The Remaining Part – Misery – Piano Diaries Session (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Taken out from "The Remaining Part" debut album, this piece unites the classical acoustic beauty with inspirational singing. Starting like a fairytale it uncovers a hidden epic power, which travels way back in some mythical era, full of adventure!”

"Misery" is a dreamy, melancholic song about a girls standing on the railway tracks waiting for the train. It’s an attempt to unite something tragic and something beautiful.

Despite the Corona pandemic and the bad situation for the music industry, the Danish/German songwriting trio stayed creative and screwed in their Berlin studio on the perfect piano and vocal sound. With "Piano Diaries" the three songwriters have written a musical diary in pandemic times, in which intimacy and emotion hit the right note.

About The Remaining Part

"Piano Diaries" is the name of the new album by the band THE REMAINING PART. It will be released on March 29, 2021 as a follow-up LP to the orchestral debut album "Northern Tales" on Edition B+.

Despite the Corona pandemic and the bad situation for the music industry, the Danish/German songwriting trio stayed creative and retreated to their small Berlin studio to rearrange the songs of their debut album. The result is the counterpart to "Northern Tales": instead of opulent instrumentation, they prefer to play one note less and hold one chord longer in their piano versions. You can hear simple, cleverly composed piano arrangements and the solo voices of Sharyhan Osman and Line Bøgh, which sensitively merge with the choir voice of Maxi Menot. Thus, it is mainly quiet melodies, the balanced and nuanced sound of the piano and the spherical choir passages that make the album a melancholic dreamy one.

Kaya May – I Wish I Could Love You (Spotify)

“Deeply emotional single with the revealing artistry of singer and songwriter "Kaya May". Sit back and prepare for a mesmerizing Lounge break. Very sophisticated waves of sound accompanied by the artist's silvery voice and those clearly expressive lyrics. Highly recommended.”

-Nagamag.com

Kaya May shared with us behind the inspiration of this song:

"I wrote this about a concept I honestly have never heard in a song before - wishing you could love someone back. I met a guy on the internet, spontaneously decided to do a roadtrip across the country with him having never met before, and learned so much about him and myself along the way. I learned that I have a habit of confusing happiness with love, and that's the first line of the song. I received an overwhelming response from people expressing that they could relate to the song, and I'd like to give as many people as possible the opportunity to connect."

“Laced with elements of R&B, Funk & Jazz & reminding me at times of Steely Dan with the added bonus of the finely tailored vocals of Connie Brannock. If this exceedingly well produced, beautifully performed song is anything to go by, the album is a must have.”

Filiah – Goodbye (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Against the backdrop of gentle orchestration & a repeating guitar note Filiah’s sweet & pure vocal harmonies reach out to tug at your heart. Goodbye is a song that describes the deep sense of abandonment, loss & heartache one feels when someone you love ends the relationship.”

-Nagamag.com

Goodbye is an unfiltered insight into Filiah's mind.

The song deals with the feeling of abandonment after the sudden ending of a deep love. It's about how the process of choosing to love yourself and saying goodbye can feel like both the best and most painful choice at the same time.

"This song is about me realizing that sometimes it doesn’t matter how great and infatuating a love is, if the people involved just end up in these toxic patterns again and again. I found myself getting caught up in nostalgia and memories on purpose just to still feel close to this person after they left. It felt as though I was literally carrying that ghost with me everywhere. And it was crushing. That was not how I wanted to remember it. So I wrote this song as a reminder for myself that saying goodbye sometimes is the only right choice."

It is the first single of an upcoming concept album- a raw and honest exploration of love, grief, nostalgia and all feelings in between.

Goodbye, as well as the album was recorded and produced by Filiah in her living room.

Katnes – Drop The Mask (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Deeply emotional singing performance that barely reveals the artist's inner thoughts. We all more or less use to wear "masks" in order to hide our vulnerabilities. Do you have the courage to drop that mask and accept reality as it is?!”

-Nagamag.com

Drop the Mask’ is about seeing people as a whole, without anything covering their flaws and uncertainties. It is an encouragement to show yourself and be true to who you are. This acoustic ballad showcases Kati’s abilities as a songwriter and as an artist growing into her own. Her music is approachable, written with a certain intentionality to the atmosphere it creates. A mixture of acoustic guitar and beautiful melodies easily conjure images of the misty forests and lakes of Finland – even if only ever seen in pictures.

Kati Niemi, who records as Katnes, is an independent singer-songwriter who combines Nordic soundscapes and Finnish melancholy with americana country music. The end result is fresh indie-folk or what Norwegians call Nordicana. Katnes has been strongly influenced by vocalists like Adele, Birdy and Sara Bareilles. Combining those influences into her own unique voice and the tasty fingerstyle guitar playing of Petri Kuusela (Lanai), we can hear such warm, open and tasteful modern folk emerging from Finland.Kati

“After a three year break Ben Walter is back with his new single ‘Blossom’ and what a powerful re-entry into the pop/dubstep world it is. The track begins as a tradition mainstream pop charter with a melodic cinematic riser & outstanding vocal, before launching into a full-on gated dubsteb theme. Heartfelt & meaningful lyrics throughout. This one could make you shed a tear or just bop or both?”

