Brazilian Singer-Songwriter Thaís Gulin Makes U.S. Debut with Sultry New Single ‘quar3ntine – a valentine in the quarantine’
Gulin Addresses Politics, Love, and Social Issues with Artful Video Filmed by Neighbors During Quarantine in Copacabana
Renowned Brazilian songstress and actress Thaís Gulin has released her quarantine-inspired single “quar3ntine – a valentine in the quarantine.” The avant-garde video for her American debut was filmed remotely in May of 2020, during a time when the once lively city of Rio de Janeiro, became deserted due to the coronavirus pandemic. Gulin channels her free spirit in her first release since her 2013 hit, “Cinema Big Butts.” Gulin was lovestruck at the beginning of the pandemic, but also disgusted by the outlandish behavior of her country’s president.
https://links.altafonte.com/quar3ntine
“When COVID-19 first hit Brazil, we watched President Bolsonaro carelessly mishandle the pandemic by allowing the virus to rapidly spread throughout the country. He seemed to enjoy it,” explains Gulin. “He would encourage people to disregard public health guidelines such as wearing masks and staying six feet apart, and would publicly mingle with his supporters by shaking their hands and hugging them. This is a political song disguised as a love song. It’s like if the emergency of love was running in parallel to the despair of political happenings.”
Gulin appointed her neighbor as director of photography, who also doubled as her cameraman. The video cascades through various scenes of Gulin intimately singing to her audience of one, while creatively layering in stunning backdrops of the vacant coasts of Rio de Janeiro, giving the video both a multidimensional and observational feel.

Nicky Romero – Why Do I Call (Video)
“Nicky Romero presents a short story about his lost love. Production with well-organized sound patterns and plenty of dancing vibrations. Strong beat, catchy effects and expressive lyrics that provoke an uplifting mood. Put on your headphones and feel that energy flow.”
-Nagamag.com

Nicky Romero returns to Virgin Records/Universal Music with the new dance-pop crossover gem “Why Do I Call” to follow up on his last year’s debut “Nights With You.” The Dutch veteran producer once again showcases his dynamic abilities by opening with soulful vocals and organic instrumentals, letting the heartfelt lyrics shine before leading into a deep house-influenced chorus. The song plays to anyone who has chased the past, adding a rhythmic dance twist to an otherwise radio-friendly track. Nicky Romero began his partnership with Virgin/Universal and forayed into the softer side of the electronic dance music spectrum just last year after also launching his underground side-project Monocule while heading up his imprint Protocol Recordings, so we can’t wait to see what he comes up with next.
After taking the world by storm with early hits such as “Legacy” with Krewella and the #1 single “I Could Be The One” with Avicii, Nicky Romero quickly proved that his talent is ever-evolving and here to stay. After launching his Protocol Recordings imprint in 2012, the renowned performer, producer, and label head continued his personal successes with a string of high-profile releases, ranging from collaborations with Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, W&W, Timmy Trumpet and Steve Aoki to remixes for the likes of Robin Schulz, Kygo, Rita Ora, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Jess Glynne and more. While showcasing his label’s roster via his weekly Protocol Radio show, Nicky Romero continues to innovate and evolve, and with his annual “Nicky Romero & Friends” ADE showcase and the launch of Monocule alter-ego, he keeps proving his ability to turn into gold everything he touches.

Alfie Arcuri – DEVILS LIPS (Video)
“Track of completely unimaginable beauty, with the beautiful and charismatic vocals of -Alfie arcuri-. Thanks to its interesting sound arrangement, a pleasant aftertaste appears when listening. Also the positive vibrations of Synthpop make you play it on repeat.”
“Трек совершенно невообразимой красоты, с красивым и харизматичным вокалом -Alfie Arcuri-. Благодаря интересной аранжировке остаётся приятное послевкусие после прослушивания, а позитивные вибрации synthpop заставляют поставить песню на повтор. ”

Devil’s Lips is a fun pop song with a darker and deeper meaning – similar to ‘Dancing on my own’ – a song you can dance to or cry to (but most likely both). It is about temptation, identity and a coming of age.

Singer and songwriter Frya has released her smash hit B.D.E following her success with Netflix’s Blood & Water Season 2 soundtrack. The 27 year-old singer has worked with celebrated producer Mr Kamera on the single, whose music video is also breathtaking. Her forthcoming album Balance is now available for pre-order.

