A melancholy yet peaceful piano piece, written while my husband was away overseas. It signifies the challenges that so many people face in their life, we never really know what other people are going through and sometimes we are gently reminded of how lucky we are.

Liv Charette – Red Flags White

“Find out some hot lyrics and crazy mood in this alluring Electro Pop single. Dynamic waves of sound mixed with a vigorous voice in order to rise up your excitement to its maximum level. Just hit "play" and let the music do the rest.”

-Nagamag.com

Rising pop singer Liv Charette releases the powerful glam pop anthem “Red Flags White.” Blending modern pop sensibilities with elements of some of the genre’s timeless hits, “Red Flags White” showcases Charette’s skills as a “powerhouse vocalist” (Rolling Stone).

Produced by Logan Maggio, “Red Flags White” is Charette’s sixth single and first since her 2021 remake of Tina Turner’s “I Don’t Wanna Fight.” Liv Charette and her country artist contemporary Chris Ruediger co-wrote the song, which found its inspiration in an unlikely place.

“The inspiration for ‘Red Flags White came in the most unexpected way – on a Valentine’s Day-themed Peloton ride with Kendall Toole,” Charette says. “She talked about the phase of a relationship where we ‘bleach the red flags white,’ because even though we know someone is bad for us, we brush it off and ignore the red flags, thinking it’s probably all just in our heads. ‘Red Flags White’ is about that moment of time between falling for someone you shouldn’t have and realizing that you are better off without them.”

A fitness expert, influencer, and key Peloton personality, Kendall Toole even caught wind of the song via TikTok, posting a reaction video to Charette sharing the story behind the song and how her class influenced its creation. “I want to hear the whole thing!” Toole exclaims in the video as Charette makes her way through the chorus.

It’s not a big surprise that Charette found love from one of the song’s muses on TikTok. With more than 200,000 followers on the app, and over 2 million likes on her videos, Charette has been wowing audiences across the globe as a charismatic and “big voiced” (Billboard) entertainer.

Rainy – Wishing Well

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“By looking deep into the past, you realize that almost everything in this world is connected. Whether connected directly or not, nothing stands alone. If you feel lonely, just remember that you co-exist with others! This is the concept behind the "Wishing Well".”

The Well You Seek

I climbed these gritstone boulders and traced these Parmelia saxatilis lichens for years growing up in the Peak District in Derbyshire. Familiarity grows deep roots when you spend that much time in a place. The lichens plotted maps to unknown worlds, marked where to climb, where to slide and where to pause and wonder. Patterns formed like faces peering out from the sage greens, yellows and blues to greet my imagination. Since all of the rocks had once been unearthed from the disused quarry near by, I'd ask myself if anyone else had ever traced their form in this way or was I the first? Of course the lichens had been the first. Tiny lives in symbiosis. Two organisms working together. A fungi and an alga collaborating to make what we observe to be one form. Collaboration, not competition, is what made these rocks colour with life.

It is very often the act of looking into the past that reveals our interconnection with things. I've since come to suspect that this connection moves in all ways and in all directions if we choose to look closely enough. Or perhaps that should be far enough? Though we may be familiar with solitude we are no less alone than everything that exists. Connection is something I rediscover over and over again and it's a theme that runs throughout 'Fell For The World'.

Years ago I wrote and recorded a track called Putovinya whilst studying to be a sound engineer. Putovinya means journey in Slovenian. It was an ode to Vladamir, my fellow engineer on the project who had left his family in his war torn country to study sound and follow his love of music. I'd decided, in order to challenge us, that the track was to be a musical voyage through the various styles of music I had absorbed over my time so far as a musician. I dragged in every instrument I could lay my hands on to create the track. The collaboration showed me something that I've rarely found since.

I've always written and recorded music alone. It's not particularly intentional, it just works out that way for me. On the rare occasion I'm joined by a fellow writer or performer I relish every second. In the back of my mind I always knew that I wanted to invite my good friend to guest on one song in particular. 'Wishing Well' would not exist if not for Marcelo Andrade. A fellow multi instrumentalist and songwriter Marcelo is a Brazilian meastro. It had been my honour to sing backing vocals on his track 'Coco Pera' from his incredible album 'African tree '. During this recording we had experimented with a couple of other songs and out of these sessions I'd stumbled upon the chords for Wishing Well. I always imagined that Marcelo would be on the track some how and his traditional Brazialin Rebecca ( a relative of the violin ) seemed like the perfect match.

In my late teens I discovered drone music through playing the didgeridoo. In recent years throat singing has become a regular practice ( often sat in the car waiting for traffic ). This interest along with my on going fascination with Indian classical music, singing bowls and gongs led me to a wonderful musician and healer called Celia Beeson based in Bristol. After being entranced by her Sounding Silence sound sessions we quickly found common ground and one day, out of the blue, she very kindly gifted a traditional Indian Tambora to me. The instrument had a sentimental connection to her and it was her wish to pass it along to be played once more. I was honoured, and took great pleasure in recording this Tambora along with my Sitar in the droning depths of the throat singing on 'Wishing Well'.

Collaboration has shaped 'Wishing Well' much like lichen on a rock. However it won't be me who explores it's nuances this time. It's yours to discover now, to play, absorb and create your own worlds in. My only wish is that whoever does stumble upon it, that it nurtures hope. A gentle encouraging reassurance that we are all wonderful beings capable of deep kindness.

Josephine Philip – Little Boy

Josephine Philip releases fragile and poetic new single

https://www.facebook.com/josephinephilipmusic

Little Boy is the 4th single from Josephine Philip’s forthcoming solo album We Get Lost And Found. Out now on her label Midnight Confessions.

Little Boy fragile and poetic song about breaking free of the heavy chains of lost love. Releasing yourself from the sedated state of delusion. The composition reflects this state of mind; sometimes on the verge of collapse, returning with intention and hope, shuffling drums, hazy vocals, distorted guitars, and lyrics like a mantra for release.

Josephine Philip lives and works in Copenhagen. She is inspired by a wealth of artistic expression; choral works, contemporary art and performance, jazz standards, experimental music, film, literature and classical music, and uses this inspiration to tell her engaging tales and stories.

Philip released her debut single as a solo artist, Call My Name in May 2021 and her second The Clue in October 2021. Both songs have been in heavy rotation on Danish radio station P6 Beat and have been very warmly received on both Danish and foreign music media. In March 2022 she released her 3rd single No. 7.

The new album - We Get Lost And Found - is written and produced in collaboration with Copenhagen based producer and musician Lasse Martinussen and will be released in May 2022.

Josephine Philip was one half of the now defunct dynamic duo JaConfetti, was a founder of and served time in the all-female Ska outfit Favelachic and the dancefloor popular sound system Dullen & Dyken.

The singer crosses genres, having worked with several renowned producers including

co-writing and featuring in Christian Löffler’s ‘Running’ (which would appear in the Our Girl Series) and ‘The End’. As one half of the duo Darkness Falls, Josephine Philip has worked with Trentemøller, who acted as the producer for their EP and album. The duo also won a Robert prize (the Danish version of the Oscars) for Original Song of the Year for their contribution to the Danish film Shelley. During this time, they opened for the likes of The Shins and Yelle. Independently, Josephine has toured with Trentemøller

performing at major festivals such as Coachella and South by Southwest while earning support from publications such as Nothing But Hope And Passion, VENTS Magazine, Electronic Groove, and EDM Sauce.

She is also co-creator and one half of the performance duo Philip | Schneider - an experimental outfit with one foot rooted in sound and the other in visual arts. Formed in 2019 the ensemble has already performed some of the most influential Danish art institutions.
