Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“In a bunch of many acoustic piano vocal songs tracks we receive, is hard to define what makes one to stand out sometimes. But with tracks as this of Juliet Ariel, it becomes more clear. The right gently piano performance with dynamics that hit in well sync with vocal changes, the quality of production and the beautiful voice and vocal performance of the songwriter as Juliet wins you quick. You understand the good music in first seconds of listens, and this is what we felt here with first piano notes and when vocals hit in, first impression usually not fails for such productions!”

Australia-based French-African singer-songwriter Juliet Ariel released the acoustic version of her latest single “Summer Luv” . It’s an emotional take on Summer Luv, stripped down to just piano and vocals.

The original version was released on July 3rd and added into 10+ worldwide playlists on Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, Soundcloud, Napster, Youtube Music and Amazon Music.

“Summer Luv” is available through AWAL and is taken from her upcoming EP, “Endless Summer”, which is expected later this year.

Announcing the new single the singer says:

“I wanted to make a song that could bring back summer all year long, to endlessly remind me of the good times and capture the nostalgia of a summer romance, a feeling that everyone must have experienced at least once in their life. I took inspiration from my afro-latin roots for some of the rhythms, but overall it's a dance song with simple lyrics that I feel anyone could easily relate and have fun listening to.”

Born in the D.R Congo, Juliet is a French singer, songwriter & producer. She of African and Portuguese descent and speaks fluently in French and English.

Juliet made an impactful introduction with her self- produced single “Take Me With You” which reached 10M+ views collectively on Youtube, 1.7M+ streams on Spotify and 1.3M+ streams on Soundcloud which lead to her catching the attention of labels and tastemakers from around the world including, Nora En Pure, Black Coffee and Simon Field and publications such as Dancing Astronaut and KALTBLUT to name a few.

She was inspired by the art and fashion scene in Paris where she grew up. Originally studying to become a make-up artist, it was there where she experienced as a young teen the ultra-fashionable nightclub scene and had her first taste of French- electronic artists like Justice and Daft Punk who still inspire her today.

Greater Bird of Paradise – Uriel (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Listening to this song after a more layered elecronica reviewing session was like that sun beams from the cloud to the sea. The soft acoustic guitar offered directly a clean and chill listening and when the vocals of ambient folk singer "Great Bird Of Paradise" hit in, with her warm voice, my heart hover gently, like a butterfly starts her short trip to the next flower. The song is a hauntingly beautiful plea to a mythological archangel for social justice, for us a song that definately will return many times to seek its peace.”

Hailing from Brooklyn, Sam Christopher, aka Greater Bird of Paradise, combines a unique ethereal vocal style with classic folk elements. Utilizing a mercurial wit and inventive lyrics, Sam's songs are both familiar and progressive, with sprinkles of psychedelia and ambient influence. The latest single, "Uriel", creates an aura of sublime mysticism as it tracks an internal plea from the singer towards one of the archangels of judeo christian traditon. Combining elements of classic spiritual hymn with contemporary experimentalism and attitude, the lyrics alternate from impressionistic imagery to more concrete requests for the supernatural to aid in the creation of a more just society.

The Forever Now – Reciprocals (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“The Forever now with their song "Reciprocals" deliver us a top notch sound layering minimalism, where through their solid mix and production level push all the shine out of those warm vocals and place it among the wonderful pop chill track we have listen lately.”

-Nagamag.com

At times an honest and naked statement about the end of a relationship, while others the relationship becomes a metaphor for broader statements about the world, “Reciprocals” is a bittersweet song about failing to recognize one’s own shortcomings and over-analyzing a situation rather than acting out of compassion. Beautifully mixed by Ken Andrews (m83, Nine Inch Nails, The Naked and Famous) and mastered by Randy Merrill (Adele, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga) It plays on the double meaning of the word, “is that reciprocal?” as in “do you feel the same?” and “I’ve been spending time with reciprocals” as in “I keeping looking at this as an equation”.

After 10 years of demos, this song is the professional debut for The Forever Now. The song was a true labour of love with 4 years of songwriting, 1 lifetime savings, 2 (thankfully negative) Covid tests, and 1 band break up in the making. Written and re-written, recorded and re-recorded countless times over the 4 years it took to complete the song around a master’s thesis and a full-time job, the song marks a return to form for the The Forever Now, coming back to the indie synth-pop sound of their earliest demos, while adopting a more organic sonic textures.

