Belzifer, Liset Alea – Beauty in Decay (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

The new vocal song of Belzifer called "Beauty In Decay" featuring the amazing Liset Alea from the famous french band "Nouvelle Vague'a hypnotic yet emotive and melancholic trip-hop song which captures listeners attention fast.

Beauty In Decay is a song about finding beauty in darkness, in things that are broken or considered unloveable by normal standards. It's an amazing song divided into two different styles: the first part with urban drums and the second one with pure classical instruments.

"The closer I look
The more I love all the broken parts
The cracks in the porcelain
The lines on your face
I’m losing myself in things that nobody notices
Yeah, but I see the beauty in decay"

Few Words about Belzifer:
Belzifer is a passionate music composer from France that makes music with his heart and soul.

He writes mostly cinematic, neo-classical, ambient, and emotional music but more recently he's interested in trip-hop & downtempo music, inspired by his favorite artists such as Portishead or Akira Yamaoka.

The young musician has worked with many talented singers from all around the world, such as "Emi Evans" (from the famous video game series NieR) or more recently, Liset Alea (from the French band "Nouvelle Vague").

"Ferat is a gentle soul with a massively big heart and an even bigger passion to create lush, melancholic tapestries of music" - Delphia

"This was a beautiful collaboration with someone incredibly sensitive who is deeply connected to his musical universe and was very clear about what he wanted to achieve with my vocals. The music was emotionally charged and you can feel this is all coming from a real place, not just music for music's sake." - Liset Alea

Currently working on his 3rd album "Belzifer X" and on his second movie "L'Histoire de la Violence" ("The Story of Violence") that is directly connected to his music, Belzifer is definitely an artist that makes art with love - and honesty.

Nate Qi – First Love (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

Nate Qi said about this beautiful mesmerizing song:
“I wrote ‘First Love’ while crying on a subway car. That day, everything went wrong. I was starting a new degree after giving up on music and felt like I was failing miserably. I thought about how I left my mom in the motherland to pursue my muse. And now, my muse has left me. It all felt like a cycle of regret, betrayal, and heartbreak.

In the video, Bao Ngo, the director (Squirrel Flower, Mitski), and I chose a disembodied mannequin hand to symbolize isolation and severed belonging. The hand represents nurture, care, and labor. It corresponds with the astrological archetype of Cancer the Crab and the Mother Moon. In contrast, the fake hand emits a strangeness and stiffness that can never replace the care of the true mother. We were inspired both by surrealism and Wong Kar Wai films.

As a queer immigrant artist, I often feel like an outsider to my own culture and family. The final scene in the video represents a ritual we must all go through: releasing ourselves from the womb, the comfort zone so we can dance freely into the night.”

Few words about Nate Qi:
Born in Jakarta and based in Brooklyn, singer-songwriter-producer Nate Qi disguises struggles of familial and communal bonds as melancholic dream pop ballads. His tender, vulnerable baritone shimmers through warm analog soundscapes that blend MIDI synths with acoustic instruments.

Despite his extensive conservatory training as a classical pianist, he describes the songwriting process as magical and intuitive. “I nearly gave up on music during my fifth year of classical piano training in conservatory. I thought my well of love for music had run dry. Then, these songs came to visit me as if by magic. All I had to do was to get out of the way.”

Nate considers his debut album, Elementary Love, as a milestone in his self-reclamation journey. “I grew up facing bullies in school under the iron fists of collectivistic, fear-based religious programming. In defiance, I aspired to be a queer, whispery version of Karen Carpenter when I grow up. Her cathartic honesty about struggling to fit in kept me alive. I want to make music that helps people get through their shit – breakups, oppressive self-talk, dull routines. Music that makes you feel a little less alone.”

In his spare time, Nate studies the movements of planetary bodies, crafts his own tarot spreads, and secretly ponders if he is the masculine-leaning non-binary reincarnation of Ms. Carpenter.

Birdmask – Set Me On Fire (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , |

Set Me On Fire, the new release of Birdmask, performed with passion and driven by epic emotions and energy without missing the peacefully moments.

Birdmask is the immensely talented Swiss multi-instrumentalist Manuel Gagneux, who first started dabbling in his intoxicating melee of classical, pop music and harsh noise while living in Harlem. Since 2013, Birdmask bubbled away on the hip underground, as he uploaded song after song of melodic chamber pop and what he rightly dubs “pop-rocked-bliss” onto Bandcamp, drawing appreciation from fans and tastemakers along the way.

