"I wrote this about my girlfriend at the time, when we first met. I liked her a lot really early on, but I knew it wasn't a situation to jump into a relationship. There was a lot of jealousy and shady actions from the both of us. This song displays the toxicity but love we shared. I wanted the instrumental to be up beat and have a dancehall style to it. When the producer sent my the finished product I knew it was going to be a hit."

ena b. (aka Verena Bachinger) is an Austrian singer-songwriter based in Lisbon, Portugal. She writes about the places, people and experiences that have shaped her life and the things in the world that inspire us to speak out.

Her journey as a songwriter began in 2014, when she began studying composition and writing songs in Jerusalem, Israel. Over the next 2 years, she experimented writing in various genres and styles before moving to Lisbon in 2016.

Once in Lisbon, she began to write in earnest, tapping into a deep well of inspiration from her past and present, honing her craft and developing her own style. Influenced by the sounds of Americana, indie and classic folk, garage and artists like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Cat Power and Aimee Mann, she wrote dozens of songs and collaborated with various musicians from Israel, Portugal, USA and Austria.

Ay Wing's latest release 'Ego' is a beat driven feel-good anthem that speaks to the part of oneself that is capable of rebirth, of rising above challenges, and letting go. The musicality flaunts a Hip Hop House inspired beat and dreamy hook, along with Ay Wing's inspiring lyrics - taking listeners on a journey through their own psyche.

The song also calls listeners to zoom out to the wider lense of the universe, to see themselves as a part of the bigger picture and realise that we are just one tiny fragment in the scheme of things. “Shot A Friend” came out completely out of nowhere on a rainy day in the studio. Because it was so sudden, I don’t think any of us thought of a storyline, we simply let the inspiration guide us through all sorts of deep feelings such as betrayal, guilt, love, pain, forgiveness, obsession and everything in between. As per usual, I got some inspiration from all my personal experiences, you guys know I do that a lot in my songs.

It’s about how you can fall in love so deeply and unexpectedly that you’re not able to realize that the one you fell in love with is your best friend’s lover.

I’m glad to be able to express my feelings in a different way and this is what “Shot A Friend” gave me: the opportunity to have a different mood on my music, to unleash Maria out of Holy Molly and to let her talk on this song. So here it is, enjoy!

She had her first video at the age 13, becoming a pop sensation in her country.
