Shapeshifting, genre-bending and aesthetically captivating artist Monelise releases ‘Silver Lake’, the latest product of her evocative mission to bring a new, refreshing and mystical quality to the world of experimental dream pop. ‘Silver Lake’ follows the release of ‘Sliding Worlds’ in February. Monelise’s music has gained over 250,000 streams in less than 9 months, and she is becoming known for entrancing audiences with her mysterious audio-visual live shows - both in person and online.

Speaking on the track, Monelise quotes: “Silver Lake is a mythical story as old as time itself; yet woven into a shimmering, kaleidoscopic soundscape that occupies a world of its own. When writing I was inspired by the song ‘Mysteries of Love’ from David Lynch’s Blue Velvet. I wanted to create something transcendent, celestial and unlike anything else out there. A soundscape that blends all of life’s most intense and moving experiences - life, death, love, loss - into one, ultimately beautiful and complete whole. Lyrically, Silver Lake tells the story of a woman who, upon losing her lover, discovers his spirit floating above the mystical silver lake. Their worlds momentarily collide in this liminal space and they manage to touch one last time before she is able to ‘release him’. Yet, we are left with a cliffhanger - during the song’s last moments, does she follow him into the afterlife or accept the fact she can now ‘find’ him only at Silver Lake?

Monelise forges a unique blend of nostalgia and futurism in her work. It is as though she stands at the gateway of past and future as her music weaves an uncanny yet beautiful dance between the two. Spring is here and we are happy to present to you a new EP courtesy from Yöurr, producer and DJ based in Hungary, with two original tracks: "New Transitions" and "Broken Barriers". And that's not all, in this pack we also included a remix of French duo Pandhora for "New Transitions" that is intended to fill our spirits with energy.

The first track "New Transitions" is a sound progression that brings us closer. it's an intimate, deep and spatial state of fulfilment. A sound experience full of emotions, dreamlike sensations and euphoria.

"Broken Barriers", the second track, has the magical characteristic of taking us to a universe of colours far from the isolation caused by the pandemic. We are proud to present the second song from the new album by Eyal Zusman and Amir Lev - The Journey to the warmer lands. This is a collaboration between two Israeli artists, who created an album with live warm sounds, an oriental Galilee touch and Mediterranean rhythms.

Amir Lev has been creating music for over 30 years, releasing extraordinary solo albums and canonic songs, which he performs in unforgettable performances. Lev is a music producer, an excellent guitarist, and an exciting songwriter.

Eyal Zusman is an actor, director, and screenwriter. He has won several awards in the arts and culture sphere and this is his first music album.

All the songs in the album 'The Journey to the warmer lands’ were composed jointly by Lev and Zusman, inspired by the tracks of the French musician DJ WORAKLS.

The album was recorded live with acoustic instruments and live vocals.

A male colleague watched Only Bricks lead vocalist and songwriter Anne DiGiovanni get on an elevator wearing high heels and said “Oh, are you wearing your big girl shoes today?” She felt humiliated, belittled, and unsure - but just laughed it off.

It took several years and much inner reflection before the song “Big Girl Shoes” was born out of that moment in a writing session with the band’s guitarist and songwriter Joseph Lewczak and co-writer Samantha Margret. According to Anne, “‘Big girl shoes’ are a metaphor for the double bind of needing to look feminine but not too sexy, an added weight women carry at work on top of their normal job responsibilities.

Produced by long time collaborator Cameron Stymeist, the pair wanted the recording to reflect women’s power without sounding angry - a song with a pop surface and a punk soul. “We hope that came through in the production,” said Joseph. “We added guitar feedback and cable noise in the breakdown to give it a bit of a live, in-your-face feel, and the dirty 808s throughout added a disturbing quality.”

The song celebrates the dying breaths of the patriarchy with its “Glass falling from the ceiling cuts sharp on its way down” lyric, as slow progress continues to be made for women’s equality.