With a Birdmask tour booked for 2016, a new career-changing project was unexpectedly inspired and took over: Zeal and Ardor, which led to world tours and albums. However, Gagneux is now returning to his nascent musical creation musical project Birdmask – the one with which he identifies most closely – and ‘Set Me On Fire’ is the first of his stadium-beckoning official releases that will allow it to take flight.

Birdmask said:
“I’ve had this song ready for a couple of years now, but being preoccupied with other projects kind of forced me to leave it on the back burner. I feel like it’s about time to let it out,” says Gagneux. “In the time between then and now I was lucky enough to tour the world with a different project, score plays and start a secretive anonymous project as well but Birdmask will always be the name that I identify most with. It sort of feels like coming back home in a sense.

“I’ve tasted a great many fruits and licked my wounds all around the globe and it just might be time to head back home. Greet old faces and maybe even sculpt new ones that might find comfort in this place. My home. Perhaps even yours.”

Kate Vogel – The Truth (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , |

The Truth from Kate Vogel is an empowering anthem for the MeToo movement about sexual assault. Performed with greatness and produced with clarity, a wonderful vocal chill ballad with melancholic notes.

Few words about Kate Vogel:
Kate Vogel fell in love with storytelling lyrics at an early age. At 16, Vogel moved to Nashville, Tennessee and began co-writing, performing, and recording her first record. Not unlike many women before her, Vogel’s ambitions came to an abrupt halt when she fell victim to a predator in the industry, and subsequently stopped singing for 9 years.

A decade later, on the coattails of the MeToo movement, Vogel found the strength to release her debut single, Reasons to Stay, a hopeful ballad born from her trauma and experience with suicide. Vogel confidently sings, in her steady soprano, “the beauty will outweigh the pain, we’ll all find a purpose one day.”

Leaning on musicians from both the Pop and Americana worlds, the result is a beautiful hybrid of vulnerable singer-songwriter music with strong pop sensibilities. Raw and intimate, Vogel’s music captures the metamorphosis of unimaginable pain into the beauty of hope.

“Kate Vogel has one of those rare voices that can make you truly feel the emotion of the lyrics without relying on vocal tricks... Call it Singer/Songwriter, Americana or simply Commercial music if you will but labels are unimportant when an artist can draw you in and immerse you in the feelings this well. ” — Travis Erwin (LA on Lock)

Estella Dawn – Parting (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , |

It's sad to watch the slow train wreck of a relationship ending. Everything seems forced. But someone needs to make a decision, painful or not, so everyone can move on. Just let me go. Piano ballad with lush vocals and atmospheric arrangement. Written, Co-produced and Performed by Estella

Few words about Estella:
Estella is a New Zealand born, Colorado based singer-songwriter. At 23 her work speaks with maturity and confidence. Her songs are a mixture of pop, neo-soul and rock, delivered with an open hearted honesty. While her songs bring you close, her voice never lets you go, Estella sings with the melodic command, subtlety and range that spans genres from Billie Holiday to Billie Eilish.

We are about half way into 2020 and on track to delivering a full length LP, by the end of the year. So far so good. From the Neo-Soul vibes of "Cadmium Yellow" (released in January), the "burn the town down" dynamics of "Hallow" to the attitude heavy anthemic rock of "I Dare You", due out on June 4th, Estella has been flat out.

Not that the last 2+ years weren’t productive. With the release of her EP “Dancing Girls” at the beginning of 2018, and another 8 singles delivered by the end of 2019, Estella has been constantly working. These are well crafted songs with multiple layers, both vocally and musically.

The story starts with Estella singing original songs from the booster seat in the back of her parents car growing up in New Zealand (true, ask her mother). From a young age she glides into songwriting, piano, guitar, music production and recording (piano under the watchful eye of a fierce octogenarian!!) So really Estella has been a musician all her life, like her father and grandfather before her (Andy McGee, lead singer of Desert Road and Max Winnie, Wellington musical icon, respectively) Whether it has been for personal entertainment or crisis management she has music in her; her head, her hands, her heart. Now there is a richness and depth in her voice that has comes from years of hard work and constant singing.

Estella fuses her powerhouse vocals, story like arrangements and diversity of style into music that is unique, honest and intimate.
