to just be. That has been a true blessing and I feel like I am the closest to true happiness that I've ever been."

"8" sees Jonny explore themes from loneliness and heartache to self-discovery and empowerment. Each song is set to alt-pop soundscapes featuring textural elements of R&B, indie-folk, and electronica making it feel both familiar and different at the same time. From his latest release "Runnin'" a private confessional about young love to his newest powerhouse "Like Father Like Son," Jonny shares his most important life experiences throughout this album.

Combining pop with rock influences, often paying homage to childhood idols Elvis, Freddie Mercury, and Nirvana, Jonny's wide range has garnered worldwide praise. His recent releases have amassed over 3 million streams and over 100,000 monthly listeners. His 8 album is bound to position the rising Jonny for success in the years to come.

Filiah – Goodbye (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Against the backdrop of gentle orchestration & a repeating guitar note Filiah’s sweet & pure vocal harmonies reach out to tug at your heart. Goodbye is a song that describes the deep sense of abandonment, loss & heartache one feels when someone you love ends the relationship.”

-Nagamag.com

Goodbye is an unfiltered insight into Filiah's mind.

The song deals with the feeling of abandonment after the sudden ending of a deep love. It's about how the process of choosing to love yourself and saying goodbye can feel like both the best and most painful choice at the same time.

"This song is about me realizing that sometimes it doesn’t matter how great and infatuating a love is, if the people involved just end up in these toxic patterns again and again. I found myself getting caught up in nostalgia and memories on purpose just to still feel close to this person after they left. It felt as though I was literally carrying that ghost with me everywhere. And it was crushing. That was not how I wanted to remember it. So I wrote this song as a reminder for myself that saying goodbye sometimes is the only right choice."

It is the first single of an upcoming concept album- a raw and honest exploration of love, grief, nostalgia and all feelings in between.

Goodbye, as well as the album was recorded and produced by Filiah in her living room.

Paul Cafcae – Downtown (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“-Downtown- is a competent combination of elements of Native American genres. Traditional country music, a bit of folk and rock, a definite hit from -Paul Cafcae-, which brought together the best creative and musical quality.”

“-Downtown- грамотное сочетание элементов исконно американских жанров. Традиционная country музыка, немного folk и rock и перед нами однозначный хит от -Paul Cafcae-, который собрал воедино лучшие творческие и музыкальные качества.”

-Nagamag.com

Sometimes you just need a jam song — a song that gets the feet moving and gets you lost in the groove. That's "Downtown," by Paul Cafcae. It's got a country two-step feel but quickly whisks you away in blues appreciation with its many licks, head-bopping lyrics, and a harmonica solo by Venezuelan, Hector Alexander, that can cut glass.

It's the kind of track that makes you miss live music and would fit nicely in a dimly-lit, underground blues bar that you happen to stumble upon in the middle of the night. And that's kind of the point of the song; making light of the cultural differences of the big city big wig people—the yuppies—and the rest of the world who grooves in the fringer parts of society. The hole in the wall establishments full of energy, art, and a DIY attitude.

This thought is sealed with Cafcae's lyric "do this dirty, dirty, thing playing blues all the night." Immediately after comes a sensational 12 bar blues solo and then Hector's brief moment in the spotlight. Cafcae will probably get back to playing blues all night once the pandemic lifts.

"It's a slightly satirical song," says Paul Cafcae.

All The Queen`s Horses – Raised By Wolves (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“This song will stay with you forever, even if one day will be lost in your playlist, -Raised By Wolves- remind that myself suddenly burst into life. Dark energy waves of mainstream rock music.”

“Эта песня останется с вами навсегда, даже если однажды она потеряется в вашем плейлисте, -Raised By Wolves- напомнит о себе внезапно ворвавшись в вашу жизнь. Тёмные энергетические волны мейнстрима рок музыки.”

