Categories: House, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“We just couldn’t resist to comment on this one. Feel the energy flowing in your body, bringing the desire to dance! A fresh masterpiece with already enough followers.”

-Nagamag.com

SeeMeNot’s ‘Chez Renee EP’ is the second release from the hotly-tipped Jamaican-Canadian artist and musician, and features remixes from Joe Goddard. The ‘Chez Renee EP’, including Goddard’s full length and dub mixes, is released on 4 December, alongside another new SeeMeNot song, ‘If I Could’. Goddard’s radio edit is available from 20 November. Early DJ support for the EP comes from DJ T., Digitaria / TERR, Sam Shure, Rhythm Masters, Kiddy Smile, ONYVA, Roger Sanchez, Ferreck Dawn, Benny Benassi, Paco Osuna, Peter Kruder, Spada, Nicole Moudaber, BOg, xxxy, WhoMadeWho, Greg Delon, Dee Montero, Eelke Kleijn, Auntie Flo, Severino / Horse Meat Disco, Henry Saiz, Da Mike, Øostil, and more.

Tipped by Mixmag, DJ Mag, Beatportal, i-D, and more, SeeMeNot brings both purpose and protest back to house music. Her debut release, ‘Borderline’, came with remixes from Roman Flügel, and dropped in September. The world radio premiere came from Radio 1 (Pete Tong), with DJ support from Skream, Anja Schneider, Solomun, Adriatique, TSHA, Erol Alkan, Adana Twins, Monika Kruse, Andhim, Tim Sweeney, Chloé, Marco Carola, Digitalism, and many more.

‘Borderline’ was included on SeeMeNot’s first creative work, her July 2020 debut mixtape ‘Long Overdue: The Sound Of A Revolution’, along with an excerpt of Tamika Mallory’s powerful speech in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Released via her Soundcloud page, ‘Long Overdue’ featured SeeMeNot singing a cappella over a mix from DJ Oliver Baptiste. The 30 minutes of music is the sound of a Black female artist detailing the journey of Black people from Fight to Flight, channelling the pain she’s experiencing – and experienced – into something beautiful that pays respect to her ancestors but serves as a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional healing through singing and music. Influences from country music to gospel are joined through a shared history of hymnals as both protest and healing music.

About SeeMeNot:

SeeMeNot seeks to carve out new spaces for what is marketable and achievable within an industry that relies so heavily on the consumption of Blackness. A highly successful model from her early teens, in 2009, she suddenly found it hard to find work as a model in New York after appearing in the documentary The Colour of Beauty, a short exposé bringing to light the pervasive structural racism in the fashion industry during a time that it was not such a palatable conversation.

During this turbulent period, music became Renee’s coping mechanism and vehicle for self-expression. She began writing songs in a music studio in Yonkers, New York alongside a few friends who had suffered the same fate. The first song she wrote, ‘Some Of Me’, followed a similar structure to Azealia Banks’ 212. It was the electronic element of 212 that captured Renee’s interest in more dance music led production. Working with Jamaican sound-system and reggae DJs and producers shifted her style slightly but with the onset of debt caused by the recession and possible liability lawsuits due to the feature in The Colour of Beauty, Renee made the difficult decision to move back to her hometown of Toronto, and now New York. The last 4 years has been a time of healing and rehabilitation.

NEW YORK, NY (December 4, 2020) – International phenomenon DJ Shaan releases a new single entitled “By Heart” with Londin Thompson today. Get it HERE via Casablanca Records.

The history-making Indian producer, artist, and DJ recruited buzzing Cleveland-born singer and songwriter Londin Thompson to deliver an instantly infectious anthem, blurring the lines between electronic dance music and pop. Finger-snaps, airy keys, and shimmering synths glow beneath her fluttering hook, “Oh we’ve come so far, I know you by heart.”

About the single, DJ Shaan commented, “By Heart is a song by my heart. A song that resonates with me when I met the woman who showed me everything that love is about, then unfortunately separated and now far away. Always knowing the person inside and out, as they say By Heart ‘even in the dark I know you by heart’.”

DJ Shaan made his North American debut earlier this year with “Paradise” [feat. SAKIMA]. It established him worldwide as a buzzing presence in dance music, receiving radio support from BPM, BBC Radio, and more. As well as backing from dance media champions Dancing Astronaut, YourEDM, and MixMag who spotlighted DJ Shaan in a special documentary series, Global Dancefloor.

