“Is it possible to express sadness via music? Listen to this stunning track from Lycoriscoris and find the answer. Melancholic synth soundscapes in a mix that can deeply affect every listener. Select Shizumu to relieve any emotional pain in an effective way.”

-Nagamag.com

Japanese artist Yunosuke Senoo, aka Lycoriscoris, returns to Anjunadeep with the announcement of his upcoming album ‘Chiyu’, out March 26.

In recent years, Senoo has built a cult following as part of a new wave of Japanese producers. His signature blend of organic melodies with intricate sound design has won him support from the likes of DJ Koze, Michael Mayer, &ME, and BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart. A multi-instrumentalist, Senoo has played live alongside the likes of The Field and Moritz Von Oswald at Tokyo’s legendary Dommune.

Composed throughout 2020, ‘Chiyu’ documents Senoo’s journey of reflection and recovery.

“Memories and retrospection are the fundamental concepts that inspire my music. For instance, my own artist name plays on the name of the Lycoris flower. In Japan, it’s often found near cemeteries, which is of course a dark connotation – however, one day when searching in the Language of Flowers (Floriography) I discovered that the word Lycoris also means “I’m looking forward to seeing you again. I realized how this dark flower also hides a beautiful and positive message. I think my music, and my new album ‘Chiyu’, has the same kind of dualism as the Lycoris flower.”

With influences ranging from Boards of Canada and Christian Löffler, Senoo showcases his delicate production style over the 9 tracks of ‘Chiyu’. From the intertwining melodies in ‘Shizumu’ to the polyrhythmic textures of ‘Utsurou’, Seeno combines dreamy soundscapes with modern electronica. A skilled photographer, Senoo also provides the imagery for the album artwork shot in his native, Japan.

Senoo’s new album follows the release of his acclaimed LP ‘Flight’, released on Anjunadeep in 2018. Positioning in the top 5 Electronic albums on iTunes, ‘Flight’ gained support on tastemaker stations including BBC Radio 1, KEXP, and NTS Radio as well as international press support.

‘Chiyu’ is available on March 26 from Anjunadeep.

Cydeways – “We Won’t Run” feat. Pepper (Video)

Categories: The Latest, Video, World Music|Tags: , , , , |

“Cydeways new release strikes like thunder from your soundsystem. Whether you prefer some Alternative Rock or not, you should try this. We loved that lyrics and the electric guitar chords can keep playing in the mind.”

-Nagamag.com

Reggae has a long history and deep, sacred roots as a music of resistance to the authoritarian establishment — it is protest music we can dance to freely while taking a united stand against political corruption, racism, and social injustice.

West Coast alternative rock and reggae band Cydeways has just delivered a potent reminder of that essential connection with the release of their new single “We Won’t Run” featuring legendary Hawaiian reggae-rock band Pepper. The timely and socially relevant single comes ahead of the band’s first full-length album with LAW Records, slated to be released later this year.

https://www.instagram.com/cydewaysmusic/

Calling attention to the unprecedented era of racial violence and social discontent we now find ourselves living in, the powerful track combines the visceral energy of Rage Against the Machine with the poetic and political potency of Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up”:

As we stand, there’s a gun up in their hand

telling us to back down while we’re screaming “fuck the man”

We can’t eat, can’t sleep,

‘We can’t breathe’

So why would I have to do what you believe?

Over a million screaming that they’re finally done

But we ain’t gonna run…

With superbly profound lyrics and grooves punctuated by spring reverb hits like ominous gunshots, Cydeways evokes images of the day Minneapolis police officers publicly murdered George Floyd in a blatant public display of institutionalized racism, while at once declaring a vehement collective manifesto that we will not submit to the hatred and governmental monopoly on violence that both infects and defines our current national zeitgeist.

“The chorus says it all!” asserts Cydeways founder and frontman Dustin Parks. “It’s a message to the negative forces that we won’t back down and become complacent with everything that’s going on in our society right now. Despite the mass unemployment, the racism, the fear, and all this crazy shit going on…we won’t become that. Cydeways has never really talked about anything like this before, so I think the song is also a sign of how we are growing as a band”.

Cydeways was originally started by Parks and Trevor Buckingham in Boston, MA as a self-described ‘basement project’. Eager for new opportunities, he ended up moving the project out to California, eventually landing in Santa Barbara, where he met and recruited Jeremy Baker on guitar, Casey Kernohan on drums. Parks co-produced the track with Buckingham & Dana Shoults, who both pulled double-duty as engineers.

In this fully rounded-out emanation, Cydeways began playing shows and recording extensively, earning themselves a reputation among their peers as a solid band. Eventually, Parks’s friend Joe D. from Iration introduced Parks to core Pepper member Yesod Williams, who was impressed enough to sign the band to his quickly growing reggae label LAW Records.

In 2020, Cydeways released their debut EP After Hours, featuring veteran reggae bands like Ballyhoo! and Grieves. Late last year, the band followed up by releasing a dub remix of their 2018 song “Shadows” (feat. Grieves), performed by E.N Young. Currently, Cydeways is working on wrapping up their long-anticipated full-length LP to be released later this year.

The new single “We Won’t Run” featuring Pepper is now available on all major streaming platforms!

Andreas Kübler – We Could Be Stars (Video)

Categories: Blogwave, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Andreas Kubler delivers a new epic track to illuminate your dark moments. Prepare yourself for a short trip in space and back to Earth. Powerful mix that follows an upright direction and unearthly vocal touch in a super galactic video.”

-Nagamag.com

Andreas Kübler’s life is all about music. He went on stage to tour Europe as singer and bass guitar player right after school, played lots of music and left the stage again to compose even more. His style could be described as epic music, but plainly emotional would cover it better. A contemporary, modern orchestral sound is the basis of his compositions, but that’s all that makes them comparable.

Andreas is one of the founders and the lead composer of the popular music studio IMAscore and responsible for the music of some of the most successful movie marketing campaigns of all time. This includes Disney’s The Lion King, Aladdin, How To Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World, Avengers and the Star Wars saga. On top of that the music he wrote for the Captain Marvel promotional campaign won the prestigious Clio Gold Award in 2019.

Andreas Küblers public music is the musical portrayal of his artist self. No limitations, no briefings, no boundaries.