-Nagamag.com

Artist shared few words with us behind the inspiration of this song:

“I tried to colour in a scenario of someone who has been constantly let down. They can usually just swallow it and are resilient but on this occasion something changed and they’re not accepting it and they go very dark and no matter where they go their baggage comes with them.” All The Queen’s Horses

https://www.instagram.com/allthequeenshorsesmusic

About:

All The Queen’s Horses is a dark indie project by Cork artist Sean William Murphy. A signature blitz of sadness, darkness and poetry esque lyrics to a backdrop of piano, cello and some Joy Division synths. All The Queen’s Horses recently signed and teamed up with Echoism and Motor Music to release the new upcoming album, ‘The Dark Below & The Isle of Dogs’. The poetry of Leonard Cohen, the madness of Tom Waits and the intensity of Joy Division with subtle hints of Bright Eyes and Damien Rice. A Hieronymus Bosch hellscape transmuted to music, but there’s more, like Freidrich Neitze taking a day off to pick flowers, making sure he wasn’t followed. All The Queen’s Horses’ gothic folktronica evokes a desperate and beautiful darkness, a world we can escape to, where our fears and desires intertwine like rope around the subject of an Araki photograph. A very unique, out of box experience for those that enjoy different takes on the singer songwriter genre. After a year of global turmoil singer-songwriter Sean Murphy, has channeled this swirling darkness into a hauntingly beautiful album: ‘The Dark Below & The Isle of Dogs’. Originally from Cork, Ireland, living in Dublin and having spent the last 12 months in London, Sean Murphy has seen this last disastrous year through the lens of an artist. Working under the moniker ‘ALL THE QUEEN`S HORSES’, Murphy has crafted a raw, guttural and emotive response to what he has observed as a darkness bleeding across the land and in to all of our lives. A twisted narrative is weaved in folktronica-rock; a patchwork of poetry, cello, synths and mournful pianos. A kind of warped, contemporary tapestry, the story of 2020 unfolds in low light and fun-house mirrors.

Lisa Nicole – Count on You (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“Do not believe those who say that singing is just an addition to music. This work by -Lisa Nicole- can easily pull out all your emotions, enrich them with her radiant singing and drive you crazy. Believe me, she will succeed.”

“Не верьте тому, кто говорит, что вокал это лишь дополнение к музыке. -Count on You- в исполнении -Lisa Nicole- с лёгкостью вытащит наружу все ваши эмоции, обогатит их своим лучезарным пением и не раз сведёт вас с ума. Поверьте, у неё это получится. ”

-Nagamag.com

Canadian country artist Lisa Nicole is pleased to release her newest single, “Count On You”, which is new on all digital platforms and will go to Canadian country radio on April 19th.

Written and recorded prior to the pandemic, the song’s modern retro-pop country canvas is an inviting backdrop for an honest and heartfelt lyrical journey that is especially timely and meaningful in present times.

Lisa Nicole says, “This song was about how the support of one person – whether it’s a partner, a family member or a trusted friend – can light up the room and pull you through when everything else seems to be going wrong.”

As the third single to be released from her 2021 fall album, Where the Wild Hearts Beat, “Count On You” was originally written by Lisa Nicole and star songwriter Dave Pahanish in Nashville, where she lived in the spring and summer of 2018 after a once-in-a-lifetime duet with Keith Urban at a Music City pop-up concert inspired her to move there.

Upon returning to the Canadian Kootenays, the artist integrated new ideas from her longtime guitar player Jason Thomas along with her producer – CCMA award-winning Jeff Johnson – to further enhance and complete the finished product.

For the artist – who grew up in Castlegar, British Columbia and now lives in nearby Trail – the memories of living in Nashville, writing with the likes of Pahanish, and recording with Johnson back in British Columbia have added fuel to her artistic spirit and only increased her desire to leave a lasting impact through songs with meaningful purpose mixed with a current sound.

“Count On You” offers hope through connection and comfort but also shows the power of how we can each make a difference for anyone close to us.

“We all want someone to count on, but we can also be that someone to count on,” says Lisa Nicole.

“Count On You” is now available on all digital platforms. It goes to Canadian country radio on April 19th.
