Vincent Liou releases his vivid, sensational music video for his lonesome and desolate indie-pop single, “Safe to Consume”

JULY 23RD, 2021 – Directed by Torin Dinh, Arizona-based artist Vincent Liou released his third official music video of 2021 for his track “Safe to Consume”, which is also the third song on his four-track EP titled ‘Big Surf’.

“Safe to Consume”

Inspired by John Mayer’s notorious “New Light” music video, “Safe to Consume” was filmed at a house and dirt road by the mountains in Phoenix, Arizona with the intention of creating a comical yet sensational song on the Internet. Despite the minor hiccups – including the car's window being too tinted and not being able to film any shots looking into the car – the music video production all worked out better than expected.

The primary narrative behind “Safe to Consume” is all about never giving up on your relationships or goals, and trying to better oneself. There are times in life when you go through ups-and-downs, but knowing that you're doing the best you can should always be enough. In essence, the song was written about the notion of taking a look at all your current struggles and obstacles in your life – whether it be vices or personal shortcomings – and saying, "I believe in myself, I can do this."

While the song is an indie-pop track at its core, the song was written with pop-punk influences from bands such as blink-182 and State Champs. In the song, Vincent Liou sang in the vocal range that was closest to his speaking voice to provide a pleasurable break from the other songs on the Big Surf EP, which are sung in relatively higher ranges.

Vincent wrote the lyrics with tongue in cheek to remind his fans that while life is unpredictable, you’ll be fine as long as you keep going and have a good moral compass. “Safe to Consume” was created as a self-reminder and proclamation to the world that whenever you face rejection or feel like a failure, you should listen to this song and remember that you are enough – always.

“When you have a shot that requires you to see the inside of the car, make sure the windows aren't tinted.”

Ghostly Kisses – Don’t Know Why (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“There’s the haunting melody, the perfectly produced acoustic guitar, orchestration & mellow ambience, & then there’s the absolutely captivating, & thoroughly absorbing vocals of Margaux Sauvé, all of which build & release “Don’t Know Why” by ‘Ghostly Kisses’ to an unforgettable, heart felt dialogue of regret & remorse to a resigned, ‘I have to play this again’ conclusion.”

-Nagamag.com

“Don’t Know Why talks about a separation, the moment when you realize

you’ve tried everything and you don't want to fight anymore. ‘Don’t know why I could never make it alright’ is sung in the chorus, expressing failure, guilt and the realization that you have to accept defeat and go your own way.”

Alyssa Jacey is a multi-genre, award-winning singer/songwriter, inspirational career coach, and professional dancer/choreographer. Her other love affairs like motivational speaking, acting, modeling, improv musical comedy, and TV Hosting became more than just part-time passions after moving to Nashville nearly 10 years ago from her hometown San Diego, California. Her infectious personality, easy-going music, and smooth vocals make Jacey a deeply original artist. With her many fans, including legendary artist manager, Doc McGhee (Bon Jovi, Kiss, Motley Crue, Darius Rucker), and Ron Delsener (President of Live Nation, NYC) this quintuple threat cannot be overlooked! Jacey was about to turn 24 when she learned she could sing for the first time. Until the stage became her second home as an artist, she had unknowingly been greatly influenced over the years by the vocal stylings of Sarah McLachlan, Joss Stone, Amy Grant, and Jewel, which fans later would credit for her honey-like tone. Other vocal comparisons have been made to Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow, and Alison Krauss, as well as Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. However, when you take a listen to her catalog of over 400 songs (a quarter of them released), you’ll notice she only sounds like one person…herself

Kate Vargas – Church of the Misdirection (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Unique, raunchy, quirky & ever so slightly intoxicating. Allow yourself to be seduced by the silver tongued Kate Vardas as she is unwittingly transformed into an enthusiastic spiritual predator, & convinces you become a follower of the ‘Church Of Misdirection’. Go on. You know you want to.”

-Nagamag.com

“Church Of The Misdirection” was loosely inspired by Ma Anand Sheela from the documentary ‘Wild, Wild Country ’where a woman becomes enamored by a charming self-help/cult leader. The two fly all over the world together, having fancy dinners, going to parties, and living that lifestyle. She begins to feel the charming man really “gets” her and that they connect on some kind of deeper level. In “Church Of The Misdirection,” Kate sings about how Ma Anand Sheela goes from a seeker/follower, to a recruiter of sorts.

Kate shares, “We can sell anything, even the most preposterous ideas/flimsiest spiritual beliefs, if it looks good on the outside, if we speak about it enthusiastically. What started as a simple search to find oneself, to connect with the world, sees this person being transformed into a kind of “spiritual” predator without her ever knowing.”

Jai Uttal – After The Fire (Shiva’s Lullaby) (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, The Latest, World Music|Tags: , , , , |

“-After The Fire (Shiva's Lullaby) is a way to break out of the storm hugs and push off from the impending sea puchin. Music sends your consciousness to your possessions, beyond the limits of reality and will contemplate with you unshakable and such majestic horizons in our immense universe.”

