“We had retro visions of a deep purple sunset and long forgotten achievements. A classic beat with a rich Synth exposure. The beat is swift and energetically charged with bright neon colors. A fitting voice for the piece the voice carries a message of faith. ”

Belot – Math

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“”Belot” is back, breaking her silence in an impressive way. Her new single follows the same rules in Pop sound, but this time is more colourful and bright too. With the addition of rich percussion and playful vocal performance, “Math” goes straight in the list of our favourites.”

Belot is a 22-year-old songwriter based in London, who is about to unleash her own distinct brand of cheeky, honest, vulnerable pop music onto planet earth. After breaking through last year with her stunning efforts “Bed”, “Kiss You”, “Harmless Fun”, which found support from BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Clara Amfo & Sian Eleri and BBC Introducing, “awkward pop” pioneer Belot keeps kicking in style as she delivers the pumping new anthem “Math” HERE via Submarine Cat / Neon Gold Records.

Continuing the same rich and vibrant alt-pop direction she has curated for herself so far, “Math” is a fun and intoxicating return from an artist always looking for the next big move to make. Filled with glittering production, lively hooks, and her own mesmerizing voice at the helm, it already feels like 2022 will be her most impactful year to date.

Speaking about the new release, she said, “Math is about the struggle of not wanting a serious relationship in your youth. You are entangled with this person and you care about them, but you just can’t find it in you, to settle down quite yet.”

Brought up in North London, living with her Mum and older brother, she was surrounded by music from a young age with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, The Beach Boys and Al Green being regularly played in the house. She’s always naturally gravitated to music, and would write songs in the bath as early as she can remember.

By the age of 8, she was teaching herself guitar in a quest to put her bath time warblings into some sort of construct. Aged 12 Belot had progressed to a laptop and recording, using Logic. Music was clearly the place she felt she could best express her emotions.

She fluked her way into the Brit School at the age of 14 and throughout her time there she started to formulate her own vision of the sort of music she wanted to make and how she wanted to be perceived as an artist.

Her musical journey continued – soaking up music of The Strokes, Phoenix, Andy Shauf, Flume, Alt J, Metronomy, early Kanye West, and the aggressive dubstep of Kill The Noise.

Belot released her debut EP, Electric Blue in the first half of 2020 just as the pandemic was beginning. Millions of streams across multiple platforms followed, while Radio 1’s Jack Saunders was a fan. Early adopters included Wonderland and The Line Of Best Fit, but this resolutely down to earth personality isn’t about to get caught up in the hype. Her upcoming EP is set to be a special moment.

“I love pop. Always have! And I’m not afraid to say it,” she exclaims. “I think for me, a pop song is something that is going to be so catchy it hurts. I’m going to wake up in the middle of the night and it’ll still be stuck in my head.”

From hereon in, at the quietest moments of the day and night, Belot is set to be your companion, shaking up your life and providing something unique, and truly addictive.

Belot will make her live debut on March 17th supporting Dora Jar at London’s Lafayette.

Brisa Roché & IX – The Time

“A bit more pop experimental approach with strong diversity bundled under a top notch mix production. The Time from Brisa Roché & IX invites you to listen more and more to catch the sound design details and vocal technics and at the end wins your hot interest! From the tracks that wins your taste in time, like the good wine!”

A nonchalant psychedelic indie-pop track with a touch of Xanax hip hop.

Roles are reversed when Brisa Roché enters rapping with a poetic not-giving-a-fuck attitude, counter-balanced by IX singing softly on a catchy and luminous melancholy hook.

“Let’s go back to the time when we had the time”

For all the out-of-tune synths, warped gogo bells and contained fuzz guitars, The Time remains strangely feel-good.

New Zealand alternative rock trio CAPITAL THEATRE showcase a melodic and edgy guitar/keyboard-driven sound on their debut full-length album A HERO’S JOURNEY out this summer. It was recorded with Grammy Award-winning legendary producer Mike Clink (Guns N’ Roses, Steve Vai) at NRG Studios in Los Angeles, CA (along with some guitar recordings being completed at Slash’s Snakepit Studio) and lyrically takes inspiration from Joseph Campbell’s’ book The Hero With A Thousand Faces.

The band has shared a provocative music video for its latest single, “Delicately Poised,” underlining the track’s exploration of the human identity. Filmed at an adult entertainment club in Barcelona and with live footage taken in New Zealand, the video highlights authenticity and diversity. CAPITAL THEATRE co-directed the video with Bruno Amaral Pereira and Julie Gomez of Kapala Studios and also by Alex Hargeaves who shot the NZ-based content of the band’s performance. “Delicately Poised” is available March 1, across all digital platforms.

From song to song, A HERO’S JOURNEY delivers unbridled energy drawn from guitarist Roy Oliver’s electrifying solos and sequences, drummer Paul Reid’s furiously pounding rhythms and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Adam Stevenson’s graceful and soul stirring piano work. The realm of their sound is further expanded with cinematic string arrangements completed by guest composer David Campbell (The Rolling Stones, U2, Beck) to add to its multi-dimensional otherworldly perception. Its 10 tracks reveal the undeniable chemistry they’ve honed through years of playing local pubs back home in Auckland, with A-list guest musicians including Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney and Bon Jovi lead guitarist Phil X.

“"Blues in Blue Light" tells a story of love, which lies deep inside the memory. As the lyrics progress, we may live again those strong emotional moments. Acoustic beauty in its best performance, which didn't left us unaffected.”

Slower paced, moving, heartfelt. A film noir type of love song in an acoustic setting, Blues in Blue Light tells a nostalgic love story that begins and ends within this ballad. Imagine a jazz club setting as someone is whispering in your ear telling you this love saga, you may even hear some restaurant ambiance in the background.

Boo Seeka – Finish What You Started (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“"Boo Seeka" dropped another hit in the Dream Pop scene and it may have addictive (side)effects! The track starts shaking the ground right after you press play. Uplifting lyrics, effect driven vocals and wide electronic background patterns for your full listening pleasure.”

-Nagamag.com

‘There’s a miracle out there for the finding” – it’s the kind of lyric that sends goosebumps down the spine, particularly after the last two years of hardship and trauma. Finish What You Started is actually quite a motivational track, and not in a forceful way – gentle, persuasive and inspirational, Boo encourages the listener to continue the work, to continue chasing dreams despite how hard it can get. Evocative of early 2010s indies Two Door Cinema Club and The Strokes, smooth electronic beats mesh flawlessly with guitar and Boo’s stunning falsetto. It’s easy to imagine Finish What You Started playing on the stereo in the car on the way down to the beach during an Aussie summer.
