“Rhythmic work with '70s style. Distinct bright guitars, powerful drum sound and expressive soloists in the mood of neo-soul and funk. Don't miss it.”

“Ритмичное произведение в стилистике 70-ых годов, с яркими гитарными партиями, мощной драм-секцией и выразительным исполнением солистов в жанре neo-soul и funk. ”

Every human confronts their own personal conflict around temptation - to drive too fast, drink too much, shop and spend too much, to stay at a party too long, too over-eat, to consider cheating on a partner - to take chances that we know are likely more bad for us than good. "The War" tackles this topic by illustrating two characters who run out on their obligations and resolves in a chorus that expands the theme of temptation to be everyone's fight - Everybody Fights The War.

Stella – I.L.Y.S. (Pt.2) (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

“Atmospheric, lyrical work with charming vocals and catchy chorus effect. The perfect combination of electronics, neo-soul and live instruments that you'll love from the first seconds.”

“Мелодия припева, обворожительный вокал и запоминающийся припев. Атмосферная, лирическая работа, идеальное сочетание электроники, neo-soul и живых инструментов.”

Pt.2 is the second part to a song of Stella's called “I Love You So”. With Pt.2 closing off her debut EP, and I Love You So showing the beginning of a love story, you'll be taken through a beautiful relationship with a beautiful human. Pt.2 talks about the love that was lost, the regret behind it, and the scar that’s been left on Stella's heart. Just when you think you’re recovering from the emotion-stirring journey this song takes you on, she delivers some profound spoken word; the percussive rhythm section perfectly complimenting the poetry.

About Stella:

Out of a dark and dingy bedroom in the depths of the Black Country emerged a dreadlocked creature whose ears pricked up at the sound of twanging guitars and cracking drum beats. Galloping around, she made friends wherever she went and caused mischief along the way. She was a rebel; no care for the rules or the way things should be done. This was the beginnings of Stella.

Something of an alter ego, the name has adopted many connotations over the years, with much of her fan base unaware that it’s not actually her name...

Stella is more than a name now, more than a brand. It’s a way of life. Stella represents freedom and empowerment - the freedom to express yourself and stand up for what you believe in. Stella is finding your own way. Stella is a middle finger to the man. Stella is caring for your neighbour. Stella is joy. Stella is a party. Stella is love.

Her relationship with life has been an integral component in the sculpting of Stella’s sound. Passionate, sensitive yet dynamic, evocative and lyrically provoking, it embodies her struggles growing up in what, at times, was a cruel world. Her insecurities and vulnerabilities, her endeavours for a healthier mind and her battles with adversity are all laid bare in her songs.

Alongside these qualities she has a natural gift for writing alluring melodies and the caressing vocals to deliver them in symbiotic harmony.

If you’re a lover of honest, raw, emotive music, then Stella is for you.

To complement her natural talent, her drive, desire to progress and outgoing personality are opening new doors for her all the time, a testament to her hard work and passion.

So, what can you expect from a Stella show? Well, that’s not something that can be captured in a few words. What can be promised however is that you’ll leave with a smile on your face.

Her inspirations span far and wide and reach beyond music and her immediate experiences. As a devoted feminist and environmentalist, she endeavours every day to make the world a better place and much of her creative expression originates from this. She is also a romantic and is able effortlessly to conjure up heartfelt songs to eternalise a moment.

Some of her main musical influences include Lily Allen, Mac Miller, Bob Marley, Jorja Smith and Tom Misch. Outside of music her most significant role model is her mom, who has been there with her every step of the way, attending every gig without fail and guaranteed to be found dancing wildly at the front.

In the last few years, she has established herself as a household name on the Birmingham scene, winning best pop act at the Birmingham Music Awards in 2018, where she caught the attention of John Taylor of Duran Duran, who commended her for her performance and wrote about it on his social media pages.

She has played many of the city’s most iconic venues such as The Sunflower Lounge, The O2 Institute, and The Rotunda. She has also featured as the guest artist at the highly acclaimed jam session, Neighbourhood.

Stella has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with the likes of Kioko, Lady Sanity and Husky Loops, and was due to headline her first show for Birmingham Promoters in December. Sadly, due to the COVID pandemic this had to be postponed until further notice, but as soon as the restrictions are lifted, rest assured it’s gonna go off!

Currently she is in the final stages of studying for a songwriting degree at BIMM, which again has been rather disrupted by the virus and is now all online lectures. This did, however, allow her the opportunity to focus on her EP, with her first single, Warm and High, released last summer, making it on to a reputable playlist on Spotify. More releases to follow very soon so watch this space!