“BDE is a song I created for myself and other women to feel empowered about what they want and to be bold enough to say it. I want the song to be a powerful statement for everyone who hears it. I want it to be a record people play when they need to feel empowered, when they’re about to shoot their shot. I just want people to feel free to be fully themselves and I hope this record helps them with that.

Working on this record with Mr Kamera was so much fun. He’s such an incredible producer, he gets my voice and knows exactly how to capture that African sound and fuse it with dancehall.”
The pair worked together on the Blood & Water soundtrack – featuring four of her songs from her forthcoming album. This is a monumental feat for a new artist who is yet to release a full body of work and a true testament to Frya’s star power and talent.
The four songs Chandelier, Back it Up, Calculate and Changes are part of her much anticipated forthcoming debut album, Balance.
Her vocal prowess, relatable yet powerful writing skills and her versatile sonic embodiment makes Frya an artist to watch from the continent. Her sound is unique and fresh, inspired by her exposure to different parts of the world, having lived abroad.

GIUDI – Jezinky (Video)
“Are you ready to get lost in the magic of “Jezinky”? This piece has nothing in common with what you’ve heard so far. It’s a call for a new sound experience, where everything is made from vocals! Stunning mix of different voices forming a mystic environment which didn’t let us unaffected.”
-Nagamag.com
“There were some voices outside: “Smiley, Smiley, open the door: we only want to warm up in front of your fire and then we’ll leave you in peace. Every day the wild women of the woods, knocked on his door and finally one day Smiley opened the door and they’took him away into the woods…”
Giudi says: “Although I normally use electronic music I felt it would be wonderful to bring to everybody a piece of the mystical Czech magic, using voices as instruments so I’ve recorded a completely acapela song
Something different and authentic, inspired by our own wonderful Czech music and culture.
“Jezinky” are the legendary wild woman from the Bohemian Woods. They are mythical creatures seducing people to get lost with them in the woods. Now imagine the Jezinky represent your fears. I wanted to make a music video that reflects how people can feel lost and empty nowdays. We are all “lost in the woods” with tons of information and uncertainties. In the song I lure the listeners into my forest of spells and magic, so they can play the game with me.”
Giudi collaborates with fashion designers from across the world, but for this video she connected to the local brand Overal Office, which is a sustainable brand currenlty exporting to Asia. Giudi recycled her husband’s wedding suit into the post apocalyptic costume inspired by army style. On the music video she collaborated with her long time creative director, visual artist JaCob Ra and cinematographer Jan Moravec.
“Behind the hills, behind the mines, where do my golden antlers graze? The Jerzinky wild women took little Smiley deep into the forest! But his friend, the deer, heard his cries and came and rescued him.”

