Elias Kovanko – Hopeful Silence (lyric video) (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“Bright and rich in melody. It uplifts with its poetic love story. Love the natural build ups with the strings here, the drummer is superb adjusting accordingly. ”

-Nagamag.com

“Hopeful Silence” song is about the fear of, and ultimately the courage to let your guard down despite past failures.

The arrangement starts of soft, with a beautiful slide guitar part in the beginning and a real nice string arrangement that picks up in the second part of the song.

Scott Fisher – The Right Way (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“In a world of much electronic noise its refreshing to hear the natural sounds of instruments powered by creative humans. Lyrics are very poetic and stitched by the beat of the drum to perfection. ”

-Nagamag.com

Los Angeles-based producer and singer-songwriter Scott Fisher has shared “The Right Way,” the first single to be released from his forthcoming album 93 Million Miles, out October 26th via 1 A.M. Music. The groove-filled, slow burning jam features Enrique Gonzalez (Los Lobos) on the drums, and marks the first music Fisher has released since his 2019 album Songs of Jerry Garcia and Others. Speaking on the origins of the song, Fisher writes “...[“The Right Way”] was born out of the isolation of the pandemic and a little too much wine. Ultimately, it has a hopeful message of self-confidence and staying true to one’s first principles.”

Clifford – Love is Real (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“This song is very emotional due to its sensual vocals, beautiful instrumental touch and Indie Folk atmosphere. All these sound soft, fragile and well smoothing. Is there love? Definitely yes! Listen and enjoy!”

“Песня очень эмоциональная благодаря чувственному вокалу, красивой инструментальной составляющей и атмосфере Indie Folk. Всё это звучит мягко и красиво, хорошо сглаживая и дополняя друг друга. Существует ли любовь? Да. Однозначно! Слушайте и наслаждайтесь!”

What motivated you to write this song?

I wanted to write an acoustic song. One that would be intimate and personal. Which of course brought me to the topic of love.

How is this song personal?

The lyrics describe my biggest hopes in a relationship.

Why did you write this song?

I wanted to express my frustrations about the difficulties of dating during a pandemic. But I also wanted to write a song that was a bit ambiguous so that anyone in a relationship would relate to the song as well.

How is it ambiguous?

The line “I need to help myself to find you”…which could be taken literally or metaphorically.

Favorite lines in the song:

“I just want to grow old with you

and tell you every day,

I love you…”

Any particular anecdotes while making this song?

I unexpectedly found myself tearing up during my favorite lines, which are the actual takes I used for the song.

What did you learn from making this song?

It’s really tough to sing softly, on key and with emotion.

What instruments did you use in this song?

Acoustic guitar, Dunun, a Bell, String Orchestra, and Vocals.

With all the love songs out there, what do you think makes “Love is Real” stand out?

Reality vs Dreaming: There are double meanings throughout the song about someone’s want for love vs the truth about love. The want for love is about the self while the truth for love is about reality.

A loving relationship is a two way street in that you can’t have a strong relationship with someone without having a strong relationship with yourself.

In a love relationship both play an important part because reality is now and dreaming is the future.

Roses & Revolutions – Lower Than Low (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“So gentle and delicate. Minimal approach to rhythm and sprinkled with a beat lead by the piano. Superb vocals express ones interpretation of living alone. ”

Indie-pop duo Roses & Revolutions has just released “Lower Than Low,” the new single from their forthcoming ‘Midnight Monsters’ EP, out October 15th via Nettwerk Records. Featuring gorgeous, stacked harmonies that envelop the listener with an expansive and heartbreaking quality, the song beautifully captures the utter stillness found in the day’s earliest hours. “’Lower than Low’ is about thinking you’re at your lowest and realizing there’s actually a level below that,” the band explains. “While the lyrics might be dark we wanted the melody and production to hint at some glimmers of hope.” The video for the track was created by director and animator Nikita Biswas.

The songs on ‘Midnight Monsters’ were written in the middle of the night, in the strange hours before dawn when the world seems to stand still. There’s a quality of magical realism in each of the six tracks, where synth and analog sounds mix to create something otherworldly. But the album could only have been written during this past year, as the world experienced a collective warping of time and place. Inspired by the dystopian quality of quarantine and the emotional demons that hit hardest at night, the band created a sweeping album that blurs fantasy and reality with a sense of timelessness and escape that unfolds like a short film noir.

https://www.facebook.com/rosesandrevolutions

“Lower Than Low” follows the release of the EP’s closing track, “I Remember Dancing,” a subdued, indie-folk song laced with grace and vulnerability, about a kind of reminiscing that’s become all too familiar this year. “I remember playing it,” says vocalist Alyssa Coco. “And as we were figuring out chords, I actually started tearing up.”

