Release of their captivating debut album «Monsters Forever» and then the «SRF 3 Best Talent» hype - March 2020 turned out to be a huge steppingstone for Tim Freitag! But, instead of the anticipated chance to take off and fly, the past two years have given the Zurich band – as to most of us – a lot of involuntary time to ponder, brood, ... and social distance. And yet, while musing, «Brick by Brick» was born!

This haunting indie-pop number deals with the difficult but absolutely necessary process of detaching from one's parents - without ever really completely breaking away and cleanly severing the umbilical cord binding us to them. Then, in an ancient recurring subliminal dance, inevitably passing on to the future what they taught us - so much so that the "old" homestead is gradually, almost blindly replaced by a "new" one: grain-by-grain, stone-by-stone, «Brick by Brick».

While the lyrics mirror what is in all of us, front-man, Janick Pfenninger, nevertheless, slips in a few very, very personal lines: with «I've fought the stars and found the moon / I'm riding high, waving goodbye, to You» he alludes to the classic lullaby «Bajuschki, baju» that his mother would sing to him as a wee small lad, still surrounded in the lulling dreamy, cottony aura of maternal love. And this soothing children’s bedtime song should actually be the outro of EVERY Tim Freitag gig – with immediate effect -- from now on: But this particular issue is still being hotly debated by the band.

What makes this debate even MORE drawn-out? Three YES- and three NO-votes are now possible because the Quintet has grown into a Sextet: longtime band best-buddy and live helper, Martin Künzle, has become the sixth permanent member, alongside Janick, Nicolas Rüttimann, Severin Graf, Lorenzo Demenga, and Daniel Gisler. The Timmies are growing, «Brick by Brick».

Achille Lietha and Laura Gerster now, too, have taken their places amongst the cornerstones of the rock-solid Tim Freitag foundation, becoming integral members who magically transform the group's music videos into veritable minor works of art; whether it be from Achille’s Director's chair or from Laura’s studio. This visual conjuring, this sartorial legerdemain applies so strongly to «Brick by Brick» that the Zurich-Six should actually replace their existing kimono-look stage-style with this clip’s awesome, aeolian, enchanted, ethereal costumes. But that is yet ANOTHER hotly debated issue.
