Acclaimed songwriter, Dana Cooper has returned with the second single from his upcoming album, I Can Face The Truth, which will be unleashed on the world on February 18th of this year. “Bluebird”, a song written with Tom Kimmel, was released Friday January 14th on all streaming platforms. Cooper’s smooth vocal delivery lays atop a joyful and rocking bed of sound provided by the top notch band that Dana and co-producer Dave Coleman assembled for the album sessions. Cooper wanted the combination “to convey a wry sense of hope for us humans.” Kimmel offers these words about the track, “I think sometimes a song can say in a few words what would take a volume to write. It seems like this one bubbled up from a deep well and wide perspective on a world that can be pretty tough on a tender heart and a bright spirit.” As always Cooper is right at home in conveying these feelings to the listener in an amazingly uplifting way. So put your dancing shoes on and get ready to groove your way through the cold of the winter and the clouds that seem to insist on hovering over the world.

Dennis J Leise – I Only Do It Cause I Have To (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Melancholic, but with a sense of humour song that reveals how our life sometimes turns into a routine of monotonous and repetitive actions. Light music and nice voice from -Dennis j Leise- who will not leave you indifferent.”

“Меланхоличная, немного грустная, но с изрядной долей юмора песня, которая повествует о том, как порой наша жизнь превращается в рутину однообразных и повторяющихся действий. Лёгкая музыка и приятный голос -Dennis J Leise-, которые не оставят вас равнодушными.”

-Nagamag.com

Dennis J. Leise doesn’t mince words. When you’re listening to his tightly-written throwback country-folk songs, you’ll know exactly where he stands — he makes sure of that. His language is straightforward, his couplets are clever and memorable, and his observational eye is unsparing. That’s especially true when he turns his wit on himself. “I Only Do It ‘Cause I Have To,” his latest single, is an exercise in pithy poetry; it’s also an honest confession of exhaustion and a protest against the dullness of routine. It’s that sort of incisive writing that has made the Northwest Indiana farmer-musician a favorite of the Chicago Reader and other Midwestern arbiters of artistic and literary excellence.

But what, you may wonder, is it that the weary Leise is doing because he has to, not because he wants to? While he couldn’t be any franker about his emotional state, he’s not telling us its precipitating cause. The title of his album, however, provides a clue. The World That You Grew Up In Is No More is a collection of hard-time ballads and country stompers, Cash-style barnyard rave-ups and wry, plainspoken Guthrie-like protests. The sound is classic, but the sentiment is urgent and forward-looking. Dennis J. Leise is no nostalgiac. He’s got a voice that could be coming from dusty old 78s, but he uses it to deliver broadsides against smug moralists, in-the-way politicians, unapologetic consumerists, and even a drunken Santa Claus. He’s got a farmer’s impatience with authority figures, in other words, and he’s no fan of mindless conservatism or tradition for its own sake.

So when he tells us that he’s only doing something because he has to, it has a particular force. It comes from an artist who has mastered the old ways of doing things but deemed them insufficient and who isn’t afraid to face a changing world. In the clip for the song, we’re shown Leise at his grind, on his very real farm, pitching hay to the animals and attending to grueling chores. Don’t worry — he’s not disenchanted with his rural existence. He’s just as committed to sustainable agriculture as he’s always been. Instead, it’s a metaphor for the sort of automatic labor that keeps a thinker stuck in his ways and that Leise, a broadminded person, is determined to transcend.

Little Lore – Sleep Again (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“"Little Lore" sings with her mesmerizing voice in this wonderful story-telling production. Soft guitar chords mixed with violin and light drum patterns. Americana sound magic that's going to change the way you select your music!”

-Nagamag.com

Sleep Again: This song is really about what happens to people when they become truly informed about the horror of the climate emergency and how it will impact all of us. We saw it so clearly during the climate assembly in the UK earlier this year, when a hundred or so individuals from all walks of life were educated on the issues, and how they transformed their views and their behav- iours accordingly. Once the genie is out of the bottle it can’t be put in and I liked the play on cli- mate anxiety too - can you sleep again once you understand the impacts on so many innocent people from the rising temperatures? The production treatment we were aiming for is a lullaby feel I love the idea of taking pretty melodies with beautiful musical treatment on the bleakest of topics. I think this song has the most indie / alternative feel to it while holding on to the Americana roots.

Mountain Town – Shipyard Town (Spotify)

“The acoustic guitar keeps warm company and the lyrics travel us in the artist's home town. A short story about life struggle in the far West, with a little bit of nostalgia. Add a different colour in your listening experience with the seal of "Mountain Town".”

"Shipyard Town" is the latest release from Utah based Americana Band - Mountain Town. Written and recorded on the East Coast and Mastered at NashVox Studios in Nashville, "Shipyard Town" brings to light the urban realities of life in the Tidewater region. Population density, economic instability and of course reaction to a pandemic threaten this beautiful place where history and industry meet....and where your comrade may just be driven hard enough to turn on you.