Called “spellbinding” by Atwood and “musical alchemists” by American Songwriter, Roses & Revolutions is comprised of longtime collaborators Alyssa Coco (vocals) and Matt Merritt (guitar). Based in Rochester, NY, they first connected through music, playing in various bands together until it became apparent that there was a special creative alchemy between the two. They gained traction with their hit single “The Pines,” leading to 11 million+ streams, a headlining tour, and syncs from Netflix, ABC, NBC, and more. But when lockdown threatened to deflate the momentum they had built, the duo took the opportunity to explore a new way of making music, turning their dark experience into a thing of beauty.

https://twitter.com/rosesandrev

“There’s a little town near us, and at night it was completely deserted, so we would go for a walk,” recalls Matt. “At the time, it was winter, and we would come home to our bedroom studio and just write and record.” Alyssa adds, “As the sun goes down, I get down, and it’s always been like that for me. But that also happens to be the time that Matt and I are most creative. So, we were capturing those midnight monsters and getting them into song.”

Characterized by a sweeping nostalgia that oscillates between impassioned bursts of rock and soft, acoustic storytelling, Roses & Revolutions invites us into a world of alternating realities over the course of six spellbinding songs, an eerie landscape that feels at once like a vast desert landscape and an intimate space among friends. Kicking off with “Feeling Like Myself,” which deals with the emotional fallout of not being able to experience the success of their last EP, the album also includes songs like “Coffee,” an upbeat track with the electropop artist Lostboycrow, that still manages to maintain a sense of intimacy and simplicity. There’s a thread of drama and storytelling throughout the EP, with tracks like “Lower Than Low” capturing the utter stillness found in the day’s earliest hours, and “The End Of The World” speaking to the abandoned nature of places that used to be so full of life.

https://www.instagram.com/rosesandrevolutions/

But after the night comes the morning sun, and while Roses & Revolutions explore darker territory with skill and nuance, they also radiate strength and hope. It’s a delicate dance between the dark and the light, but on ‘Midnight Monsters,’ Roses & Revolutions have mastered it.

Roses & Revolutions have just announced a string of tour dates in March 2022, opening for the acclaimed, gold-selling singer/songwriter Joshua Radin. Stay tuned for additional updates.

“Inspiration in ethnic motives and legends, where guitar strings echo one after another. A real treasure for folk music lovers. Lingering, sometimes melancholic, a little brooding and nostalgic. Promotes reflection, frenzy and complete harmony with the world.”

“Вдохновение в этнических мотивах и легендах, где одна за другой перекликаются гитарные струны. Настоящая кладезь для ценителей фолк музыки. Тягучий, местами меланхоличный, немного задумчивый и патетичный. Способствует размышлению, исступлению и полной гармонии с миром.”

As a teenager, frontman McAll survived an attack by a gang that left him with a catastrophic head injury and every memory of his childhood gone. The next decade was spent in a cabin on Scotland’s western coastline, where he eventually began composing again.

The result is a childhood imagined against a backdrop that, like the sea, is as serene as it is wild; ever-changing, yet resolute.

Championed by DJ Alex of KEXP, Gideon Coe of BBC Radio 6 Music and Vic Galloway and Roddie Hart of BBC Radio Scotland, Constant Follower releases the second single from his album ‘Neither Is, Nor Ever Was’ on the legendary NY imprint Shimmy Disc/Joyful Noise.

The first single premiered on Brooklyn Vegan and Glide Magazine and has garnered praise from the likes of:

DJ Alex, KEXP “Beautifully introspective vocal-led Folk. Loving the sound of Constant Follower.”

Clash Magazine “Hopelessly beautiful. A staggering piece of songwriting, with its simple poignancy carrying with it the wisdom only experience can offer.”

A Pessimist Is Never Disappointed "The Merry Dancers on TV" is gently affecting. A haunting ramble pitched at the place occupied by both Arab Strap and Bon Iver, this elegantly mellow song is something special indeed. It also helps that the video for the composition is just as memorable.”

CHILLFILTR “Like a heartbroken cry echoing through an empty cathedral, we are engulfed in equal parts sadness, wonder, and unspeakable beauty. Stephen McAll and his band Constant Follower are back with another poignant triumph of resonant chamber pop.”

Brooklyn Vegan “a lovely piece of delicate folk”

Folk Radio “Instantly compelling, memorable and moving”

Today, Constant Follower shares a brand new single entitled "Weave Of The World," the second release off their upcoming debut record ‘Neither Is, Nor Ever Was’ (due October 1 via Shimmy-Disc/Joyful Noise Recordings).