ABOUT DJ SHAAN

Vaulting to the forefront of electronic dance music and representing Indian culture worldwide, 25-year-old DJ Shaan has made history, generated millions of streams, and ignited the hottest festivals in the world with stunning regularity. Among numerous accolades, he notably became “the first Indian DJ to grace the bill of Tomorrowland,” “the most-played Indian dance music artist on the radio in the USA,” “India’s most-followed DJ,” and “the first Indian artist signed to Casablanca Records.” Given this track record, he unsurprisingly kicked off his career with a star-making set at Sunburn Festival in Goa. Just 15-years-old at the time, he would be “the youngest person to play the festival.” Over the past decade, he ascended to global prominence, performing alongside titans, including Armin Van Buuren, Hardwell, Swedish House Mafia, Afrojack, and the late Avicii. A sought-after talent, he has also officially remixed superstars such as Steve Aoki, Louis Tomlinson, Sandra Silva, Lost Kings, Naughty Boy, and Calum Scott, to name a few. Moreover his solo catalog comprises “Light Up The World” [feat. Lauren Evans], “Must Be Love,” and more.

In 2020, DJ Shaan kicks off what promises to be his biggest, boldest, and best chapter yet. His debut single for Casablanca Records, “Paradise,” fuses a big room chant, propulsive grooves, and high-energy synths as a hypnotic hook takes hold.

ABOUT LONDIN THOMPSON

Each lyric brings you a little closer to Londin Thompson. Candid confessions, off-the-cuff observations, and delicate details depict her life without posturing or pretense. For as unassumingly personal as the approach may be, her voice seamlessly stretches from gentle intonation into irresistible hooks. After independently generating millions of streams, her Republic Records debut tells a real and relatable story. Under her birth name Julia Thompson, the self-described “girl from Cleveland” stirred up a buzz independently with the single “Hits.” On its heels, “Spark” captured coveted real estate on playlists such as Spotify’s Fresh Finds [713K followers] and Fresh Finds: Pop [86K followers]. Meanwhile, “Nights” graced New Music Friday [3.6 million followers]. As she cultivated a following, she also garnered airplay on MTV. This summer, she made her debut with “Wish It Would Rain.” Not only did the song generate nearly half-a-million total streams, but it also drew tastemaker praise. Cleveland.com described her as “a pop music hybrid whose voice and sound can range from the melancholy whisper of Billie Eilish to the soulful power of Alessia Cara.” Billboard touted “Wish It Would Rain” as one of “10 Cool New Pop Songs To Get You Through The Week” and called it “a detailed bit of acoustic-pop that showcases the newcomer’s gentle yet commanding vocal delivery.” Londin welcomes you right into her heart with every song.

RESPONS – Maisie (Video)

“Another prototype example of music. One can easily discover the Respons’ personal signature in this example which atracts your attention from the very first seconds.”

-Nagamag.com

Thursday 3rd December – London UK; Following critically claimed collaboration with Samm Henshaw & Barney Artist, fast rising British soulful rapper/singer RESPONS releases his new single ‘Maisie’ today.

The next single taken from his forthcoming EP; ‘Maisie’ is a delicately downbeat track that continues RESPONS commitment to being real and weaves together the bombastic, melodic style of his influences – from Dominic Fike to Brockhampton – with searing lyrical honesty.

“I wrote the track after chatting to a girl I genuinely met one time called Maisie. She was really troubled, and mentally struggling with stuff. It stuck with me. But for me, the song is just a big up to the women in my life – the women that I know that have gone through similar stuff. The whole message of the song is: You’re one in a million, and you’re gonna be alright”

Making waves in 2020 with his recent collaboration with Samm Henshaw and Barney Artist on critically acclaimed track ‘Hilary’ and debut project, ‘Virtually Everything Means Nothing’; RESPONS boom-bap stylings have turned heads at BBC Radio 1 with Jack Saunders Future Artists support, landed BBC 1Xtra Record Of The Week alongside tastemaker support from the likes of Complex, Wonderland, GRM, Clash, and Colors.

RESPONS new EP is tipped to do big things in early 2021. Hailing not from an inner city, but rather the quiet suburbs of Leighton Buzzard, RESPONS (aka Billy Crabtree) has a vulnerable approach that makes him a captivating rising star, combining the old-school sensitivities of artists like Loyle Carner or Maverick Sabre, with a future-facing commitment to speaking his mind. Whether it’s mental health, empowerment, or introspective musings on family life, RESPONS is straight-talking and not afraid to commit his truth to record and is set to be an essential voice for 2021.

“Carefully composed melodies with lyrics from an experienced singer. Townsend drives you up to his point of view in an expressive way of singing. Just sit back and relax!”

-Nagamag.com

This song is about the post-breakup-hookups that usually happen for a few months after a relationship ends. It's hard to just stop seeing each other completely and usually both parties play a role in instigating. In my case, even though both of us were guilty of texting each other the "come over" text, I couldn't help but feel responsible.

Jennifer Bowman – Lonely (Spotify)

“Classical piano melodies in a direct connection with the specific artistic feeling. An apparently best way to express via notes of craft and transfer the feeling into sound.”

-Nagamag.com

This is #12 of 19 preludes written during the 2020 pandemic. It was inspired by a few different elements of loneliness--doing activities alone that used to be done with others, the loneliness of virtual connection, the loneliness felt when you can't see your loved ones, the loneliness of walking down a street that used to have more activity. I hope you enjoy it.
