Max RM – Thinking & Talking (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Elegant Acoustic creation based on guitar chords and melodic synth sounds. The artist describes a situation that more or less we all have experienced in our life. Have you ever felt frustrated, with no goals and future plans? Maybe lost in everyday's madness? Then, now is the time to calm down and just think about your next steps.”

-Nagamag.com

The song depicts a ruminating inner monologue - it is about being discontent and struggling to find one’s path in life:

“I was feeling frustrated with myself and the world when I wrote this song; expressing these feelings in song form felt like a step towards finding some resolution.”

Recorded at home during the pandemic, the song features backing vocals by Liz Dearsley, acoustic guitar by Jamie Myers and remote mixing by Oli Deakin (Lowpines).

Graham Coe – Here I Am (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“An emotional, melodic spiritual folk tune with a finger-picked acoustic guitar accompaniment, a soft, hopeful main male vocal with soothing, soulful harmony vocals, & a mandolin type lead instrument. The song has a distinctive Irish ballad feel to it & will appeal to lovers of mellow music with meaningful lyrics.”

-Nagamag.com

"Here I Am" is soul searching and spiritual and can be described as a choral folk ballad with soft vocal harmonies and a soothing acoustic accompaniment. Think Nick Cave meets John Martyn with some mellow Simon and Garfunkel thrown in for good measure. The song is emotive, thought-provoking and meaningful and has echoes of a childhood influenced by church music and singing in the picturesque landscape of West Wicklow.

It was recorded and produced by Sean Corcoran of Bikini Island studios, Dublin. Graham has been avidly writing and recording and is looking forward to releasing more original music.

Casey Sana – MALIBLU (Vertical Video) (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“This track sounds dreamy and deep. Recalls the warm summer evening atmosphere. Full of experiences and specific images that memory recall and resonated in every listener. Memories That brings nostalgia and makes -MALIBLU- very catchy for that reason. Heartwarming music with energy and originality.”

“Трек звучит мечтательно и глубоко. Напоминает атмосферу тёплого летнего вечера. Он полон переживаний и специфических образов, которые найдут отклик в любом слушателе. Это мгновение меланхоличности делает -MALIBLU- цепляющим. Музыка, в которой есть энергия, оригинальность, смысл и сердце.”

-Nagamag.com

“Maliblu is a place you go to when everyone is telling you that you’ve got it all; your Instagram shows you ‘living your best life’, but inside yourself you’re still unhappy.”

Casey Sana’s MALIBLU is a concept that takes one of the most beautiful places on earth and turns it into a backdrop of sadness. Sana had this to say when asked about the choice of the songs location:

“You couldn’t imagine anyone being depressed in a place like Malibu, I mean you’d have everything if you lived there, right? But I’m sure there are people that are unhappy, so I wanted to use the song as a metaphor for those people who appear to have everything on the surface, but are secretly hurting behind their smile.”

The bridge of the song includes the lyrics ‘when you’re living in this western spell, where you lose yourself, just to gain the world’

“The western spell is that ‘things’ make you happy, and because we believe this, we chase these material things at all costs; the cost of happiness, friendship, health and so on, then we get these things just to realise that it doesn’t make us any happier of fulfilled. it’s crazy!”

Alas de Liona – Pages (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Very sensual and thoroughly thought-out composition, with excellent harmony and deep leading vocal performer. Very beautiful, emotional and sometimes discreet work.”

“Детально продуманная композиция, очень чувственная, с отличной гармонией и глубоким лидирующим вокалом исполнительницы. Работа эмоциональная, местами сдержанная и очень красивая.”

-Nagamag.com

Pages is song 4 from Radio Astronomy EP which Alas describes as a bittersweet, ‘leaving on a jet plane’ type song, lyrics are pretty straightforward romantic, with a kind of corny, lite-philosophical moment.

www.alasdeliona.com

Alas de Liona hails from a small town in the Mojave Desert and her final year at UC Santa Barbara saw her head to Edinburgh in Autumn 2019, to complete the course there.

Having originally studied religious history and folklore at college, she had an instant affinity with the city’s striking architecture and artistic lineage.

During her stay, her main passion for songwriting and performing saw her starting to make a name for herself performing in Edinburgh pubs before the pandemic closed all venues.

Her haunting vocals, often compared to the likes of Joni Mitchell and Phoebe Bridgers, are woven through lyrically complex, rich imaginal soundscapes.

Finally, free from the rigour of academia, Alas is now fulfilling her musical aspirations, recording Radio Astronomy EP in December 2020 with producer Rod Jones (Idlewild) at Post Electric Studios, Leith, Edinburgh.

Cascade is the third track released from her Radio Astronomy EP. The song is about loss and dwelling in a painful memory. The video marks her debut as writer and director.

Dennis Ellsworth – Rainy Slope (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Soft vocals, guitar, scorching bass and drums. Such a modest bouquet of instruments sounds very solid and one-sided. Strong song with excellent performance.”

“Мягкий вокал, гитара, обжигающий бас и ударные. Такой скромный букет инструментов звучит очень цельно и однопланово. Крепкий материал и прекрасное исполнение.”

