Categories: Blogwave, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“”Beyond Recall” has that favourite Synthwave taste of vintage ’80s style. Deeply sentimental song full of heartwarming lyrics. The artist works solo and inspired by sad feelings of a broken heart. Worthy music with personal attitude that has nothing to do with typical compositions.”

80 Bubbles is a solo production of European singer/producer SilkZ. After participating in several indie genre groups now a debut single is out in 2020 with synth pop, slightly retro music style. First song Beyond Recall is reflecting feelings of breaking up with its sad, “hard to understand and let go” mood. The producer’s earlier songs are also usually touches sensitive topics like separation, loneliness and gloomy moods. The European composer is playing on several instruments however it’s mostly synthesizer based music with nostalgic taste of the 80’s embedded. The production’s name – “80 Bubbles” is also referring to this very special 80’s music era in which mysterious and heavy-hearted synth music was very common even in main stream hits.

Sofi Gev – Horrors in the Dark (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“"Horrors in the Dark" is a song that talks about our bad life incidents. Traumatic experiences deeply burried in the mind, but never forgotten. Even if we cannot erase such negative memories, we should find the strength to become unaffected from their influences. Sofi Gev sings to bring hope and somehow soothe our broken hearts. Priceless work from a real artist.”

-Nagamag.com

Artist shared with Nagamag few words behind this inspiration:

"I wrote “Horrors in the Dark” after my mother lost her brother to suicide, which was and remains unbearably hard. My uncle was a towering figure and a gentle soul, wise and compassionate. The third verse is an homage to him, who we lost far too early, and to the power of his life and legacy. His passing and the grief of all the people who loved him made me think about how we all have some kind of trauma inside of us that never fully heals. The kind of pain that is very difficult to even talk about. “Horrors” uses metaphors to convey how we dance around our deepest fears that we sometimes twist into something else entirely in our minds because they’re too painful to face head on. But these dark things in our lives are still always a part of us.

I wrote this song with my producer, Nate Pyfer (Kaskade, The Moth and the Flame, Sego), and co-writer, Chris Scharman. The strings were arranged by Stuart Maxfield (Fictionist, s2_Cool, Mr. Mental)" - Sofi Gev

“A beautiful, sad instrumental that features a fingerpicked acoustic guitar. So crisp and melodic, the guitar strings ring out and fill you with a sense of yearning. Speaking of strings the undercurrent of mellow, way back in the mix string instruments, really add to the melancholic ambience. For those that have played an acoustic guitar it’s that tune you had in your head that didn’t quite materialise. ”

Sargeant X Comrade – Beautiful (Video)

Categories: Jazz, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , , |

“Essentially, a combination of art, music & poetry in a YouTube video format, Sargeant X Comrade, ‘Beautiful’ delivers a soulful & melodic lead vocal over a simple guitar scat chordal pattern, soft percussion that in parts is reminiscent of Jimi Hendrix ‘Little Wing’ There are some interesting vocal harmonies and drop-in’s that really enhance the track.”

-Nagamag.com

Another art video from the Lo fi soul group Sargeant X Comrade. Beautiful is an attempt at conveying the feeling of falling in love through a visual narrative. Taking the “falling” part literal the video blurs the line between reality and fantasy. Reminiscent of a painting done in a contemporary fashion using video techniques instead of the traditional oils and canvas, Beautiful by Sargeant X Comrade combines art, music and poetry into one.

Nathan Harrington – Sleeping On Your Side (Spotify)

“Roots Reggae with a liberal helping of rock rhythms and melodious vocals. Nathan Harrington and the band switching between vibes with a slick intoxicating finesse. ‘Sleeping On Your Side’ is a high energy song about a toxic love affair that will have the dance floor filled in no time.”

-Nagamag.com

"We’ve all had those toxic relationships where you make excuses for your other, not realizing the drain and fatigue it puts on your mind, body and spirit until it’s too late. ‘SOYS’ is a song that takes you through one of these relationships, the highs and lows of a break up. But ends with clarity being restored. It’s never easy going through a breakup, especially when there was so much love. But you can’t hang on to a feeling that has faded.”

With a sound that is uniquely his own, Nathan Harrington combines elements of Roots and Reggae to bring a bold and captivating sound to life. Deeply influenced by artists like Black Uruhu, Steel Pulse, Bob Marley, and Toots & the Maytals, his musical inspiration helps to hone his tone while contemporary influences like Rebelution and Slightly Stoopid point him towards the next generation of CaliRoots artists. “The music I make is meant to heal people. Reggae holds a high vibration, and I believe it can pull people away from the darkness,” shares Harrington.

Creating a new wave of sound, when it comes to songwriting, living is Nathan’s biggest intrigue. Whether it’s exploring nature on a hike, surfing the sea, or channeling meditation, it’s what truly inspires home to open and his eyes and see, and his ears to hear. Aside from singing, Nathan plays instruments such as guitar, bass, piano, ukulele, and percussion. He’s shared the bill with artists such as Jacob Collier, 2 Chains, Shawn Mendes, Sabrina Carpenter and Jed’s A Millionaire to name a few. Nathan has also been in numerous modeling campaigns and was cast in Jordan Peele’s movie “US”.

“This instrumental track is from the album ‘Cultivating Compassion’ The soundtrack is by the ‘Bombay Dub Orchestra’ and is a gentle fusion of electronica and a lush Indian orchestra. A deep ambient experience that provides the background in other versions to guided meditation by Miranda Macpherson’ A spiritual journey in healing and meditation.”

-Nagamag.com

Cultivating Compassion is the first release on Six Degrees Records’ new Soundbalm imprint, a new label focusing on the intersection of ambient music, new age & sound healing.

It is also the first in a series of immersive projects combining guided meditations with new, original music from some of the leading lights in the deep ambient music field.

Providing the guided meditation for Cultivating Compassion is Miranda Macpherson, a contemporary spiritual teacher and author. Through her writings and spoken works, she invites others to become more graceful human beings through inquiry, meditation, devotion and psychological integration. Grounded in extensive study of the worlds’ wisdom traditions, Miranda has been guiding others into direct experience of the sacred for thirty years.

Her books include The Way of Grace: the Transforming Power of Ego Relaxation (Sounds True), Boundless Love (Ebury) and Meditations on Boundless Love (Sounds True). Miranda is also a kirtan musician with a mantra album The Heart of Being, and the soon to be released Nectar. Her latest project is The Grace Deck (Insight Editions).

Creating an original, beautiful new musical soundtrack to Miranda’s words is the Bombay Dub Orchestra. Consisting of composer/producers Garry Hughes and Andrew T. Mackay, BDO have built a reputation for combining their unique fusion of electronica with the lush sounds of a full Indian orchestra, featuring performances from some of South Asia’s most renowned instrumental soloists. From main-stage performances at the UK’s Big Chill Festival and Djing across the globe, scoring feature films to remixing such world-renowned artists as Bob Marley, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bebel Gilberto, fans and critics around the world have embraced their music.

About the new label imprint and the idea of combining meditations with new musical works, Six Degrees co-founder Bob Duskis says: “From my days working at Windham Hill Records, to the 25 years that Six Degrees Records has existed, I’ve been particularly fascinated by music’s ability to heal, comfort & elevate us. The concept of “Music as Medicine” is very real to me and has become only more relevant during the Trump years and now the pandemic. I think we can all benefit from being transported by these immersive new sound journeys & I look forward to presenting new ways in which spoken word and beautiful music can be combined.

All releases in the Music & Meditation series will also be available in instrumental versions.
