It's strips away the electronic drums and more commercial pop dressings of the original version to put a spotlight on the singer-songwriter soul of the song. This one is a little extra special to me because it's the first track I'm releasing that I've produced myself. In a full circle moment, I made it while quarantining in my childhood bedroom. It's the same room I learned how to play guitar at 16. The room I fell in love with music. The room where I wrote my first song. And now the room where I made my self-produced release."

The 23 year old Cincinnati native and current Angeleno first caught the world’s attention in 2011 on YouTube, where his channel has amassed over 5.5 million views. Exposure from social media jump-started Brooks’ career, leading to a 3 year recurring role on a project in Japan. If there’s one word that captures the essence of “Me in The Middle” it has to be the word motivation, and this music video sums it all up for us visually. We find SJUR amidst snow covered mountains hiking to the top with his DJ set, whilst Nordic gymnast champion Odin Kalvø tries to master a new tricky choreography. Trying to show the viewers different forms of achievement, SJUR hopes this will make you motivated enough to go that extra mile. Or try that acrobatic flip. The video is directed by Peter Bruteig.

Due to the pandemic the video shoot was postponed again and again and again. And then again. Initially the team wanted to feature a professional swimmer, but due to restrictions this turned out to be impossible. So, when going a second round on what else could be fun to involve gymnastics ended up being an easy choice as it’s a sport SJUR has been dabbling with himself. He has personally felt how the motivation and self-esteem can vary within a field like this which made him personally invested in this project. The beautiful mountains and view from the top of Midtsæterfjellet was of course a bonus too.

Odin is captain of the Norwegian national men’s gymnastics team and won the Nordic championship in 2018. When asked how important music if for him whilst training he shares that it would be impossible for him to go through a long training session without it. It’s the first time he takes part in a music video and gets to share his passion accompanied by music in this way.

“The shoot went very well! It was fun to see how professional the set up was. The gymnastic turn that I managed at the end of the video is a piece that is very stressful on the body and I only had a few in me. I’m excited that it turned out the exact way I wanted it too” – Odin Kalvø.

After turning a short TikTok video shot in her car into an empowering body acceptance anthem with over 70 million streams, Vancouver -based pop singer and songwriter JESSIA shares the music video for her breakthrough anthem “I’m not Pretty” today via Artist Driven Records/Republic Records.

In the visual, JESSIA steps through the looking glass to confront her insecurities in a playful and tongue-in-cheek kind of way and falls down a rabbit hole into an imaginary yet cinematic eye-popping peach filled wonderland inspired by Roald Dahl’s ‘James and The Giant Peach’. The video illuminates the rising artist’s fun and quirky persona, which is as infectious as the song itself.

On shooting the video for “I’m not Pretty” JESSIA says, “Filming the music video was such a surreal experience. I kept looking around set and asking myself, ‘are all of these people here for me and my song? What? Am I really here right now? What a time. It was such a party on set! SUCH A BLAST!”

“I’m not Pretty” initially exploded on Tik Tok when JESSIA introduced an acapella hook of the song by sharing, “I don’t know if this is total trash, or if it’s actually a bop.” Turns out, it was the latter as the clip racked up 1 million views in a day. The candid lyrics describe a journey towards self-love and the emotions one can feel while on its path – a message that has instantly resonated with audiences all over the world. Since January 1st, the clip has accumulated 100 million views, while the official version produced by 4x JUNO Award nominee, singer, songwriter, and producer elijah woods has cracked 43 million Spotify streams as she averages 5.3 million monthly listeners on the platform.

GOLDHOPE are an ethereal alt-pop duo from North London comprising of members Zelah Van-Gowler and Elliot Neale.
