Flower Face – October Birds

“With her angelic voice and poetic lyrics, Ruby McKinnon will open a new door in your listening choices. "October Birds" is made from etherial string patterns and a distinct touch of melancholy that won't leave you unaffected. Indie Folk production with personal character.”

Ahead of her new album, Montreal multi-hyphenate artist Ruby McKinnon aka Flower Face shares the final single release in the form of the poetic, somber ballad “October Birds.” Showing her most intimate side, the song opens with arpeggiating acoustics and breathtaking harmonies. McKinnon’s melancholic prose sounds almost as if she is reading directly from her diary. Listen to “October Birds” on all digital retailers (.

“This song is about the kind of self-revelation that leaves you mourning for the person you believed you were before,” explains McKinnon. “Any kind of growth is hard: it hurts to shed your skin. The layer underneath is tender. The lyrics get pretty blunt — more so than the others. I had somebody tell me once that the reason they loved my lyrics is because I have a way of 'juxtaposing the poetic with the heartbreakingly mundane.' I think that’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever received. I sort of unintentionally did that in this song because I was fed up when I wrote it: fed up with myself, with the way that I am and the fact that I couldn’t change that. At the time, I was in a relationship with somebody who was just unconditionally kind and understanding and forgiving. It brought my volatility into stark relief. Sometimes I feel like it’s easier for me to be in an unstable and fraught relationship because then I’m not forced to confront my own internal evil. Self-revelation is a painful (and very important) thing."

“October Birds” will appear alongside singles “Pisces Moon,” “Sugar Water,” “Cornflower Blue,” and “Back To You,” on her forthcoming full-length album The Shark in Your Water due out May 27th via Nettwerk.

“An emotionally impactful and discreetly intense single has just arrived from Michael Crean. Deep and somehow dark Folktronica sound that evolves within mystery. The lyrics have a true meaning and performed in characteristic way too. Consider watching the clip for the full artistic experience!”

Wavewulf – The Power of Water

“Nobody can deny the power of water and "Wavewulf" knows it well! Balancing between Electro and Dream Pop, this release has a hidden glow. Colourful and clear patterns of sound are waiting you along with lyrics of an explorative mood.”

Wavewulf (Nicholas Long) grew up listening to his father’s record collection, which included bands such as Pink Floyd. This early exposure to music lit a spark in him! Long was first inspired to play synthesizers at age 13 when he went to see Depeche Mode, and saw them making inspiring music with synthesizers.

After finishing graduate school in 2017, Long founded Wavewulf when he came into a small amount of money after his mother’s tragic death. He invested in more analogue synthesizers and some recording equipment. Wavewulf made his first album, Oscillation, in the spare room of his NJ apartment and released it in 2019.

Since then, Wavewulf has expanded his synthesizer collection and has released 3 more albums. Wavewulf's latest album "The North and the Sea" has an arctic/sea theme.

HU3M3N – T3MPT3D

Categories: Audio, Blogwave, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“You may become "Tempted" with the flow of this exuberant Indietronica sound. Hypnotic vocals that feed the imagination, while a thick bassline binds with those bright lead melodies. Music with own attitude and luring power for all the open-minded fans.”

-Nagamag.com

HU3M3N spawned in Orange County CA, formed in 2020, by former (hed) P.E. and Korn guitarist, Wes Geer and singer Matthew Bartosch. The band’s lineup was completed with the addition of D.I. guitarist Clinton Calton on bass, and former Ugly Kid Joe and Dorothy drummer, Zac Morris

Their unexpected origins explain a lot about their fluidity. Just when you think you’ve nailed down their style or genre HU3M3N morph into another sonic incarnation. The ethereal and androgynous vocals of Matthew Bartosch set atop the moody sound beds of Geer, leave you somewhere between arousal and addicted. HU3M3N’s sounds are pumped into your being through thick, fiery rhythm and deep bass from Underwood and Calton.

HU3M3N (pronounced hue-men) is anything but a group of average earthlings.