“-After The Fire (Shiva's Lullaby)- способ вырваться из объятий шторма и оттолкнуться от надвигающейся морской пучины. Музыка отправляет ваше сознание в свои владения, за пределы реальности и будет созерцать вместе с вами непоколебимые и такие величественные горизонты нашей необъятной вселенной.”

-Nagamag.com

Noted for his heartfelt renditions and upbeat barn burners of classic Kirtans (Sanskrit chants from ancient India), Jai Uttal, who has just passed his 70th birthday, and was part of the successful Chant For India event that raised over 100,000 USD for COVID relief in Mother India, is excited to announce tomorrow’s release of his new single, “After the Fire (Shiva’s Lullaby).” The song is available in all audio formats at https://ffm.to/afterthefire.

“After the Fire (Shiva’s Lullaby)” is the first single release from Jai’s upcoming album, Let Me Burn, that will be coming out on August 4. For the last year and half the world has been in a cocoon, inwardly burning, waiting for the chrysalis to fall away. As we enter the summer months and our hearts begin to emerge, ready to fly, and feeling the global need for a healing and nurturing sonic balm, Jai decided to make his first single release from Let Me Burn this deeply meditative piece.

Jai describes the song as, “Concealed in the vast glaciers of Mount Kailash, after the fires of destruction, even Lord Shiva sleeps. With Mahadev’s head in Parvati’s lap, dreadlocks askew, the divine Goddess intones to her beloved the sacred five syllable mantra ‘Na Ma Shi Va Ya’, and peace shrouds the universes.”

Jai sang and played guitar and harmonium on the song, with keyboards, engineering, and mixing handled by his longtime collaborator and producer, Marin music scene stalwart Ben Leinbach.

With COVID-19, the intense fires of Northern California and the social and political strife of the last year or so, Jai notes, “2020 was a year full of challenges, but it has also been a year of deep healing, personal growth and more intimate family interaction. It’s also been a time of deeply connecting with my extended family and greater Bhakti community. I’ve been doing weekly live stream concerts and Kirtans, that have been a great point of focus for myself in terms of preparing and creating new songs and practicing my older songs, as well as bringing our extended Bhakti family and community together over Zoom. The pandemic has also pushed us to create online Kirtan Camps. These events have been greatly appreciated, and have enabled people from all over the world, who would never have been able to attend a Kirtan Camp in person, to join us. The recent loosening of restrictions and the recent opportunity to give back to India, a country that has given me so much, have given me hope that 2021 will be a vast improvement over last year.”

Artist shared few words behind this song inspiration with Nagamag:

" This song was written while I was quarantining in a basement in Alaska. The solitude really brought up a lot of emotions for me. I had just gone through a breakup and really missed the person- this song is what came up during that experience. The idea of wanting the sadness and the pain of missing someone to be over, and looking forward to that day while still being sad in the moment. " - Kat Kennedy

Leeroy Stagger-Ventura (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“In -Ventura-, as if watching the illusory journey of the artist, enjoy with him the sunlight and mirages of invisible phantoms. Surprisingly, you fully live all 4 minutes of this track. Exact and multifaceted, bright and clean, romantic and warm moments…”

“В -Ventura- ты словно следишь за иллюзорным путешествием исполнителя, вместе с ним наслаждаешься солнечными бликами и миражами невидимых фантомов. Удивительно, но ты полностью проживаешь все 4 минуты трека. Волнующие и многогранные, светлые и чистые, романтичные и такие тёплые мгновения…”

Leeroy Stagger finds inspiration through grief on his new single ‘Ventura’ out today on all digital streaming platforms.

“The song ‘Ventura’ is about my friend Neal Casal,” says Leeroy. “The first time I met Neal was on a magical night in New York City, he was working on Willie Nelson’s Songbird record as he was in Ryan Adams’ band The Cardinals at the time. He invited us out to the 17th St. bar where all the Cardinals were hanging out, he introduced me to the band and they all had laughed how they were happy that Ryan wasn’t there because they didn’t want me to have a bad impression of him.

“Neil was always enthusiastic. We ran into him a few years later in Nottingham, England, where Ryan was playing the big theatre. Neal came out for coffee with me and my wife Coby and always had such nice things to say about my music and my career. He even sang on my Everything Is Real record, which was such an honour for me. Before he tragically passed, we had been in touch about him possibly playing guitar on some new music I was working on.

“I wanted to pay tribute to my friend in song. When it came time to make a video, I thought it would be very cool to have something surf related, as Neal was such a big surfer. He loved the ocean. I found this great old surf footage from California in the 50s on YouTube and approached the fellow who owned it (Wes Timmons) who also happened to be a film editor. He lovingly edited the video into the dream state we see. It fits perfectly to the song and is a beautiful tribute to Neal.”

‘Ventura’ is the first single from Leeroy Stagger’s new album Dystopian Weekends, which is set for release on October 1st. Recorded at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver at the beginning of the global pandemic, Leeroy says that “Dystopian Weekends is the serum of truth with a slice of light and darkness that we all need right now.”
