OLI – Don’t Give Up (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“How often have you heard and listened to your inner voice telling you not to give up? This track reminds all of us not to give up and keep going, even if it’s hard and beyond the threshold of a blizzard. Wonderful Dream Pop and insightful vocals that captivate as soon as you dive into them.”

“Как часто вы слышали и слушали свой внутренний голос, который говорил вам не сдаваться? Этот трек напоминает всем нам не опускать руки и продолжать идти, даже если тяжело и за порогом вьюга. Прекрасный Dream Pop и проницательный вокал, которые очаровывают сразу, как только погружаешься в них.”

-Nagamag.com

Since launching last year, OLI’s lush, ethereal soundscapes, expansive and inspired visual perspectives, and non-conformist alt-pop songwriting have earned her critical acclaim.

With a sultry combination of deep bass and swirling synth textures, sitting beneath OLI’s effortlessly cool vocals, the single came as a result of the common experiences shared in 2020 and the sheer resilience OLI observed amongst people. Speaking of the song’s inspirations, OLI said: “I think last year a lot of the feeling was just to keep going and keep your head above water. I felt that around me a lot, friends losing jobs, experiencing periods of bad mental health and somehow pushing on. It made me realise how resilient people are and how little they give themselves credit for it.”

She continues: “I wanted the song to show that, to feel like a voice inside your head letting you know everything will be alright. That we are in this together. If anything, I hope the listener feels a little encouraged after hearing the song.”

https://www.facebook.com/olimasek/

The song will arrive with an equally luscious music video. Shot in Finland, OLI wanted to turn the fact that so many people she works with are so far away into a positive, and handed over the reins to Finland based videographer Heini Susanne to create the visually stunning video. OLI said: “I knew we didn’t need to be near to create something great together. The music video was actually filmed in Finland without me there. I wanted Heini to feel like she could do/try whatever she thought would look unique, instead of me instructing her on what I wanted.” The video sees a weary traveller lost in the snow-covered woods, battling his inner demons as he tries to find refuge.

The artwork and press photos for the single were made in collaboration with Gabrielle Salonga, a digital media artist. The pair had OLI pose in front of a green screen, with the 3D elements added in post-production.

OLI moved to London from New Jersey at the age of 2. Growing up in a musical family, she was always encouraged to be creative – writing her first song when she was only 7. Her influences range from the likes of Sade and Dion Warwick to bands such as Stereophonics, Supergrass and Pearl Jam and Pink Floyd. OLI co-writes and produces with legendary producer Benny D (Stormzy, Boy George, Kylie, Plan B, Robbie Williams, Paloma Faith, Depeche Mode).

On the back of his massive global music collaboration with fellow UK-based afrofusion artist Nizzy and Nigerian rising star Buju, which is being championed by the likes of Flaunt Magazine, 9Bills, Niji Magazine, iMULLAR and PAM Magazine, UK-based afropop and afrofusion artist SEAN DAMPTE returns with his highly anticipated third EP BABA WON on October 15. This new project is the third instalment in his ‘Awoodah’ EP series, which started back in 2018 with his debut EP The Awoodah Begins and continued last year with the Man Like Sean Dampte EP.

Produced by JayOcean, with additional production from Jomane and TushBeats, the 5-track Baba Won EP opens with the already popular lead single ‘Pepe (Remix)’ before going into the infectious afrobeats offering ‘Allow Me’ featuring SeyiVibez, and the slow-burning love song ‘Oji Mo’. The EP winds down with ‘Choke Oh’, which sees Sean Dampte opining about relationships that are only driven by money, and the introspective ‘Agbada’, over which the Nigerian-born artist shares his story of perseverance and how far he has come to reach where he is now.

Speaking about the inspiration behind his Baba Won EP, Sean Dampte says, “with this ‘Baba Won – Awoodah’ EP, I felt it was time to fully begin to express the enigma behind the artist that is Sean Dampte and what is behind the music itself. ‘Baba Won’ aims to showcase the different elements to my music without losing its African heritage and background. The EP was inspired mostly by the need to show how far the brand ‘Awoodah’ and I have come since 2018, and to serve as a prelude to my debut album, which is going to be released in 2022”.

