French Fries and Margarita – Crimes Against Nature (Video)

Categories: Blogwave, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“A smooth velvety production, the song is catchy & current, both sonically & lyrically. The latter being a statement that we all have the right to be ourselves. The rich vocals are performed with an absorbing flamboyance & effortless ease. We think this has hit written all over it.”

-Nagamag.com

Lyrically, the song manifests the most essential right for any human being: the right to be themselves. Melodically, the debut single absorbed UFO-influenced electronic elements which are authentic to FFM and unique pop-oriented sound.

Skripture – Journey (Video)

“In track -Journey- you discover emotion, melodies, and, most importantly, the right vocal harmonies. All that gives makes music soulful. Very powerful vocals in the tradition of old-school hip-hop artists for a bright screen that hides a kind soul.”

“В -Journey- есть эмоция, мелодика и, что самое важное, вокальные гармонии. Всё это придаёт музыке душевность. Очень мощный вокал, в лучших традициях старой школы hip-hop исполнителей, за яркой ширмой которых прячется добрая душа.”

The South West London Rapper/Producer Is Back on The Rap Scene With More Creativity and Drive

Skripture is dropping his first music video today, “Journey” to kick start the campaign on his latest EP Bally. With 2 EP releases already this year, Multi-talented Skripture gives us his first visuals to his thought-provoking single.

“Journey” is produced, written and mixed and mastered by Skripture. The song contains poignant lyrics revealing the vicious cycle of life when coming from the inner city of London, the bad and ugly and the long-lasting impacts it has on the heart, mind and soul. How you have to keep moving forward, even if you’re afraid, things aren’t fair or you don’t know where you’re gonna end up.

“It was inspired by the surroundings I grew up in and how they affected my decision making in situations that could have ended up with me paying a heavy price. Even though I knew better I still put myself in those situations. It’s a very personal track, hopefully people will see the message I was trying to portray with the concept.”

Porcelain – Hold Me In The Dark (Video)

Categories: Electronica, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“The concept is very clever & I will not give it away here. You will have to listen & decide for yourselves. Will the music seduce you? Will the singer invoke a feeling of love or lust within you? Maybe both? You will feel something. I guarantee it, but what?”

-Nagamag.com

‘Hold Me In The Dark’ is deliberately bittersweet, inviting listeners to choose whether to hear darkness or light in both the instrumentation and the lyrics.

For those that hear darkness ‘Hold Me In The Dark’ sets the scene with a picturesque but hazy description of an illicit love affair laced with betrayal and obsession. This tortured scene romanticizes unrequited love and the longing to embrace the reality through an embrace.

While for those that hear light ‘Hold Me In The Dark’ is a serenely beautiful midnight dance, enveloped in the arms of the one you love, while long velvet drapes blow and candles flicker in a balmy summer breeze. ‘Hold Me In The Dark’ was inspired by Carl Jung’s concept of the shadow self which proclaims “I must have a dark side also if I am to be whole”.

SLEEVEENS – The Draw (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“The power of music is so great that it can transfer our deepest feelings. “SLEEVEENS” prove their ability to give shape in raw sound with this sophisticated, dedicated to love, Neoclassical piece.”

-Nagamag.com

The Draw is a love song about the magnetism between flawed individuals and the perceived certainty that we can find in each other.
The track starts out with a composition of beautiful strings and haunting vocals.
The video for The Draw, features footage from the film “She Shoulda Said No!”, featuring Lila Leeds.

The tragic story of the demise of Lila Leeds’s film career and her participation in the making of this exploitation film touches heavily on themes within the song about being pulled towards reckoning with uncomfortable truths that upset our world view. And in the current cultural landscape where attitudes towards gender, representation and identity are in flux it is important to remember examples of tragic discrimination like that of Lila Leeds.

“Glory In the Meeting House” – Sandeep Das and Mike Block (Video)

Categories: The Latest, Video, World Music|Tags: , , , , |

“I almost don’t know what to say about this wonderful, joyous uplifting piece of music except maybe “Wow! That was genuinely mind blowing!.” A cello played like a fiddle? Accompanied by tabla? How could that possibly work? Well work it did and then some! Apparently, a traditional Appalachian fiddle tune that to my ears, also had a distinctive Irish & Indian feel. A masterclass by Mike Block & Sandeep Das. I could almost taste the moonshine & I’m getting the album for sure.”

-Nagamag.com

GRAMMY-winning cellist Mike Block and GRAMMY-winning tablaist Sandeep Das have released “Glory In The Meeting House,” their first single from their upcoming album, Where The Soul Never Dies, due out June 11 release via Bright Shiny Things.

