Bristol-based duo Tom and Ian Griffiths, a.k.a Icarus, are back on Anjunadeep with new single ‘Only’.

The pair made their long-awaited return to the label last April with ‘Moment In Time’, a single that perfectly encapsulated their distinctive brand of emotive and melodic house. ‘Only’ sees Tom and Ian produce a wistful, piano-infused offering, with a two-step groove firmly rooted in UK dance music.

Having garnered over 120 million Spotify streams to date, written and produced hits like ‘October’ and ‘Home’, featuring AURORA, and remixed names like Jessie Ware, Pendulum, Martin Solveig, Wilkinson and RÜFÜS DU SOL, Icarus are fast becoming one of the UK’s most sought-after dance acts.

Icarus have recently performed a closing set at Anjunadeep’s third label takeover of iconic venue Printworks London, and the first weeks of the year see the duo perform headline shows in London, Manchester and Bristol.

“We’ve really been enjoying writing at slightly quicker tempos lately. 130bpm+ just feels so energetic to us, and we’ve been feeling inspired by the resurgence of the garage sound, especially with a lo-fi texture to it.
With ‘Only’ we wanted to create something that was melodic and enjoyable in headphones but still upbeat and grooving enough for a club environment. We recently dropped this tune at Printworks and the reaction was great, so we hope we’ve achieved our aim!” – Icarus

“Cool and engaging, they make hip look so easy. Something about a proper horn section that just screams real Jazz. His words flow perfectly and are truly though out or is its freestyle magic? Either way we dig, and the sublime chorus brings it all together. ”

Gifts From Crows – The Empty Mirror (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“”The empty Mirror” is an artistic Cinematic piece with advanced choreography. Mainly based on string instruments, slow progression and mysterious atmosphere that invites every listener to explore the unknown past of this fascinating world. Are you ready for this trip?”

-Nagamag.com

This is the key piece for the forthcoming album ‘Stories in Slow Light. It was inspired by a photograph taken by Helena Whitten at Poltimore House in Devon which depicts a solitary figure in front of an oval frame where a mirror used to be.

The track evokes the memory of our ancestors and imagines all the living souls who have passed in front of the now long gone mirror. The protagonist appears to be channelling these spirits out of the ancient walls of the house, at times contorted by the energy flowing through her and then flowing with serenity.

The piece was recorded at Swallow Studios in Smallwood and features members of the string section of the Northern Film Orchestra. The strings shift from tight pizzicato motifs to sweeping legato passages building to a crescendo of ancient harmonies fought out between the cello, viola and violin performers. In the closing bars, a kind of peace is finally restored.

The video for was shot on location at Poltimore House but this time dancer and choreographer Kristine Berget reprises Helena’s role from the photograph and we follow her as she moves around the rooms and hallways of the crumbling mansion.

Erika Tham – Shhh (Video)

“Erika Tham raises the temperature with her seductive and super hot vibe, which can leave you speechless. Attractive voice, decorated with some light percussion elements and highly artistic clip that exceeds our expectations.”

LA-based pop/R&B singer-songwriter and actress Erika Tham makes a fiery entrance this year with new single “Shhh” and premieres the coinciding Patrick Wilcox-directed video today. Co-written with GRAMMY-nominated producers Deion Gill (Kelly Rowland, Miguel, Playboi Carti, Usher) and Major Myjah (Chris Brown, J.Cole, Ty Dolla $ign), the tongue-in-cheek track demonstrates Erika’s lyrical wit and seductive flow as she puts every mansplaining fuckboy firmly in their place. Paying homage to the unapologetic female pop stars of the ‘90s, “Shhh” is a loose spin off Shania Twain’s 1997 megahit “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and laced with alluring Asian string instrumentation against a modern R&B production.

“‘Shhh’ came together off the back of a joke made during a writing session. I remember talking to Deion Gill and Major Myjah, and I said ‘you know when someone’s cute, until they open their mouth and ruin it?’” Erika Tham explains, “It’s a fun, feminine, and coquettish song that was equally as fun to make. When it came to writing the verses, I wanted to pay homage to the sassy, unapologetic pop stars of the ‘90s. The line ‘your daddy’s black card don’t impress me much’ was inspired by Shania Twain’s iconic ‘Don’t Impress Me Much’ but with a twist and subject matter that felt authentic and relatable to my real life and so many other women. The rest of the song is honestly just the result of three friends talking shit and gassing each other up.” On the video, she adds, “Patrick and I juxtaposed the fantasy and glamour of cabaret with somewhat of a horror backdrop. We felt the contrast fit the mood and mysterious energy of the song.”

Zara Tosta – Est-ce que tu m’aimes encore? (Videol)

To love the other is to conceive of your happiness during every moment of your life, with or without yourself.

Do you still love me? is a hymn to the love challenge after a separation. It highlights the questions, doubts, trust and distrust that surrounds a breakup.

It immerses us in a form of paradox between the right choice, the ego, the guilt but also the vulnerability in which a confused being finds himself.

Listen Do you still love me? It is accepting to look yourself in the face. It is to recognize that we must succeed in accepting and loving ourselves as we are in order to detach ourselves from the idea that we have of the love that we give to others.

Dennis J Leise – I Only Do It Cause I Have To (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Melancholic, but with a sense of humour song that reveals how our life sometimes turns into a routine of monotonous and repetitive actions. Light music and nice voice from -Dennis j Leise- who will not leave you indifferent.”

“Меланхоличная, немного грустная, но с изрядной долей юмора песня, которая повествует о том, как порой наша жизнь превращается в рутину однообразных и повторяющихся действий. Лёгкая музыка и приятный голос -Dennis J Leise-, которые не оставят вас равнодушными.”

-Nagamag.com

Dennis J. Leise doesn’t mince words. When you’re listening to his tightly-written throwback country-folk songs, you’ll know exactly where he stands — he makes sure of that. His language is straightforward, his couplets are clever and memorable, and his observational eye is unsparing. That’s especially true when he turns his wit on himself. “I Only Do It ‘Cause I Have To,” his latest single, is an exercise in pithy poetry; it’s also an honest confession of exhaustion and a protest against the dullness of routine. It’s that sort of incisive writing that has made the Northwest Indiana farmer-musician a favorite of the Chicago Reader and other Midwestern arbiters of artistic and literary excellence.

But what, you may wonder, is it that the weary Leise is doing because he has to, not because he wants to? While he couldn’t be any franker about his emotional state, he’s not telling us its precipitating cause. The title of his album, however, provides a clue. The World That You Grew Up In Is No More is a collection of hard-time ballads and country stompers, Cash-style barnyard rave-ups and wry, plainspoken Guthrie-like protests. The sound is classic, but the sentiment is urgent and forward-looking. Dennis J. Leise is no nostalgiac. He’s got a voice that could be coming from dusty old 78s, but he uses it to deliver broadsides against smug moralists, in-the-way politicians, unapologetic consumerists, and even a drunken Santa Claus. He’s got a farmer’s impatience with authority figures, in other words, and he’s no fan of mindless conservatism or tradition for its own sake.

So when he tells us that he’s only doing something because he has to, it has a particular force. It comes from an artist who has mastered the old ways of doing things but deemed them insufficient and who isn’t afraid to face a changing world. In the clip for the song, we’re shown Leise at his grind, on his very real farm, pitching hay to the animals and attending to grueling chores. Don’t worry — he’s not disenchanted with his rural existence. He’s just as committed to sustainable agriculture as he’s always been. Instead, it’s a metaphor for the sort of automatic labor that keeps a thinker stuck in his ways and that Leise, a broadminded person, is determined to transcend.