Championed by the likes of MTV, BET, TRACE and Apple Music, and more recently by Flaunt Magazine, iMULLAR and PAM Magazine, while also having shared the stage with afrobeats royalty such as D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido and Wande Coal, Sean Dampte has been foundational and a staple fixture in the rise of afrobeats music in the UK, and is revered for his stellar fusion sound of afrobeats, dancehall and pop music, which has amassed over four million plays along the way. His highly anticipated new EP Baba Won – Awoodah is out now on October 15.

Nina Schofield – Who Is She? (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“Virtuoso, interesting and very atmospheric. In places, there is a feeling of full improvisation, which makes everyone happy. Variety of instrumental composition, etiquette and enchanting vocals from -Nina Schofield-. Great energetic music, to fix your mood!”

“Виртуозно, интересно и очень атмосферно. Местами, возникает ощущение полной импровизации, что весьма радует слух. Разнообразие инструментальной составляющей, поэтичности и очаровательный вокал -Nina Schofield-. Очень энергичная музыка, посыл которой вдохновлять и поднимать настроение!”

-Nagamag.com

Following the release of her last single ‘Not Perfect Now’ in January this year, Nina Schofield returns with a brand new punchy, synth-pop number ‘Who Is She’ due this Autumn.

Detailing the fallout of a partner cheating in a relationship, ‘Who Is She’ fuses Nina’s hazy layered vocal effects, over a thumping bass line and emotive lyrics that builds momentum into a soaring chorus of heartache and confusion.

Nina says: “’Who Is She’ was a really unique writing experience for me because I started out with a sample synth and didn’t have a clear idea of where the song would go. This one sample triggered a thousand ideas in my head and I quickly created the initial production for the track which left room for the melody to evolve. I began thinking about how I would react to losing trust in a relationship and all the ways I’d process that and pretty soon the lyrics and the melody began to form side by side. This isn’t a situation I’ve been through personally but I’ve seen my friends go through similar heartache and I couldn’t help but want to write about it and try and understand and process the emotion. Matthew Fisher then came on board and helped bring the finished song to life – it was really fun approaching songwriting and production in a completely different way as it’s super important to me to keep pushing myself outside of my comfort zone when it comes to writing songs.”

For those of you still unsure of Nina Schofield’s credentials, here’s a reminder…with an 100,000 strong audience on her Youtube channel, a no.4 iTunes singer/songwriter chart hit, nominations for Best Female Artist on both sides of the Atlantic (Best of British Music Awards and the Hollywood Music in Media Awards), live appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival, sold out tours across the UK supporting the likes of Nell Bryden and BBC show winning band Sons of Pitches, co writing and featuring on the electronic hit ‘Lift You Up’ with Aurosonic & Frainbreeze, being head hunted by Dutch Pop/R&B band Romeo to join them on their sell out come-back show and a number 1 dance record in Slovakia with Vintage and Morelli.

Added to which, she co-wrote and co-worked with Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winners and nominees with a striking list of names such as Morrisey’s Richard Niles, Gabrielle Aplin’s Tom Wilding and Tina Turner’s Steve DuBerry. Her single ‘Imaginary Love’ was chosen as Record Of The Day and supported by BBC radio stations across the UK. Top that off with a highly acclaimed single ‘My Life’ written in Stockholm with FMLY STHLM (Robyn/One Direction) and the release of her follow up singles ‘Thriving’ and ‘Ghost’ and it’s clear to see you have a recipe for pop success.

2019 saw the release of Nina’s song ‘The Gift’ which resulted in her featured live performance in the BBC Richard Gere drama ‘MotherFatherSon’ which has since been broadcast globally. Nina’s focus now remains on her writing, producing and Youtube career as well as continuing her work with chart toppers all over the world.

Merunisa has released her eagerly anticipated single 'No Longer' via Intarsia Records on the 8th October, following up on her recent successes with latest single Jet (ft. Diamanda). Influenced by R&B artists, The Weeknd and Drake, and comparable to the vocal stylings of Jhene Aiko and Kehlani, the new record sees Merunisa taking on an ominous vibe, pushing her artistry to new depths.

