Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Devin Kennedy announces the release of “Poetry,” out today. A song about love, and the different ways it can rise or fall, “Poetry” opens up with the lyrics “Love is not a quick read with cheap rhymes, Or cliches that we’ve heard one too many times. And love is not an essay with shortcuts and formats to me. It's an offbeat kind of rhythm, A sophisticated prism.”

Devin states, “​We live in a world where our expectations of love are created by what we see in movies, TV, and on social media. The "honeymoon phase" and “happily ever afters” get all the screen time, but so rarely do we stop and discuss the hard work and commitment it takes to make a relationship work. That’s what true love is about as far as I’m concerned.” Taking inspiration from the people around him, Devin wanted to showcase the realities of love while writing the lyrics for “Poetry.” He elaborates “My parents have been married for 30 years, I have friends who are young and just falling in love for the first time, I’ve got family members with kids who are going through a divorce, and so on. What I’m learning is that love may ebb and flow, it may take many different shapes and forms, but it is always present and it is always beautiful.”

“Poetry” is Devin’s second release of 2022, following the successful release of “Follow Through,” which wasted no time capturing the attention from places such as MTV, American Songwriter, ET Canada, and many more. Devins' captivating vocals not only landed him an exclusive performance with Z100 iHeartRadio for their Dunkin Lounge; but also received praise from artists such as Pink Sweats and Chelsea Cutler on his Tik Tok duet videos. March 19th the music video was featured on MTV Fresh Out countdown LIVE on MTV.