Pretty Archie – Familiar Feeling (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Beautiful Folk sound and live, energetic vocals make their way and carry thoughts somewhere deep in mind. The song can quickly capture the consciousness of its listener and draw charming images in it.”

“Красивая фолк-музыка и живой, энергичный вокал делают своё дело и уносят мысли куда-то вдаль, во что-то неизведанное и прекрасное. Песня мгновенно захватывает сознание слушателя и рисует в ней чарующие символы и образы.”

-Nagamag.com

Familiar Feeling' is a song that looks at the dynamics of a long relationship. The ups and downs of a relationship can simultaneously cause deep love and drive each other mad. Ultimately, love has a way of working itself out and that familiar feeling ends up finding a way.

Pretty Archie, their sixth album, is one of which they are justifiably proud, for it represents a quantum leap forward in the evolution of the group’s sound. ”I feel each of our other records was a step ahead of the previous one, but this one is six steps ahead,” declares bassist/vocalist/songwriter Colin Gillis. “We are proud of everything we’ve put out, but this is at a different level.”

Helping the group realize the formidable creative achievement that is Pretty Archiewas internationally-acclaimed record producer and engineer Mark Howard, whose star-studded resume includes work with the likes of Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, U2, Tom Waits, The Tragically Hip, Peter Gabriel, and more. Howard’s fortuitous recent relocation to Cape Breton afforded Pretty Archie the opportunity to take advantage of his skills, and the band couldn’t be happier with the results.

Ferris & Sylvester – Golden (Video)

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

“When it happens to feel lost in this world and with a sense of not having “enough”, “Golden” has the spirit and mood you need to find your way. The Americana song which emphasizes on the importance of dreaming in our lives. Free your fantasy and never stop dreaming!”

Kicking off the year with a bang, acclaimed British blues-rock duo Ferris & Sylvester release “Golden”, the latest single to be lifted from their forthcoming debut album Superhuman, which is set for release March 11th, 2022 via PIAS/Integral.

The celebratory anthem offers another shade to the band’s already rich palette as they bring pop, soul and roots influences into their already eclectic mix. In the accompanying music video (also available today), the lush, layered harmonies and horn accents are brought to life at the venue where the duo of Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester first met: London’s beloved Spiritual Bar and shows us their journey from playing solo, to playing together, and finally to a crowded room – “just like we dreamed”.

They say “Golden is a song for the dreamers. For those who are searching for something more and aren’t quite sure how to get there, but fight for it everyday despite the odds. We wrote this at a time of great uncertainty, asking ourselves where are we going? Has anyone else been here? Sometimes those big questions can cloud you, yet your dreams somehow find a way through the fog. We hope this speaks to people and inspires them to dig in and keep dreaming.”

From tomorrow, the pair are back on the road in support of the Music Venue Trust for their ‘Revive Live’ tour. The six-date run will see the duo perform in grassroots local venues up and down the country. They are thrilled to be able to do their bit to support independent venues, especially given how tough the last couple of years have been.

“Now more than ever, local communities and artists need these spaces to be nurtured and kept alive,” they explain, and given their origin story – meeting in a small independent venue, this feels even more special. “Not only were we given a stage on which to grow and develop night after night, it is where we’ve met our dearest friends,” they add, “Music Venue Trust recognise what grassroots venues can bring to a community and strive to protect and celebrate them. We could not be more honoured to be a small part of their story.”

The rest of 2022 is set to be similarly busy as Ferris & Sylvester continue their path to their debut album. This Spring they’re set to head out to SXSW for their first US shows since 2019 with more live shows and appearances to be announced soon.

Ferris & Sylvester’s debut LP shrewdly documents the talented pair’s creative and personal journey with one another. The 12 track album – recorded in Seattle USA with Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, The Strokes), and Cornwall UK with Michael Rendall (Pink Floyd, Youth) – holds 10 brand new songs and takes the listener on a journey through the duo’s world where genres intertwine and emotions are stripped down to the core.

Superhuman came together when Issy and Archie escaped to the countryside. As lockdowns began, they discovered a life away from touring, where writing and recording was sandwiched between hiking, knitting and growing their own food.

Hailed for their “immaculate harmonies” and “rich, fully realised sound” (Rolling Stone), Ferris & Sylvester fuse folk and rock’n’roll sensibilities into an undeniable sound that has previously landed them comparisons to everyone from Simon & Garfunkel to First Aid Kit, and gigs with Mystery Jets, Robert Plant, George Ezra, Jade Bird among others.

“If you prefer some live sound, spend your time with Tommy Alexander and his rich guitar solos. In "River Run Down" the message is simple; Let the time pass and avoid looking back. Pure Americana production with the artist's friendly vocals.”

Artist said about this song:

“River Run Down” is a song with a simple and classic sentiment: let the past go. We recorded it live during the Waves sessions but it didn’t quite fit onto the record. It’s a tune we’ve really enjoyed playing live the past couple years and it feels good to finally get it out and share it with you all." - Tommy Alexander
