Thematically the EP attempts to portray an inevitable cycle of feelings. A journey from a cold harsh unknown, from where you wish to return, followed by glances of hope and relief as you approach familiar territory, into a brief moment of comfort, which is soon replaced by everyday annoyances and uncertainties before finally regressing once again as all which made you leave or yearn for a change in the first place reemerges in unbearable cacophony and you want all of it to just freeze...until you need it again.

Musically the overall atmosphere of each segment is conjured by distorted, glitchy instrumentation, minimal repetitive melodies, beats and samples with tape-like lofi processing. Synths, saxophones, warped guitars, unintelligible vocal samples, ambient textures, experimental randomisations.

EP Released on february 26th 2021 on Mai Lei Bel as vinyl and digital.

David was born in Bratislava, Slovakia and grew up in Munich, Germany where he studied classical piano.

As a Fulbright Scholar, David relocated to Los Angeles in 2012 to complete the SMPTV program at the University of Southern California. Since graduating he has been composing and orchestrating for feature films, documentaries and television in the United States and Europe.

His stirring melodic sensitivity along with his creative production approach give his scores a unique voice.

Recent credits include music for the feature films “Botero”, “For the Love of George” (starring Rosanna Arquette), the award winning “The Wedding Invitation” and the Netflix TV show Chef’s Table.

The Dutch pianist and producer Daniël Tomàs (van der Duim) has been one with the piano from an early age on, since his grandmothers piano was situated in the living room from the moment he was born. It was this playful discovery that triggered him to further study jazz/pop piano at the ArtEZ Conservatory, focusing on improvisation. Throughout studying Daniël kept a specific passion for intimate, neo-classical piano pieces and in his master studies he decided to further deepen this sound by combining it with improvisation and electronics, with the help of the acclaimed pianist Jeroen van Vliet.

After studying Daniël mainly worked as musician, composer and producer for multiple pop, jazz and theater projects, like his jazz-trio: Doppler Trio or his productions for singer ELIËN. But the corona pandemic in 2020 forced him to stop performing and allowed him to focus on one of his biggest dreams: recording a successful solo piano record.

For four months in a row he started every morning with recorded improvisations, followed by writing down and organizing ideas on his childhood piano.

It was throughout this proces that he rediscovered the beauty of his childhood piano, being combined with felt before the hammers, which gives it an intimate mood. This led to the decision to fully record the piano in the same room as where he spent almost all of his childhood hours studying, resulting in the album: “Pintures”.

“Pintures” (- French for: “painting” but also meaning piano textures) is about the power of imagination.

Although the music is recorded from an introspective perspective, the effects and vocals are creating a whole new world ‘behind’ the music.

Every song is a new painting, it has its own journey through intimate and distant worlds, but always has the same intimate felt piano keeping you ‘home’ in a certain kind of way.

The titles are meant to create an extra dimension behind the music, creating an ambiance for the mind to wonder. Like the song title Ambedo, which means: “A kind of melancholic trance in which you become completely absorbed in vivid sensory details”.

The music can be described as atmospheric, narrative, neoclassical piano music in combination with etheric voices and droning synthesizers.

The album will be released end 2021/beginning 2022.

Jax started the song as a demo on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@jaxandersonmusic/video/6938879468085857542 where it tracked 400,000 views and proved to be an undeniably relatable bop. She decided to invite K.Flay along into the studio, as well as producer Tommy English, to bring the song to life while creating an important dialogue at the same time.

Jax says: “Someone commented recently that I Don’t Care Anymore is a song about nihilistic optimism & I’d say they’re totally right. I’m saying “nothing matters, but isn’t it freeing?” It’s my way of fully accepting who I am & rejecting any standards that I’ve learned to carry. It’s incredible how freeing life is when you choose not to give a fuck, right? All I can do is live as myself, truly & fully & it’s been awesome.”

K.Flay adds: “This collaboration came about totally organically. Jax posted an early version of the song on TikTok, people loved it, and a bunch of folks commented that I should feature on the track. So we made it happen! The lyrics really resonated with me. For anyone who’s felt like an outsider, you eventually reach a point where you actually stop caring what other people think. And you embrace yourself with a newfound sense of confidence and swagger and kindness. To me, that’s what this song is all about.”

The new song ”Mannen”, with release date 26th of March, is a collaboration with Jamkid who is a dancehall/Reggae artist from Rågsved, earlier played frequently at P3. In the song ”Mannen” he sings about a beef between two friends in the suburb. In the music video you can see a tribute to his hometown, where he still live and create, through a dance battle between Jamkid and ”the red guy” at a square in Rågsved. Many guys call each other ”bro” ”fam” ”akhi” and so on, but when the backsides of the streets such as money, hype or drugs shows they turn their backs at each other instead of remember that you belong and have shared experiences and success. The word ”Mannen” means in the rough ”Hey, what are you doing!” in an upset way.