Of the track, frontman Stephen McAll recalled, “I wrote it during a period of anxiety or maybe mild paranoia. You can hear that in the words. But it’s taken on a new meaning for me, since what I must have thought might happen, didn’t. There’s still a lot of darkness in there, but the song reminds me that feelings are real but they aren’t facts. Even when you think things are going very wrong, there’s always a way to turn it around.”

The band’s debut album ‘Neither Is, Nor Ever Was’ was borne out of a respect for change, and the inevitable passing of time that frightens, comforts and humbles every one of us. It is a haunting testimonial to the temporary joys and fleeting moments that define the human experience.

Co-produced by Scottish singer-songwriter Stephen McAll and renowned producer and Shimmy-Disc founder Kramer (Low, Galaxie 500, Will Oldham), the recording for Neither Is, Nor Ever Was began in early 2020 at La Chunky studios in Glasgow with engineer Johnny Smillie

This was interrupted by the birth of McAll’s daughter (if you listen closely, her cries are just audible during some of Kessi’s backing vocals on ‘Little Marble’), and shortly afterwards by Covid 19 restrictions. McAll began recording the rest at his own CFFC studio in Stirling. The resulting recordings were then mixed and mastered by Kramer at his Noise Miami Studio, to breath-taking effect.

Each album track is accompanied by its own short film. McAll sought-out the most exciting new talents in Scottish film and animation and invited them to be part of the album project. Each video, the artist’s personal response to the song, with no direction or interference from the band, resulting in incredibly moving and enchanting short ‘films’ in their own right (with multiple film festival considerations including Edinburgh International Film Festival and Manchester Film Festival in process).

"One of the most beautiful records I have ever been privileged to be a part of, filled to the very brim with moment after moment of poetic clarity, and not a moment too late...an interior force to be reckoned with. I've never experienced anything quite like it. It weaves elements of the past around a future I was wholly unaware of before hearing these breath-taking songs, each one a kind of memorial to a memory that may or may not have merely been imagined or hoped into existence." - Kramer (Shimmy-Disc Founder)

Filiah – In a Haunted House (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“At a low tempo, you can feel the melodic guitar, soft drums and the fabulous atmosphere of Indie Folk. Nice intro, magical vocal line, smooth transitions and solid outro. It looks like an ancient lyric poem, which has been endowed with a peculiar twist.”

“В низком темпе чувствуются мелодичная гитара, мягкие барабанные партии и сказочная атмосфера Indie Folk. Приятное интро, магическая вокальная линия, плавные переходы и не менее добротное аутро. Похоже на древнюю лирическую поэму, которую наделили своеобразной изюминкой.”

-Nagamag.com

In a Haunted House is the third single of Filiah’s upcoming concept album For Someone and also the last song of the album, reflecting one more time on everything she processes in the previous songs but ending on a much lighter note.

She talks about letting go of old patterns, people and ghosts once and for all and opening herself up to new possibilities again.

Filiah in her own words:

"For me, this song feels like a trip through my diary entries. Seeing this whole past toxic relationship of mine pass by me again just made me realize that fighting for this one person had me ending up really tired. I'm saying one final „Goodbye“ and making peace with a ghost I’ve held on to for a long time. It's the last song on my upcoming album and ends on a much lighter note than the rest, reminding me that trusting in people again is the hardest yet bravest thing you can do after trauma."

It is the third and last single before the release of her upcoming concept album For someone- a raw and honest exploration of love, grief, nostalgia and all feelings in between. All the songs on her upcoming album are lyrically intertwined, telling the songwriter's honest and very personal story of pain, distorted perception, finding strength and choosing herself again after the ending of a very toxic past relationship with someone.

In a Haunted House, as well as the whole album were recorded and produced by Filiah herself in her living room.

“Waiting” by Young Shadow OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Carefully composed creation full of meanings and ideas. “Young Shadow” reveals his personal talent and style, based on guitar melodies and etherial vocals which pull you like a huge magnet. Enjoy this four-minute masterpiece and don’t miss the clip too!”

-Nagamag.com

Creating the music video for “Waiting” was a wonderful journey. The visual concept for the video was inspired by the different parts of the psyche and connecting through the collective unconscious. Creating art that has meaning is crucial to me. I packed my video with symbolism and was very intentional about every creative decision. Instead of unpacking the many personal meanings embedded into the imagery, I’m much more interested in hearing your own interpretation. The choreography you see is actually a very poetic translation of my lyrics into American Sign Language. Special thanks to Nicole Bajorek for creating that element of the video. To see the full thing, follow the link in my bio! I hope that the messages within my art resonate with you and uplift you. Thanks for your love and support.