-Nagamag.com

Dennis Ellsworth closes the loop on landmark Bound By Love Series, with Wolves Not Far, sharing ten portraits of fatherhood and life amid the struggle to find peace in this world.

“The future is grim on this one,” said Ellsworth (he/him). “Wolves Not Far has a few tributes on it, but largely deals with troubles and threats. The reality is that I strive to cast positive light onto the messy world, which all feels like a confusing dream right now. Darkness comes at the close of each day, but the light returns if we nurture our world and ourselves within it.”

“Let’s see how long it takes until it’s too late / let’s see how long it goes,” the songwriter muses on focus track, “Rainy Slope,” which mourns a lack of political leadership and accountability. “Thought you knew it all but I guess you don’t / and now you’re hanging on to a rainy slope.”

Inspired by graffiti Ellsworth would pass on morning walks with his daughter Esme, Wolves Not Far balances a fear of the unknown (“Dusk Over Everything” & “Wolves Not Far”) and human selfishness (“Cut Corners” & “Rainy Slope”) with expressions of devotion (“Sweet You” & “Honey Sky”) and tributes to heroes near and far (“DH Money” & “What’s Left?”).

Wolves Not Far marks the third and final installment in Ellsworth’s Bound By Love Series, which reconsiders the status quo of how artists release music, while sharing a staggering 32 new songs across 3 albums and 3 EPs.

“Bandcamp has gone above and beyond for artists during this precarious time, and as such, the full length albums will only be available there, in CD, LP, and digital formats,” said Ellsworth. “That said, streaming fans shouldn’t feel left out. As a companion to each full length album release on Bandcamp, we’ll be releasing a sampler EP to streaming services. If you want to hear and support the full project, you know where to find it. Everybody wins."

Gal Musette – Honeymoon (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“There is such music, which emanates the warmth and kindness. -Honeymoon- surprisingly it succeeds that with unusual ease. Gentle, almost airy vocals -Grace Freeman- and lyrical melody will win your heart. A jewel in your music collection.”

“Есть музыка, от которой веет теплом и добротой. -Honeymoon- на удивление это удаётся с необычной лёгкостью. Нежный, почти что воздушный вокал -Grace Freeman- и лирическая мелодия завоюют ваши сердца. Маленький бриллиант в музыкальной коллекции.”

-Nagamag.com

Idealized romances were not based on reality. It is beautiful and hard to see someone for who they really are, not who you expected/wanted them to be.

http://www.galmusettemusic.com/

Native of San Clemente, California, Gal Musette sprung up as a musical project between ages 10 and 13, which is when Young musical prodigy Grace Freeman began writing piano-based lyrical compositions and performing at local open-mics. Her whimsical approach to melody-driven indie-folk and French Chanson music captured local audiences, and at 14 her music reached a wider audience as she opened for groups like The Magnetic Fields, who inspired her to write “70 love songs” in tribute to their “69 love songs.”

Gal Musette, taking her name from the French style “Bal Musette,” an accordion-based French waltz style, draws inspiration from artists like Joni Mitchell, Regina Spektor, Bjork, Cocteau Twins, Rufus Wainwright, Irving Berlin and The Cure. In more recent years, she has opened for several renowned artists such as Macy Gray, Suzanne Vega, Todd Snyder, and Donavon Frankenreiter. In October she will be releasing her debut album “Backwards Lullaby,” featuring a vocal duet with one of her musical inspirations, Rufus Wainwright. Her upcoming album explores the pangs of hopeless romances and unrequited love, what it’s like to move beyond idealized love into the acceptance of what is real and constant, as well as the cyclical nature of life and love in relationships.

‘DRUM’ By Emmi (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“Vigorous, very juicy with a minimal sound. A fine example of quality arrangements. This is a very energetic, with a great performance of music, which is intertwined with interesting lyrics.”

“Энергичное, очень сочное и на единое звучание. Прекрасный образец качественной аранжировки и работы со звуком в целом. Это очень энергичная, с великолепным исполнением музыка, которая переплетается с интересными текстами.”

-Nagamag.com

“All the world’s a stage,” mused William Shakespeare in times past. “And all the men and women merely players.” It’s a particularly pertinent quote for Devon-born, Perth-raised, New York-based singer-songwriter Emmi who releases her new single “Drum” today. The single is the first offering from Emmi’s forthcoming concept project Players – a collection of epic pop songs inspired by the characters of Shakespeare’s plays, but repurposed for our times.

“Drum,” a cacophonous, percussion-heavy banger that gallops through life and death and is based around the witches from Macbeth opens the show. Written by Emmi and produced by BAYB (Ben Harrisson and Ibrahim Asmar), the avant-pop “Drum” bolts gothic drama onto sinister, Arca-esque beats.

But existentialism, Shakespeare and witches aside, there is a more personal meaning behind “Drum”. “This song is really a message to myself – ‘Step into the spotlight, don’t be so shy’. I’ve wasted years feeling too anxious to be myself in my work for fear of opinions of people I don’t even know. This single is me shaking that shit off and saying…’Fuck it. We may not have tomorrow. So this is me! With orchestras!”