New single from Merunisa featuring ZUKA. ‘No Longer’ marks her label debut ahead of an EP later this year. Already accumulating thousands of followers on Instagram, and achieving radio support from Reprezent, Tribe Urban Radio and The Noise Terrace, 'No Longer' explores new, cinematic avenues inspired by the 2019 film: ‘Joker’ - the track’s original name. She said:

“I think the best part of this track is how it's constantly moving forward melodically. It's constantly changing and becoming bigger and engaging just like how Joker did in the film. The tension, suspense and harmonies is what really pulled the track together. I haven't heard something like this come from someone in the UK yet.”

Rheo Uno – Senorita (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Fresh and hot like fire vibe in Electro Pop style. The UK artist has raised the temperature even higher with her sensual singing voice and lyrics with surely attractive mood. “Senorita” is a real bomb.”

-Nagamag.com

UK born singer songwriter Rheo, is poised to announce a brand new song ‘Señorita’ due for release this October.

Following on from the success of her recent singles, ‘Show Me’ and ‘Wife Me’ (feat rapper Chxmpion) which were very well supported by BBC Music Introducing East Midlands and BBC Radio Leicester; described as “phenomenal, pop at its very, very finest”.

‘Señorita’ marks a shift in tempo for the rising pop star, showcasing elements of Rheo’s emotive, soulful side; fusing hazy pop leaning tendencies over intimate, unfiltered lyricism. The end product marks her as an artist to watch out for.

She says: “I wanted to channel as much sexual tension as I could into a song; you know in the films when they’re in a club, dancing, sweaty and ridiculously sensual? I wanted Senorita to be the soundtrack for something like that.”

She goes on: “To me, as soon as you hear a Latino beat, it puts you in that sultry, sensuous mood; so thats how we ended up with that vibe, and hey, Tequila is my fave shot so it was a no brainier to drop in the mix”.

Rheo is no stranger to the music scene having been a featured vocalist on many dance/pop anthems, she has now stepped up to release her own evocative and commercially focused music. Her song writing and top line skills blend sublimely with her ability to create catchy melodies, which all combine to deliver a story, influenced by relatable issues such as female empowerment, relationships, gender and equality

Rheo tell us: “I started relatively late to song writing at about 17, I just didn’t think I could do it, it was something other people could do, not me. So what I put out was heavily influenced by the people I was working with, and consequently I didn’t relate to it and therefore why should anyone else? But now, working with Charles (Drew) from Monarchy Music, we have just clicked creatively, and the material is coming thick and fast. I’m loving what I’m producing, it feels connected to me, my thoughts, friendships, relationships and I’m proud of how it sounds. I’m listening to myself on repeat, which is an absolute first for me.”

Working together with her new production team has helped Rheo develop her distinctive sound, which has been influenced by the likes of Dua Lipa, Becky Hill, Raye and Jessie Ware to name a few.

‘Señorita’ is part of a clutch of singles scheduled for release over the coming months, offering listeners a taste of what Rheo Uno has to offer.

VVEST – HONEY DEW (Feat. Dr. Chaii) (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“It is easy to associate this music with a glass of dry, red wine. Light, rhythmic intoxication, where every sound, every tone of voice is brought to perfection. The track is like an expensive, elite drink that you will drink in small sips and enjoy the aftertaste!”

“Эту музыку легко ассоциировать с бокалом сухого, красного вина. Лёгкое, ритмическое опьянение, где каждый звук, каждый тон голоса доведён до совершенства. Трек как дорогой, элитный напиток, который вы будете пить маленькими глотками и наслаждаться послевкусием!”

-Nagamag.com

Honey Dew is an Afrobeat song by Haitian artist VVEST featuring a Zimbabwe native Dr. Chaii. This song was made in the basement of VVEST ‘s mothers house during quarantine with only a laptop and a microphone with a pop filter he rigged to drop from the ceiling. She inspired VVEST to get in touch with his roots and make a song she could dance to.
