TripL Interview on Nagamag

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

TripL:
While we've been known a lot for our progressive house in the past, this year we've decided to explore different genres and been switching it up a bit with classic piano chords in the break and a future house style Hexagon drop in both our Dua Lipa Remix and Never Gonna Give You Up to explore new horizons, which is something which we gonna keep pushing in the near future.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

TripL:
We each had different musical background, Lior played the piano and listened to a wide range of music from an early age. He has
been DJing and producing music from the age of 15. while finishing “Muzik” college school as an honor student he was releasing a few “white label” remixes that got supported by big names like: Fedde La Grand, Dave Spoon, Hard Rock Sofa and many more. While Omri started his career when he was only 14 years old. An autodidact and a perfectionist
producer/mixing/mastering with sharp senses for sound design. Working as a music producer at “Mantra Music Productions” for the last 10 years with more than 500 remixes and original productions. His first release in the electronic scene happened way back in his youth, signing tracks at the German record label “Platten Bank” supported by Sasha and
John Digweed.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

TripL:
We actually started listening to club trance as kids. The good old Magic Sunrise compilations by Tiësto. Then we moved towards the house scene including legends like Axwell, Bob Sinclar and more. These days we're trying to explore more genres and decades of music. Gotta say that we're huge fans of the original disco and funk scene of the 70s! Pure music.

Nagamag:
How would you describe your latest release "Get On Down"?

TripL:
‘Get On Down’ invites you to adhere to the dancefloor-ready release’s mantra title from the jump-off, distorted house synths ushering in a deep, reverbed vocal that projects forth the hands-in-the-air, slinking house vibe before it’s even out of the gate – make no mistake these boys didn’t come to play. Fortifying their “Get On Down” topline that serves as the axis of the track for attitude-driven snaps of delivery and uplifting, vigorous energy to overtake like a tsunami.

Nagamag:
Can you please tell us what you guys been up to in recent times, how were you affected by the pandemic?

TripL:
We have been pretty busy actually, we were invited to take over guestmixes for a lot of renowned DJs such as Tigerlily and more. Still dealing with pandemic wasn’t easy and have lead to a lot of tours and festivals being cancelled, there was one in march that was affected the most. We were meant to play in front of 60,000 people known for being one of the biggest parties in the Middle East where we planned on premiering our new local hit, we made up for that with a livestreams full of IDs and Festival bangers. Despite all of that it didn’t prevent us from using the lockdown for the best and spend more time in the studio making a lot new music which “Get On Down” is just the tip of what’s yet to come. In addition we've released a Local pop hit called “Tamid Kadima” meaning always moving forward in Hebrew which talks about positivity and fit the current Covid-19 situation perfectly, the song received a lot of success with over million plays within the first two weeks, live morning shows performances and lots radio supports.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

TripL:
Diplo & SIDEPIECE "On My Mind"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

TripL:

YLLOW & Vyel – Leave Me Alone (Video)

Categories: EDM Features, Features, Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Music is a medicine and your safe shelter when things not work out good, here YLLOW & Yvel offer us a music pill that will bring all the smiles back to face and goosebumps in your backbones. Beautiful euphoric harmonies and upbeat heartwarming vocals to start or end your day perfect! Leave Me Alone – now enjoy my music!”

-Nagamag.com

When YLLOW finished the first idea of his new instrumental track, he came up with an uplifting & living lead melody and an emotional chord progression. He then contacted Vyel via e-mail a year ago to ask him if he would be in to collaborate with him on his new track. Vyel wrote the lyrics and recorded the vocals, then YLLOW reworked the instrumental multiple times. Soon after the track was 100% finished, the duo sent it to WildVibes for a final mix & master.

This song is about not letting others define the choices and decisions of your life, and having the courage to trust oneself to take action and find your way without paying attention to the judgement of others.

As we are more and more people to feel alone in these strange times, this song is also a reminder that we can learn to appreciate and celebrate the times we spend alone.

