Martèn LeGrand – Fields Of Fallen Leaves (Spotify)

“-Martèn LeGrand- with his new solo piano -Fields Of Fallen Leaves- on PM Recordings invites us into a romantic confession with a hidden melancholic touch giving a wonderful sense of freedom like when you walk on through the falen leaves. ”

-Nagamag.com

Martèn LeGrand is the stage name of Dutch musician and pianist Maarten de Groot, born January 4, 1963.

After Martèn completed his degree at the Rotterdam Conservatory as a Hammond organist and music performance major in 1983, he began his career as a record producer for well-known international artists and bands such as Samantha Fox and Susan Snyder. Best known for her role in the soap opera As The World Turns, Martèn produced Snyder’s solo singles, also used in the popular serial drama as background music. By the same token, Martèn produced the Socaboy's hit song Follow The Leader, which became a number-one single in the Netherlands, topped the charts in the United States, South America and other European countries, and continues to be well played around the world today. Around this same period, Martèn also worked as a demonstrator and pioneer in the field of synthesizers at Roland Japan, based in Belgium.

In the decade to follow Martèn LeGrand composed and produced music for television and the film industry. He worked, among others, for the Dutch Broadcast Foundation (NOS) and the Dutch Evangelical Broadcasting association (EO), for whom he produced and composed a large range of music, including intros and performances for live television events. Martèn also played piano in a variety of bands, including East Coast, Time and Beethoven, and collaborated on various theatrical productions with singers Liesbeth List and Sandra van Megen – the last of which went on to accompany him at the Alliance Concours Française where they were awarded first place.

Around the turn of the century Martèn founded his own music studio, where he continues to work to this day. Free to determine his own schedule, Martèn’s newfound self-employment allowed him to finally integrate his other life passion: world travel. Filled with new insights and inspiration from his journeys abroad, Martèn reinvented himself as “the traveling pianist” and has since gone on to compose a wide variety of new work.

Saskatchewan, his recent solo debut album, is the first in a range of several released and upcoming piano albums. Inspired by his surroundings, Martèn named his debut album after the Canadian region of Saskatchewan, where he found himself enchanted by, among others, a small-town cathedral and the incredible natural world. A number of the tracks on his new album, songs such as Nipawin, Pinehouse and Beauval, are named after places where Martèn played while traveling. Martèn LeGrand strives to take his listeners on a journey, transporting them to beautiful and serene locations by way of his melodic compositions. Martèn LeGrand’s second piano album is released last year and is called Those Moments In Life. Currently, he’s releasing new piano pieces of his upcoming EP ‘The Fields’. With his piece Whitehaven, he’s made his music video debut recently.

TripL Interview on Nagamag

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

TripL:
While we've been known a lot for our progressive house in the past, this year we've decided to explore different genres and been switching it up a bit with classic piano chords in the break and a future house style Hexagon drop in both our Dua Lipa Remix and Never Gonna Give You Up to explore new horizons, which is something which we gonna keep pushing in the near future.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

TripL:
We each had different musical background, Lior played the piano and listened to a wide range of music from an early age. He has
been DJing and producing music from the age of 15. while finishing “Muzik” college school as an honor student he was releasing a few “white label” remixes that got supported by big names like: Fedde La Grand, Dave Spoon, Hard Rock Sofa and many more. While Omri started his career when he was only 14 years old. An autodidact and a perfectionist
producer/mixing/mastering with sharp senses for sound design. Working as a music producer at “Mantra Music Productions” for the last 10 years with more than 500 remixes and original productions. His first release in the electronic scene happened way back in his youth, signing tracks at the German record label “Platten Bank” supported by Sasha and
John Digweed.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

TripL:
We actually started listening to club trance as kids. The good old Magic Sunrise compilations by Tiësto. Then we moved towards the house scene including legends like Axwell, Bob Sinclar and more. These days we're trying to explore more genres and decades of music. Gotta say that we're huge fans of the original disco and funk scene of the 70s! Pure music.

Nagamag:
How would you describe your latest release "Get On Down"?

TripL:
‘Get On Down’ invites you to adhere to the dancefloor-ready release’s mantra title from the jump-off, distorted house synths ushering in a deep, reverbed vocal that projects forth the hands-in-the-air, slinking house vibe before it’s even out of the gate – make no mistake these boys didn’t come to play. Fortifying their “Get On Down” topline that serves as the axis of the track for attitude-driven snaps of delivery and uplifting, vigorous energy to overtake like a tsunami.

Nagamag:
Can you please tell us what you guys been up to in recent times, how were you affected by the pandemic?

TripL:
We have been pretty busy actually, we were invited to take over guestmixes for a lot of renowned DJs such as Tigerlily and more. Still dealing with pandemic wasn’t easy and have lead to a lot of tours and festivals being cancelled, there was one in march that was affected the most. We were meant to play in front of 60,000 people known for being one of the biggest parties in the Middle East where we planned on premiering our new local hit, we made up for that with a livestreams full of IDs and Festival bangers. Despite all of that it didn’t prevent us from using the lockdown for the best and spend more time in the studio making a lot new music which “Get On Down” is just the tip of what’s yet to come. In addition we've released a Local pop hit called “Tamid Kadima” meaning always moving forward in Hebrew which talks about positivity and fit the current Covid-19 situation perfectly, the song received a lot of success with over million plays within the first two weeks, live morning shows performances and lots radio supports.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

TripL:
Diplo & SIDEPIECE "On My Mind"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

TripL:
DJ Kuba & Neitan "Feel The Vibe (Keanu Silva Remix)"

YLLOW & Vyel – Leave Me Alone (Video)

“Music is a medicine and your safe shelter when things not work out good, here YLLOW & Yvel offer us a music pill that will bring all the smiles back to face and goosebumps in your backbones. Beautiful euphoric harmonies and upbeat heartwarming vocals to start or end your day perfect! Leave Me Alone – now enjoy my music!”

-Nagamag.com

When YLLOW finished the first idea of his new instrumental track, he came up with an uplifting & living lead melody and an emotional chord progression. He then contacted Vyel via e-mail a year ago to ask him if he would be in to collaborate with him on his new track. Vyel wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals, then YLLOW reworked the instrumental multiple times. Soon after the track was 100% finished, the duo sent it to WildVibes for a final mix & master.

This song is about not letting others define the choices and decisions of your life, and having the courage to trust oneself to take action and find your way without paying attention to the judgement of others.

As we are more and more people to feel alone in these strange times, this song is also a reminder that we can learn to appreciate and celebrate the times we spend alone.

If anxiety is often a downside in this situation, self-awareness is also its upside : when you know yourself well, you’re simply doing everyday what makes you happy. Is it listening to music? Is it making music? Or is it running maybe? Playing video games? Travelling the world and exploring? Reading a book? Cooking? Watching movies and series? Learning new skills?