Krewella x Beauz – Never Been Hurt (Video)
“Discover the value of “Never Been Hurt”. This explosive House vibe can instantly stimulate your ears with its catchy electronic soundscapes. Also noticeable are its effect-driven, bright lyrics which give character to the whole production. Valuable result from creative artistic minds.”
-Nagamag.com
https://ingrooves.lnk.to/NeverBeenHurt
The ladies of Krewella make a strong return to the scene with their new original release – “Never Been Hurt,” in collaboration with the Asian-American duo BEAUZ. The sisters take an exploratory approach to their traditionally hard-hitting sound with a pop and deep house style on the track, which begins with a groovy and yet grimy bassline reminiscent of UK garage sounds. The subtler melodies let the song’s vocals shine through as Krewella brings their A-game with sultry lyrics and a distorted vocal chorus. Krewella’s previous independent single was “Rewind” with Yellow Claw in July of 2020, though they also collaborated with Illenium and SLANDER on “Lay It Down” as a part of Illenium’s album. The release of “Never Been Hurt” lets us also assume that more new music will be released in the coming months. Check out what both artists have to say about this emotive, late-night friendly track:
“The inspiration of ‘Never Been Hurt’ comes from the feeling of the body and heart slowly opening its doors again after being calloused by the pain of love. Surrendering to intimacy is a leap of faith, and in a way, memories of past loss or trauma become erased when we are ready to experience love again in its pure innocence. We wrote the song a few years ago and have been waiting for the right vibe to bring the song to the finish line. As sisters, we found it sweet to be collaborating with brothers Bernie and Johan Yang, and despite being confined to the internet during the pandemic, we managed to have a seamless flow of sending versions of the song back and forth.” – Krewella
“Krewella has been one of our favorite artists that were responsible for inspiring us to make music. It’s so cool to work with the sisters since we are a brother duo. When we received ‘Never Been Hurt’ from the girls, its dark and contemporary style, along with its story, immediately resonated with us. After several back and forths, we were able to come up with an edgy vocal chop lead complemented by an infectious bassline, as well as contributing our own vocals into this dream collaboration. We absolutely can’t wait to perform this gem along with the girls on stage when we return to the US.” – Beauz
Sisters Jahan and Yasmine exploded onto the scene in 2012 with their debut self-released EP “Play Hard,” which has now been streamed almost 150M times on Spotify alone; additionally, their single “Alive” from the EP has been certified Platinum. Since then, the duo has made a name for themselves and their hard-hitting yet melodic and vocal-driven sound through releases like “Live for the Night,” “Enjoy the Ride,” and more. In 2016, Krewella was awarded a coveted place on Forbes’s “30 Under 30” list. They have performed at major global music festivals, including Coachella, Lollapalooza, EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, iHeartRadio Music Festival, and many others, in addition to their own headlining tours. As one of the main elements of the Krewella canon, the group’s onstage performances serve as the live extension of their music and art. Incorporating a multitude of audiovisual elements together with Jahan and Yasmine’s live vocals and powerful onstage energy.
American duo BEAUZ composed of Bernie and Johan is a group of versatile, classy rockstars who decide their own destiny. Proving themselves to be virtuosos of music production, they quickly caught attention from top power players in the industry, landing them multiple official remixes. Most notably, their “Happy Now” remix has become a staple in Zedd’s DJ sets. In 2019, BEAUZ released the genre-bending Count The Hours with Armada, which became viral on Douyin and kicked off the duo’s first international tour spanning across North America and Asia. BEAUZ then collaborated with Spinnin’ Records to release Feel The Light as the first record on the new imprint Spinnin’ Asia, positioning the duo as the godfathers of Psypop. In 2020, BEAUZ hosted the avant-garde Blockeley festival featuring a star-studded lineup on Minecraft in collaboration with UC Berkeley and their management, KEYTEM. They released their first EP “BEAUZWORLD Vol. 1,” kicking off the BEAUZ IMPERIAL TOUR, stunting the world as the only international artists to deliver world class performances during the pandemic. Synonymous with a unique music brand and eluding an impeccable flair in everything they do, BEAUZ will not stop until they sit on the throne.

Where You Are, is our nagamag pick from new JVNA album “Hope In Chaos”
More details:
https://ingrv.es/JVNAHopeInChaos
LA-based artist JVNA releases her stunning debut album “Hope In Chaos,” a deeply personal and emotive body of work with a unique sonic style drawing from pop, rock, and bass elements. The twelve-track LP explores many of her life experiences, covering a range of sometimes dark elements, including the loss of her father, guilt, love, lust, sexism, and determination. The opening track “Chaos” sets an ominous tone for the first half of the album, which represents the first, most painful stages of grief. “Where You Are” sees JVNA expressing a deep longing for lost love with cinematic sonic elements, while “Ghost” showcases a future bass style. “Sins” captures the sultry and turbulent energy of lust and questionable decisions. The first half of the album closes with the interlude “Hope,” which introduces JVNA’s movement into the healing process of grief. She tries to remember the good times of a painful relationship with “At Least It Was Fun,” while the ensuing tracks all lead up to the cathartic healing process with the epilogue “Fly.” “Hope In Chaos” is a truly beautiful and meaningful musical journey that fans of multiple genres will appreciate, whether they’re going through a tough time or just looking for a track to rock out to. Be on the lookout for album-themed “Hope In Chaos Tour”, starting on February 19. Tickets are available here.

California-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist JVNA produces electronic music that plays at the dichotomy of light and dark, bass and melody, organic and synthetic. Raised by Taiwanese immigrants, JVNA studied classical piano from the age of 6 and started writing songs when she was 11. Her studies continued at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she learned to score films and video games. Initially, JVNA made fun edits and remixes of her favorite anime and video game soundtracks; her take on MapleStory’s “Login Theme” caught fire on the internet, earning half a million views in 24 hours. Her 2018 song “I’m With You,” inspired by her father’s death two years earlier, dared to dive deep into an emotional world. JVNA self-directed the song’s music video. The Follow-up single “Catch Me,” released in 2019, took JVNA on a sold-out tour across the United States. Due to the pandemic, it was canceled, and JVNA returned to the studio to focus on the album’s production. She pushed herself to incorporate more live keys, piano, and organic textures. “Hope In Chaos” is a diverse collection of styles featuring JVNA’s voice like it’s never been heard before, opening up about so much more than the standard dance floor love songs.