If anxiety is often a downside in this situation, self-awareness is also its upside : when you know yourself well, you’re simply doing everyday what makes you happy. Is it listening to music? Is it making music? Or is it running maybe? Playing video games? Travelling the world and exploring? Reading a book? Cooking? Watching movies and series? Learning new skills?

tigerlily Interview on Nagamag

Categories: Features, Interviews, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

tigerlily:
I'd say it's sultry, chill, pop music.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

tigerlily:
New York City-based artist tigerlily makes sultry pop, a sound described by EARMILK as pop that “radiates heat . . . the grainy film of memories so sweet and persistent." Growing up in Seattle, tigerlily fronted an all-girl grunge band that was named "Seattle's Best Underage Band" by Seattle Weekly and received support from KEXP and The Seattle Times. For her solo debut, tigerlily worked with acclaimed producer duo Nima Skeemz and Elan Wright, whose credits include Macklemore and Travis Thompson. She's opened for artists including Grammy-nominated duo Social House and over 1000 fans tuned into the benefit release concert she threw to raise money for the Martha P. Johnson Institute supporting Black Trans lives. A vocal advocate for greater representation of Asian Americans and other POC artists in the music industry, her interviews have appeared in publications such as Audiofemme and Character Media. As MACG Magazine put it, "Tigerlily has ambition, experience, and vision. She's an artist that refuses to allow the industry to define her. She's a woman with a mission and the guts to pull it off."

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

tigerlily:
I grew up watching old concert footage of all the artists my Dad loved: David Bowie, Nirvana, The Pixies, Radiohead, Johnny Cash, Michael Jackson, The Who, Prince, Queen. I remember watching Freddy Mercury on stage at Live Aid and thinking that was the pinnacle of greatness one could strive for in life. Year later, I wrote my college essay on why he inspired me: the glitz and the tragic glamour of Rock and Roll and dedicating one's being to being a performer, an icon and an artist. I guess it was never a conscious decision I made that I wanted to be an artist, I just grew up knowing that was who I was. I wrote songs all my life and when I was 13 I started an all-girl dream pop grunge band with my sister and cousin, and now I'm a solo pop artist. It's hard sometimes being an artist - figuring out who you are without the pressure of who you think the industry wants you to be and navigating your fears and self-doubt. But when it's tough, I think back to being a little kid watching those old concerts of Michael Jackson or The Who at their prime, and to me, that's the closest to magic you can get in this world. I fall back in love with that childhood dream and I know this is exactly what I'm supposed to be doing.

Nagamag:
What inspires you to keep going when you doubt yourself?

tigerlily:
I’m doing this for me, of course, but I’m also doing it for the old me and all the other Asian-American kids who grow up subconsciously believing that being a successful artist isn’t for them since they don’t see anyone who
looks like them; who grow up not being proud of their Asian heritage. I want Asian-American girls to see
me and believe they can be a popstar if they want, they can be a rockstar, they can be whoever they
dream to be.

Nagamag:
Can you talk about filming the music video for your new single new york?

tigerlily:
We shot the music video at my friend's apartment and we actually had to sneak out on the rooftop since there was a huge storm the day we were filming so it was closed. I told security I left my cell phone on the roof so they let me up and then I snuck in the film crew and we quickly shot all the dance scenes before it really started pouring rain! The drone shot at the beginning of the video we also had to shoot on the down low since that was also not allowed, haha. But yeah, I think it turned out dope and I'm so excited to finally be sharing it!

Cuushe – Magic [OFFICIAL VIDEO] (Video)

Categories: Blogwave, Features, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Magic by Cuushe is a dreamy chillwave/pop song with sensual soulful vocals and beautiful melodic lines, delivering small rain drops of nostalgia around through a heartwarming sound design which gives a softness tickling to ears as a fresh fluffy pillow does.”

-Nagamag.com

Following the big and bright return single “Hold Half”, today Cuushe shares “Magic”, the second single from WAKEN. The track features Mayuko’s distinct whispering vocals flowing in and out of the night drive-style electronic melodies. The “Magic” video is directed by Tao Tajima with animation from Yoko Kuno.

Mayuko Hitotsuyanagi puts clear outlines on her music with upcoming album WAKEN — a collection of vital, dream-pop centric beats and analog soundscapes woven with her newly freed voice, set for a November 20th release via FLAU. It moves through flamboyant analog synthesizers that seem to communicate with the universe, distorted guitars and mille-feuille-layered choruses. Wildly struck snares and beats recall the rave sounds of the ’90s, energetic, carefree.

Frank Iva – Wreckage (Video)

Categories: Features, Neoclassical, Neoclassical Features, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

“Wreckage by Frank Iva is a deep emotive solo piano which explores the shades of nostalgy through a well gently performance.”

-Nagamag.com

FRANK IVA is a Ugandan-born American music producer based in San Diego, CA. His work is an exciting fusion of electronic and live music with hints of jazz, hiphop, classical and gospel influence.

Even though his dream was to be a concert pianist, he first attended college as a Statistics major at the prestigious Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. Through college and beyond, Frank coached worship teams, taught piano, and worked as a record engineer. In 2006, he moved from Kampala to the U.S. to pursue his dreams as a producer and artist.