Magic Bronson – “ITILYN” (Video)

Categories: Features, Pop, Songwriter Features, Video|Tags: , , |

“We think you love this now as we did! Magic Bronson’s new song ITILYN is all about good vibes and leave in the present moment, discover the beauty that is all around you, yet sometimes due of bad mood you act blindfolded.”

-Nagamag.com

Los Angeles born-and-based duo Magic Bronson return to the forefront of the indie-pop rock scene with their upcoming single “ITILYN” (I Think I Love You Now), due out next week! The woozy new track follows the recently released “Surfin” and “Tell All Your Friends” which have garnered praise far and wide and will all be on the forthcoming SWEAT album, due out this fall!

This new synth-tastic track features cruising vocals and syncopated percussion to create this head-nodding song. “ITILYN” (I Think I Love You Now) is a fresh take on a love affair with Los Angeles. With references to “skating down the boardwalk” and a love for all her quirks like sitting in traffic, life slowing down has taught us to appreciate all the things we often overlooked.

“‘ITILYN’ was inspired by our love/hate relationship with Los Angeles,” the duo share. “We were both born in LA and still live here so we definitely have a unique perspective. I think sometimes when you grow up in a city you can take it for granted a bit and not realize how much great stuff there is to do and see as opposed to someone who moves to LA and is really excited to go out and see the sights. We’ve both lived on the East and West side and they both have their own cool quirks and qualities which we wanted to touch on in the lyrics. I think a lot of people in LA get stuck in the traffic or bogged down by the high rent and have these fantasies of moving somewhere else that’s cheaper or easier but then you get an LA sunset or a perfect day cruising the boardwalk and you realize ah man this city’s actually pretty great. Just when you feel like you’ve had enough something happens to remind you why you actually do love living there and why you put up with all the hardships.”

“ITILYN,” “Surfin,” and “Tell All Your Friends” will all be included in Magic Bronson’s upcoming album SWEAT. Magic Bronson continue to spearhead music trends, tackling social issues and the anxiety of what’s going on in the world and coupling it with sensational and experimental melodies. The new album is fun, enlightening and uplifting all while tackling topics like the power of friendship and the uncertainty of trying times.

Vera Blue – Lie To Me (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Lie To Me by Vera Blue is a wonderful electro pop track vibes that could definately soundtrack the memories of a summer relationship. Breathy, minimalistic and with solid mix!”

-Nagamag.com

Following her smash hit “Rushing Back” with Flume, Australian electro pop powerhouse Vera Blue delivers the next exhilarating chapter with the release of her new single “Lie To Me” out now via Republic Records—listen HERE!

If the tracks on the Australian sensation’s debut album Perennial were written in the ashes of a devastating break up, then “Lie To Me” is Vera Blue (a.k.a Celia Pavey) losing her mind at the other end of the romantic spectrum—falling IN love. “Lie To Me” is anchored to a pulsating, tropical beat with a shrewd hybrid of live and electronic drums, interweaving a scattering of ominous sounding vocal samples and synths. It’s a summery dance hit with extra layers of sonic tension, as Vera Blue sings, “Would you lie to me? If I lie, would you lie? Say goodbye to me?”

Intriguingly, Vera Blue is not directing these lyrical questions at the object of her affection but at the warring voices in her own head—some validating and amplifying her panic and jealousy, the others imploring her to take hold and not destroy a good thing. Of “Lie To Me,” Vera Blue says, “When you go through a lot of emotional shit, you can’t imagine yourself in a new relationship. Then you suddenly fall into one, and the fear and mistrust can be overwhelming: ‘Is this as amazing as it seems, or is it going to blow up in my face again?’”

The song has been brought to life with Vera Blue’s producing/co-writing team of Andy and Thom Mak and engineer Jackson Barclay. Vera Blue says, “The lyrics and melodies that I wrote with Thom came from a more poetic and obscure experimental place for both of us, with Andy digging into new exciting sonic landscapes imitating the raw emotion and Jackson bringing the tones to life tracking various instruments through the amazing sounding console and outboard gear at the grove studios. This song had us all wide eyed and buzzing.”

For “Lie To Me,” Vera Blue’s extraordinary vocals are at capacity which she credits to three years of relentless live performing and projecting her voice over festival crowds. As well as her sold out headline shows, she has played Splendour in the Grass and Lollapalooza, both as a solo artist and as part of a world tour with Flume.

She says, “I recently watched some video of myself when I first started performing—my voice was so sweet and innocent! I could not have reached the belting moments at the end of ‘Lie To Me’ back then. My voice is stronger than it ever has been, which enhances what we create in the studio.”
