La misión is one of the tracks of the soundtrack for the movie Behind the Blood.

The documentary Behind the Blood by Loretta van der Horst – which premiered at IDFA last year – won the HUMAN Rights Human Wrongs Award in Oslo, Norway a couple of months ago. Behind the Blood is the shocking true story of a man fighting against rampant gang violence in Honduras, and a portrait of three unlikely friends: a pastor, a killer, and a crime journalist. The intense soundtrack for this movie was made by VOLKOREN's Minco Eggersman.

Besides being the VOLKOREN A&R manager, over the past 12 years Minco has created many soundtracks to international films and documentaires. Many have played all over the world and some even won prices like an Emmy award (DE NIEUWE WERELD) or (3) Gouden Kalveren (IN BLUE), both by director Jaap van Heusden. Among others, In 2018 Minco created the soundtrack to the Bosnian film Regained Memory by director Stijn Bouma as well as the Belarus’ film Hidden Word by Daniel T. Halsall. Most of 2019 found Minco working on the Indian drama film Aquarium by Aditya Vikram Sengupta, the American A Mutual Understanding by Abigail Prada and I am Durin by Valeriu Andriuta from Romania. Unwed Sailor – Haze
(Spotify)

Following the release of the driving singles "Camino Reel" and Look Alive", today Unwed Sailor share a different kind of look from the new album via the new single "Haze". The 9-minute long album closer is an introspective ambient journey featuring layered guitars, percussion, subtle electronics, and heady synths, calling to mind the band's work on 2003' The Marionette and the Music Box LP.

The group enters its third decade of creating lush, evocative instrumental music, with the honesty of Johnathon Ford -- a onetime member of Pedro the Lion and Roadside Monument — anchoring the way. The upcoming album's seven songs are about emerging from hardship, not unscathed, but rather, with newfound conviction in who you are.

Altamullan Road – Underwater
(Video)

Gearing up for the release of their mesmerizing debut album due in
the fall of 2020, Altamullan Road, fronted by the sublime voices of
Johanna Kurkela and Johanna Iivanainen already gave us a peek
into their world of wonders with their 1st single “When It’s Time”.

There may be no return after the 2nd, saturnine “Underwater”.
With “Underwater” the supernatural sisters paint a gloomy picture
of a deathwish bittersweetly mixing with hope. A musical canvas
resounding with echoes, the song is sparsely colored with firm,
broad strokes and eerie harmonies. The song weaves an intricate
network of gossamer melodies and submerges the listener in
gothic, melancholic bliss. As light and airy as the singing appears at
the outset, the lyrical message lies clandestine, anticipating just
below the monochrome surface for you to dive in.

“Underwater” is a pensive tide, lying in wait to wash over you.
Altamullan Road is the silent wail of angels becoming the darkness,
the grief of waning memories and the faint flickering of candles in
the dark.

at_bubble"String Theory member PC Nackt re-uses classical piano compositions, processed and played live through MIDI Pianos. "Exobase_Scarlatti” continues to push classical music into unexplored territory." A couple years back, !K7 label founder Horst Weidenmüller launched the !7K sub-label to further explore new classical and undefined music. And when he did that, he thought of Plunderphonia -- a way to mirror the the respected DJ Kicks series on !K7 but through the !7K lens.

Continuing a theme explored in Henrik Schwarz’s 2018 Plunderphonia concert, which re-appropriated 700 string sequences, frequent Apparat collaborator and The String Theory member PC Nackt’s upcoming album re-uses classical piano compositions that have been selected by music supervisor Hania Rani. The piano scores have then been played into MIDI by pianist Antonis Anissegos. And the MIDI Files have been “plunderized” (processed and played live) by PC Nackt through two Yamaha Disklaviers (MIDI operated classical pianos), creating compositions that take classical music into unexplored territory.

The inaugural Plunderphonia album release from PC Nackt is set for a June 26th release date on 7K!. Following "Space_Schubert", today the new track "Exobase_Scarlatti" is released to the world, displaying another creative layer to the project.

I Am Waiting for You Last Summer – Foundation
(Spotify)

This track is a a part of EP "Turn off the lights for the next 20 minutes"

Turn off the lights for the next 20 minutes is a kind of mechanism with a manual attached to it. Its main function is to start the listener's journey through the gates of their consciousness in search of figural, figurative and abstract artifacts. It can be fragmentary memories, moments of insight, random visual images, short bursts of sensations and feelings caused by long-forgotten events emerging from the depths of memory, places, smells, and social contacts. A short briefing tells three things: to achieve the maximum effect, the album should be listened to alone, with the lights off, with a couple of minutes in silence on top of it (this is important).

Thomas Hewitt Jones
Interview

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Thomas Hewitt Jones:
Cinematic, Contemporary Classical

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Thomas Hewitt Jones:
I was born into a musical family and played, performed and wrote music from a young age. I studied music classically and won the BBC Young Composer Competition in my teens, which led to many commissions and published works. I now work as a composer of commercial and concert music, and have had music played widely on TV, radio and in the cinema. I also write choral music and next month am due to start writing 3 new albums for EMI.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Thomas Hewitt Jones:
I have always loved music's unique ability to express things which words cannot. Within its profoundly emotional universal language one can express aspects of the human experience and I find composing the most fulfilling thing. As a child I always loved attending concerts, and it was regular trips to the cinema which piqued my interest in music serving a narrative. I have been composing since I was about 5 years old!

Nagamag:
What's the coolest commission you've completed?

Thomas Hewitt Jones:
Last year I wrote my first three albums for Juice EMI which was pretty fun. My first job back in London (after assisting eminent film composer David Buckley in LA after university) was writing music for the London 2012 Olympic Mascots films, which played in UK cinemas leading up to the London Olympics. It was a wonderful opportunity, and I was forever grateful at the time to Barnaby Spurrier, Producer at Tomboy Films, for bringing me on to the project at the time.

Nagamag:
How are you enjoying Coronavirus lockdown?

Thomas Hewitt Jones:
Yes it is a strange time at the moment, isn't it. What a worrying time for the world. Although many music commissions have been postponed, my wife is expecting our first child very shortly, so hopefully that will add a new flavour to our lockdown! Musically, there are several new works that were recorded last year and were set for release throughout this spring and summer. I feel that music of all types is much needed at the moment, providing consolation and hope in times such as these.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Thomas Hewitt Jones:
Johann Sebastian Bach "Goldberg Variations"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

Thomas Hewitt Jones:
Carducci String Quartet Shostakovich "String Quartet no. 2 in A major op.68"

Listeners will be confronted with repetitive reconsiderations of their final conclusion about his learned pieces.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Anhedral:
It was the day where my dad gave me an electric guitar on my 17th birthday, just watching him play in front of me and guiding me the basic chords to start off everything, till now.

Nagamag:
Why are there no recorded vocal tracks in your works?

I believe plain sounds, can really bring out different interpretations of a single track.