Stella does not meet societal standards, and she doesn’t want to. Her intention is to bring people together, to share laughs, spread good vibes, provoke thought, encourage the individual to challenge themselves, to question their beliefs and values, inspire them, and ultimately to create a better world for everyone.

Fable – Womb (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, Electronica Features, Features, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Thoroughly absorbing from the beginning to the end, Fable entrances the listener with her bewitching vocals & spellbinding melodies in her new minimal dub-wise single. Womb examines the ebb & flow of the cycles of life with a pulsating beat, epic chorus & poignant lyrics. ”

-Nagamag.com

Brighton singer-songwriter Fable today unveils her brand new single ‘Womb’, out now via Naim Records. The track is the latest offering from her forthcoming debut album and follows in the wake of the trip hop and neo soul blending ‘Orbiting’, which drew praise from the likes of NME, 6Music, CLASH and more.

With its stripped-back dubwise beat and spectral sonics, ‘Womb’ ebbs and flows like the cycles of life it discusses, building from a beguiling verse into a throbbing chorus and a bridge that swarms with headbanging dread. “'Womb' talks about cycles of emotional states, the repetitive highs and lows that I experience throughout the month, and in the end finding the strength to just push forwards with things. The seasons of the female body are often not acknowledged in the structure of our lives and society lacks respect for the trials and tribulations of womanhood,” Fable explains.

“Its meaning is not limited to the Lunar cycles of the female body - we all experience flux - we're not the same molecules we were 7 years ago, and it's about finding a way to ride the waves of constant change. The track was influenced by my love of Dub and sound system culture; my Mum would play Linton Kwesi Johnson through her bump when she was pregnant with me and it's been a comfort ever since,” she adds.

Having built up a reputation as one of the UK's most promising new artists, being lauded by the likes of The Guardian, Mixmag, Q and Rolling Stone, collaborating with Orbital and playing at Glastonbury, the tragic loss of a close friend and resultant burnout and depression led to Fable taking time out from her music career in 2016 to protect her mental health. Four years later, and now an ambassador for mental health charity My Black Dog, Fable is relaunching her sound to the world, with previous single ‘Orbiting’ unveiled in February. Newly-signed to Naim Records, the label wing of the award-winning premium audio brand, she has recorded a debut album of genre-fluid, searingly honest and darkly beautiful music that spans from urgent post punk to introspective electronica, whilst posing questions that are both timely and personal, yet timeless.

Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez – 40 Days (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Jazz, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“This is the perfect mood for all fans of neo-soul music. Classic jazz elements and blues lead vocals. -40 Days- is a reflection of the multifaceted talent to open the doors of perception of this magic spell.”

“Это идеальное настроение для всех поклонников neo-soul. Классические элементы джаза и блюзовый лидирующий вокал. -40 Days- это отражение многогранного таланта на открытые двери нашего восприятия данного волшебства.”

-Nagamag.com

Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez is a singer/composer based in Brooklyn, New York. Born into a family of musicians, music was Raina’s first language and it runs deep within her veins. Rooted in Jazz and R&B, the songwriter invites us into her unique sonic world with harmonic nuance and lyrical poetry.

Raina’s cross-genre style is built from the bottom up. With improvisation as a starting point for her songs, Raina draws on her emotionality and leans into her perception of the world around, uncovering hidden depths within daily life and articulating personal truth with vulnerability and bravery. Songwriting is her way of processing and understanding life in all its complexity.

Her latest single “40 Days” is a subtly complex story about a struggle to let go. Some of that holding is portrayed and experienced as strength, “I won’t let it go, let it strip all my pride”, a stubborn vigilance. Later in the song, that same holding takes form as an unhealthy attachment, “I fought for you when I knew it wasn’t right.” It’s hard to let go and it’s especially hard to let go of people who have hurt you, as backwards as that may seem. At the core of “40 Days” is the desire to let go, to be soft, to live in expansive harmony, and the accompanying choir embodies that desire. Community, shared truth and recognition set us free.

The single is a slow burn. Flickering with a tender tempo, the intro and verses keep us close; their delicate specificity is complimented by the fullness and warmth of the chorus and choir. Keeping intimacy at the center, the simplicity of the song demands a high level of craftsmanship and restraint. “40 Days” is entirely full and romantic in its sonic appeal. Captivating from the start, this New Yorker produces smoky, sensual vocals that glide over the track melting into a surge of passion and honesty.

With over 600k streams on Spotify and a budding global audience, RSG has packed rooms at prestigious venues such as Brooklyn Bowl, SOB’s, Rockwood Music Hall, MoMA PS1 and many others. Opening for artists such as Starchild and the New Romantic, Raina has a deep connection to the New York City music scene.

“40 Days” is the second single to be released off of the upcoming album IF THEY’RE MINE, due May 2021.