In many ways Players is the perfect encapsulation of Emmi’s creative life so far. Signing to a film agent at the age of 19 Emmi upped sticks and headed to the UK with dreams of acting in period pieces and Shakespeare. Her first few songs were written in backstage corridors and theatre orchestra pits between shows. It wasn’t until another cast member held out the phone while on a call to a music manager that Emmi was discovered and her free fall into music began. Starting out via the songwriting-for-hire route, (with platinum selling co-writes for artists such as Little Nikki, Sonny Alven and French DJ Feder), meant that she could start to utilise the skills she’d learned from acting, (by imagining herself in someone else’s shoes), before cutting her teeth on her own material.

Emmi’s early self-released singles earned her early fans in the likes of Taylor Swift, Elton John, The Guardian, MTV, Billboard and BBC Radio 1’s Greg James. Despite the warm welcome and the demand for more releases, however, Emmi lost her way and made the unusual decision to vanish, no sooner than she had appeared… Until a chance email out of the blue asking her to perform a song co-written by JK Rowlingturned into an unlikely appearance in Rowling’s 2016 blockbuster Fantastic Beats and Where To Find Them as a CGI jazz singer. As part of that process Emmi got to go to London’s iconic Abbey Road studios to watch over scoring sessions, an experience that changed everything.

Three years later Emmi returns with a wealth of songs and stories to set free, with “Drum” proving a key song in her Players project and a fitting first taste of Emmi’s newfound sound. “It took three weeks and about seventeen rewrites, but that’s when I truly heard myself for the first time.” In four minutes, Emmi had managed to bottle everything about her character – the performer, the dramatist, the lover, the show-off – into music she could really believe in.

“This is something unearthly, but at the same time warm and native. Light acoustics, a little bit of wind instruments and piano. In all this beauty, the cherry on the cake could be the velvety vocals from -Pine Hound-.”

“Это что-то неземное, но одновременно тёплое и такое родное. Лёгкая акустика, немного духовых инструментов и пиано. У всей этой красоты есть вишенка на торте - бархатный вокал -Pine Hound-.”

Jake Scott – Off (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Slow story with lyrical motif in which a charming chorus of -Jake Scott- rips the soul. The vocals are not just present, it is a key chip, without which the song would not exist.”

“Неспешная история с лирическим мотивом, в которой чарующий припев -Jake Scott- разрывает душу. Вокал здесь не просто присутствует, он является ключевой фишкой, без которой эта песня не могла бы существовать.”

-Nagamag.com

Jake Scott releases “Off,” the lead single from his first formal project (due this Summer). Co-written with Josh Kerr (Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Camilo Cabello, Little Big Town), “Off” is a passionate, alt-pop love song about vulnerability of love.

Alongside the release of “Off,” Scott is guest curating Spotify’s Chill Pop (492K followers) playlist this week. See his favorite tracks of the moment, including, Queen of Silver Linings by Amy Allen, and Stupid Deep by Jon Bellion here: Chill Pop Playlist link

The LA-based singer/songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist has built a name for himself with his unconventional release model over past several years, as well as his work as the go-to collaborator for acts like Aloe Blacc, Jason Mraz, Carrie Underwood and Christina Perri. Scott’s voice will sweep you off your feet, think JP Saxe's catchy, relatable intimacy flawlessly blended with Ed Sheeran's soulful, passionate pop sound. You can't help but become addicted, which is only evident with the 250M+ streams he’s accumulated -- 150M+ that came in 2020 alone -- and 3M+ monthly listeners.

In 2018, Scott committed to his fans that he'd write, produce, and release one new song a month. He stayed true to his word, teaming up with some of pop’s go-to hitmakers like Steve Soloman (James Arthur) and David Hodges (Evanescence). He capped his song a month project at the end of 2020, having released his biggest hits in the process, including “Tuesdays” (30M+ streams) and “Like No One Does” (29M+ streams), plus a sold-out debut headlining tour.

This is just the first of new music coming from Jake Scott this year. Stay tuned for more.

Maryen Cairns – Spirit – Alt Mix (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Very balanced and harmonic classical piece, with positive mood. Charming singing that guides you through a soothing experience. Your soul elixir has a name and it’s called; “Spirit”. “Maryen Cairns” unfolds her talent in this mix and the video looks really fantastic too.”

-Nagamag.com

One of the consequences of relocation from the Southern to the Northern hemisphere, followed by the onset of widespread lockdown and restriction of travel, has been ongoing deep solitary introspection and self reflection, and an in-depth communion with God & nature and the search for Spiritual comfort.

This journey has resulted, for singer songwriter Maryen Cairns, in the creation of this downtempo stirring ballad that is “Spirit”, especially in this stripped back piano based “Alt-Mix” version, which is being released first as a single.

Recorded entirely by herself with piano, acoustic guitar & strings, Maryen then sent Spirit to her producer and mentor Chris Kimsey across the channel in London, where he added his magic touches and co-mixed.