David Omlor – Ghosts in Oklahoma (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“In this track David recounts the injustice dealt to Native Americans on the infamous ‘Trail Of Tears’ & all in the name of progress. The short intro sets the mood for the clear, melodic & slightly gritty vocal. The tasteful guitar adds a touch of melancholy that sits perfectly with the other instruments to create a sorrowful atmosphere for the thought provoking narrative.”

Gently not Judgingly by Sweet Imperfections (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Acoustic piano and violin piece written for all different people. “Sweet Imperfections” aims to emphasize the fact that we shouldn’t discriminate between human races. Impressive melodies binded with meaningful words.”

-Nagamag.com

Sweet Imperfections said about this song:

“” We wrote this song during the “Black Lives Matter” movement over the summer with a desire to help this Country feel loved again and hopefully heal the deep divide between our people. Gently not Judgingly is calling out to us to; “Take a walk in my shoes and you will see, you’re not that much different from me”. We wanted to inspire people to understand and sympathize with our differences instead of condemning and judging people. We believe it’s time for real change as depicted in the bridge, “It’s time to let the past times pass through us, find a new way to make waves of real change”. “”

Loyk – 1999 (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Hip-Hop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“The new heartfelt single 1999, from 20 year old Belgian singer songwriter Loyk (Björn Loykens), who incidentally is famous for his dancing in his home country. Is out now & if this song is anything to go by? His dancing is soon to be overshadowed by his outstanding musical performances. The track opens with a melancholic solo piano intro & then slips seamlessly into a vocal drifting somewhere between R&B & cloud rap.
This is a wonderful song, Lo-fi in its hazy, dreamlike and relaxed sound. The lyrics pull you into the heart & soul of Loyk & the loving, yet difficult relationship he has with his mother. Beautifully performed & produced I can highly recommend this tear-jerker of a track.”

At age 20, Loyk (Björn Loykens) is already a veteran dancer in Belgium but only recently got naturally ushered into making music. After meeting producer Jazz Maeson, he’s been sojourning in a creative space for the past year. He eventually reconciled to a wavy sound that explores the edges of r&b and cloud rap, the perfect vehicle to spread his message and express his personal feelings. Loyk is now ready to share his music with the world.

Jax Anderson, K.Flay – I Don’t Care Anymore (Video)

“This work is insanely creative and full of positive energy. -I Do not Care Anymore- Basically having affections from indie & lo-fi pop and demonstrating quality humor by -Jax Anderson and K.Flay-.”

“Безумно креативная работа наполненная позитивной энергией. -I Don’t Care Anymore- вереница из таких удачных звеньев, как indie & lo-fi pop и качественный юмор от исполнителей -Jax Anderson и K.Flay-.”

-Nagamag.com

Today, newfound friends Jax Anderson and K.Flay team up for their self-empowerment track “I Don’t Care Anymore”, released via Jax’ label Neon Gold Records HERE.

https://stem.ffm.to/idontcareanymore%C2%A0

Jax started the song as a demo on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@jaxandersonmusic/video/6938879468085857542 where it tracked 400,000 views and proved to be an undeniably relatable bop. She decided to invite K.Flay along into the studio, as well as producer Tommy English, to bring the song to life while creating an important dialogue at the same time.

Jax says: “Someone commented recently that I Don’t Care Anymore is a song about nihilistic optimism & I’d say they’re totally right. I’m saying “nothing matters, but isn’t it freeing?” It’s my way of fully accepting who I am & rejecting any standards that I’ve learned to carry. It’s incredible how freeing life is when you choose not to give a fuck, right? All I can do is live as myself, truly & fully & it’s been awesome.”

K.Flay adds: “This collaboration came about totally organically. Jax posted an early version of the song on TikTok, people loved it, and a bunch of folks commented that I should feature on the track. So we made it happen! The lyrics really resonated with me. For anyone who’s felt like an outsider, you eventually reach a point where you actually stop caring what other people think. And you embrace yourself with a newfound sense of confidence and swagger and kindness. To me, that’s what this song is all about.”

Jax Anderson, who changed from her Flint Eastwood moniker to her real name, has built a reputation for writing alt-pop anthems that boldly speak to overcoming the forces in the world that try and keep us from loving ourselves and actualizing our full potential.

About K.Flay: The Chicago-born K.Flay’s near-undefinable amalgamation of dark-electro soundscapes, art-pop sensibilities, spitfire rhymes, industrial rock backbone and versatile chameleon-like vocals has led the songwriter/artist/multi-instrumentalist to two GRAMMY nominations (Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for ‘Every Where Is Some Where’, and Best Rock Song for “Blood in the Cut”), tours alongside Grouplove, Imagine Dragons & Thirty Seconds To Mars, and festival spots at ACL Fest, Bonnaroo, Coachella, Treefort, and Riot Fest. She most recently dropped her ‘Don’t Judge A Song By Its Cover’ EP via BMG in December where her transportive musicality takes a blindsiding trifecta of 90s rock staples (Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff”, Green Day’s “Brain Stew” and The Offspring’s “Self Esteem”) and reimagines them into another dimension.
