“Family Tree” echoes the classic sound of Sanders’s prior project, Teotima. The guitar solo’s chorused-out yet punchy tone conveys a mix of linear and angular motion, with detours into textural experimentation. Featuring a guest appearance from Cuban trumpeter Yelfris Valdés, the track evokes the essence of classic Blue Note jazz, blending vintage influences with contemporary sensibilities.

One day we will find out if we’re meant to be together
I just hope these feelings slowly linger on forever
Though nothings guaranteed
I think you’re meant for me
I guess we’ll have to wait and see
No matter what I’ll always try my best to understand
What you need and listen while you hold me by the hand
So let’s just take it slow
We’ll see where this may go
What’s meant to be will be, God only knows
And I couldn’t tell you
How long I’ve been waiting
For someone like you
Someone to care for
And help make their dreams become true
At least a few
I know this happened fast and there’s no telling this will last
You can hold me closely till you overcome the past
I promise when I say
Until we find our way
That you can guarantee I’m here to stay
And I couldn’t tell you
How long I’ve been waiting
For someone like you
Someone to care for
And help make their dreams become true
At least a few
I know this happened fast and there’s no telling this may last
You can hold me closely till you overcome the past
I promise when I say
Until we find our way
That you can guarantee I’m here to stay
That you can guarantee I’m here to stay

When inspiration takes a dive
it’s hard for a songwriter to survive
In the modern day world
Nothing special is unfurled
No when inspiration takes a dive
the lyrics droop they don’t sound alive
and that annoying refrain
simply thumps in your brain
And then you try to write another new page
The rhymes are going out of your head
and it puts you in a rage
Your melody is getting away from you
And that harmony’s not going to pull you through
Oh, when inspiration takes a dive
it’s hard for a songwriter to survive
In the modern day world nothing unique is unfurled
Oh when inspiration takes a dive
The lyrics droop
They don’t sound alive
and that annoying refrain it simply thumps in your brain
When inspiration takes a dive it difficult for a songwriter to survive