“‘Glory in the Meeting House;’ is a traditional Appalachian fiddle tune, learned via Kentucky fiddler Luther Strong, who recorded it for Alan Lomax in 1937. In addition to adapting the fiddle melody for the cello, I changed the tuning of my instrument to create low drone strings in the key of E, to broaden the rhythmic texture surrounding the melody. This track also marks the the first time in Sandeep Das’ career that he has experimented with using two separate Tabla’s tuned to different pitches, creating an untraditional percussive texture with multiple pitches. The energy of the piece captures the spontaneity and friendship Sandeep and I feel, as we learned from each other’s musical traditions.” — Mike Block

Aaron Davison x MJ Malone – Oh, My Love (Video)

“Intentionally reminiscent of the classic Beatles mellow harmonies ‘Oh My Love’ does a pretty good job of capturing the late 60’s early 70’s sound.. Aaron Davison and MJ Malone certainly reproducing the mood in this catchy rendition. Nostalgia in abundance.”

Sarah Reiwitch – Daydreaming Again (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“No place here for a basic strumming, or even standard finger-picking. Sarah’s pleasantly ringing creativity when playing the acoustic guitar is a breath of fresh air. The creativity overflows into perfectly placed chimes & other manner of musical alchemy. Did I mention the vocals? I’m searching for a word and I think that word has to be…. Perfection.”

-Nagamag.com

The song will make you feel dreamy with its delicate chimes and choruses of multiple layered vocal harmonies, I was inspired to write it after seeing leaves dance in the breeze behind my bedroom blinds and while contemplating a complicated relationship and a new job that was about to start. I hope you like it! Thanks for listening.

https://www.facebook.com/sarahreiwitchmusic

Sarah writes folk-inspired tunes with heartfelt vocals on her acoustic guitar. She’s inspired to create songs by all the moments of joy, ecstasy, heartbreak, and grief that she passes through. She draws from her varied background of musical influences, from 70s folk/rock to modern indie-folk to several styles of Brazilian music. She is often likened to Joni Mitchell for her exploratory guitar style, alternative tunings, soulful vocals, and intensely personal lyrics. In addition to Joni, Sarah cites Adrianne Lenker, Brandi Carlile, and Cássia Eller as artists she resonates with.

Sarah is a multi-instrumentalist who creates music on the piano and acoustic guitar, then layers on other instruments. She has a background in Brazilian percussion and dance, which she studied for nearly a decade, and is a published poet.

Rudyb – Into the wild (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“The opening interplay between acoustic & electric guitar continues throughout the song to provide a background for the engaging solo male vocals in the early verses & the sweet harmony female vocals that accompany in later verses. The rest of the band joins in during the pre-chorus builds & throughout each chorus to lift the song even more. Extremely listenable.”

-Nagamag.com

It’s a song about going into the unknown. Acoustic vibes with a deep and sad message as undertone. Going ‘into the wild’ is actually not what most people would think from first listen.

• John William Richard • Hello • Official Audio • (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

“-Hello- is clean and offers an easy listen like a morning breeze minimalism. Wandering notes piano, ambient flutter and twitter spring field recordings.”

“-Hello- это чистый и лёгкий словно утренний ветерок минимализм. Блуждающие ноты пиано, трепетание эмбиента и весенний щебет полевых записей. ”

-Nagamag.com

Often things come full circle. As a child John William Richard’s love affair with music began as a classically trained musician, with hours spent studying both the piano and cello. However a lifetime has been spent elsewhere, from, amongst other things, fronting a new romantic group, managing artists, starting a label and running a nightclub. Now, with the release of ‘Hello’, John William Richard returns to the rigour of the Classical tradition, mixing that with flashes of contemporary electronica, creating something that is both intimate and breathtakingly cinematic.

“I think in film images when I write and as the world comes into focus the scene emerges and the internal director takes over. ‘Hello’ seemed like the perfect starting point and introduction to a project that has taken on more of a life than I ever expected.”

Much of the recording was done in his home studio in Bath, but to get the piano sound he wanted he decamped to legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales.

“It felt absolutely right to be recording piano at one of the great studios of my lifetime. The Yamaha grand was my choice and to finding a hammond there waiting for one of the tracks seemed serendipity ”

With over 20 compositions recorded and ready to go, and a growing list of collaborators, both home and abroad, including the introduction of Bruno Ellinhgam (Massive Attack, UNKLE) to mix the record, John William Richard’s return to his musical roots is taking on a new life of its own.