As a black international student pursuing a degree in Music from Judson University, Frank’s worldview was soon greatly impacted through working as Worship Arts Director for a predominantly white evangelical church in the suburbs of Chicago. He faced both overt and subtle racism in America, that left him hurt and confused about his purpose.

A series of life-altering events took Frank through a time of no music, no church; of love, loss, and redemption; and across the country to San Diego, CA where he now resides. His work as Music Director at The Rock Church, as well as his MBA in Project Management has propelled his path back to his dreams.

Today, you can find Frank Iva merging his love of Chicago’s improv Jazz with that relaxed California electro vibe, with his first single ‘Conversations’, released May 2019. His anticipated uptempo followup, ‘Bassline’, was released December 2019. He will be releasing his first EP in early 2020. You can also view video of live production and performance in Frank’s ‘Iva On The Track” series on YouTube.

-Nagamag.com

Exoticas is the lead single of I Awake & Less new album "Tabula Rasa". An album grown from a collaborative idea of making two versions using the same stems, I Awake providing the downtempo/neo-ambient flavour, and Less the upbeat club-tracks. This downtempo soundscape journey is the perfect soundtrack for the well tuned ear, a blend between synthesizers and foley all written, produced and mixed for a horizontal experience.

Leonardo the Space Pianist Interview on Nagamag

Categories: Electronica Features, Electronica Interviews, Features, Interviews, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Leonardo the Space Pianist:
My music style’s roots are a crossover of different experiences, the seed is in my background as classical pianist and metal keyboardist. I describe my music as Contemporary Space Music, where there are influences of cinematic, experimental, neo-classical, progressive metal and wave genres.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Leonardo the Space Pianist:
I was born in Venice, Italy, and discovered the piano at the age of 6 and astronomy at 9. At the age of 12, by reading Isaac Asimov, playing Beethoven and Bach, listening to Queen, Steve Vai and Robert Miles, I decided I would travel the Space and play my music outside planet Earth. So I became a professional pianist AND an aerospace engineer.
As a pianist I graduated at the Music Conservatory in Italy, studying composition and developing my passion for synths and electronic music. I was mentored by Jordan Rudess, Dream Theater's keyboardist. In the meanwhile I graduated with a PhD in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Padova, researching on hypervelocity impacts and space safety. During those years I did a concert at the ESRANGE Space Center in cold Sweden while taking part in his first space mission with the SCRAT Project, a very important milestones of my Journey.
In 2006 I created the Music House to develop my View - the project 'Nullo Die Sine Nota’. The Latin sentence means 'Not A Day Without a Note'. I recorded four studio albums and two EPs, with always new music in the flow. I played in several countries like Italy, Germany, UK, Netherlands, and Turkey. I teamed up with many artists during the years, like Yossi Sassi, Aliki Chrysochou and Anna Utopia Giordano. In the last nine years, I have worked with several dancers too; the latest chapter of this experience is 'BlackShip', an innovative show for contemporary music, contemporary fusion dance and visual art.
In 2016 I moved to Malta. I wanted to deeper discover myself, islands are the perfect metaphor of our planet, and an excellent place for freediving…and it is actually working!
Currently I am developing further my space music and researching and lecturing at University in aerospace.
Nearly forgetting, I am also passionate about martial arts and photography.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Leonardo the Space Pianist:
The very first memory I have is of myself at 3 years old with a yellow toy-piano. I liked to improvise (clearly!) with it and sometimes to disassemble (maybe an early sign of engineering). Besides this I realized that I wanted to become a pianist when I was 6 years old, I remember there was another kid playing an old upright piano at school, seeing the other school mates around happy and smiling. When he finished I have vivid in my mind that I played my first real piano key, thinking: Wow! I want to play it and share music with people!
So a few months later, I started my musical journey.

Nagamag:
How did the Covid19 pandemic influence your artistic activity?

Leonardo the Space Pianist:
I am seeing it as an opportunity of growth, despite the difficult moment that everyone is facing. I increased considerably my online activity, publishing every week vlog episodes on my YouTube channel, starting to stream regularly my music performances on Twitch and releasing with a higher frequency new music on the main music distribution platforms, like Spotify. The effects of the pandemic will take quite a lot in my opinion to be completely managed and society and music industry will be quite different in the near future. 2 new EPs and 4 singles are in the workflow for the upcoming months.

Nagamag:
Who is the Space Pianist?

Leonardo the Space Pianist:
I am a Dreamer that step by step is designing his way to perform the first piano concert on Mars.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Leonardo the Space Pianist:
IGORRR "Downgrade Desert"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?
