Doolin’ – Circus Boy

Categories: Rock, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

“”Doolin'” from France drop their fresh and warm single with celtic elements and memorable lyrics. The singer recalls old moments of happiness, focusing on the importance of friendship. Nowadays, we tend to live in isolation and loneliness which are difficult to overcome.”

-Nagamag.com

Hailing from France, Doolin’ are an eclectic Celtic ensemble whose mastery of traditional Irish music has earned them an international following. Named after an Irish fishing village and largely comprising two different families, Doolin’ mix a variety of traditional and contemporary Celtic styles with elements of French folk and rock music. The band consists of brothers Nicolas Besse (guitar) and Wilfried Besse (vocals, accordion) and their cousin Sébastien Saunié (bass), along with Guilhem Cavaillé (fiddle) and brothers Jacob (whistles) and Josselin Fournel (bodhran). Since forming in 2005, they have released three studio albums as well as the 2013 concert album Live in Lorient. After signing with Compass Records, they traveled to the U.S. to record their 2016 self-titled fourth LP in Nashville, incorporating American roots music into their already unique sound.

Their new single Circus Boy (march 18th, 2022) was recorded at legendary Studio Ferber in Paris, ft the Screaming Orphans on BGVs. The track depicts a man recalling nostalgically his childhood as Circus boy in a traveling show and misses that life made of friendship & solidarity values. By referring to the virtuality of social links, isolation and individualism of the modern world this story echoes the last two years of pandemia that kept Doolin’ as many other bands from being on the road & deprived them of the happiness of sharing their music.

Richard E. Brown x Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava – Paisano Suite: Berceuse

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“A gentle Cinematic piece is out by Richard Brown and ready to add its colour in your music palette. Sound based on orchestration, while balancing between imagination and reality. Smooth progression and unique touch for your ears guaranteed.”

-Nagamag.com

With VOICES OF NIGHT, composer Richard E Brown introduces a formidable set of works to American orchestral repertoire. His lush orchestration gives his works depth and texture, while individual instruments cut through to create musical narratives that whisk listeners through lyrical passages and dancelike rhythms. While his pieces thrive on the suspenseful and dramatic, they are by no means a pure emotional onslaught—for every build and crescendo, Brown returns to calmness and simplicity. His ability to wrest control of the orchestra from rafter-shaking crests to gentle melodies provides each piece with breathing room, making them all the more powerful.

Bayku x M.anifest – Sake Of Money

Categories: Audio, Hip-Hop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“Dope beat with a characteristic sound that slaps that fat basslines to a deep groove. It's hypnotic to an extent with the background carousel sound. Tight lyrics keep this one flowing easy. Excellent production with a quality crew behind the scenes. ”

-Nagamag.com

Off the the shoulders of the radio banger ‘The Gamble’, and following a brief hiatus for which he claims “reflection was needed”, Bayku is back with the first official single "Sake Of Money" from his forthcoming album “Warrior King”.

Featuring his partner in rhyme, the GOD MC M.anifest, “Sake Of Money” is a club thumping ode to the struggle we all face between chasing money, and freeing ourselves from the rat race. Produced by frequent collaborator Mike Millz On Em, the record begins with ghoulish horror movie sounding piano riffs, quickly joined by the chorus, a bellowing baritone voice proclaiming “Big Man Dey Chop…Real Man Dey Chalk”. Bayku’s melodic African/Soul style of word play, joined by the 808 drums sets the energy levels of the record to frenzy.

M.anifest on the second verse shows again why he’s one of Africa’s favorites, confessing “Get the bag feel invincible,... for the bag throw away wanna principles”. A conundrum yes, but one I bet any listener can not resist bopping to. A record you can expect to hear in the cars, the clubs, the markets, and on all the devices, ‘Sake Of Money’ feels designed to leave one salivating for what is to come from “Warrior King”.

When asked what he hoped to achieve with this single, Bayku’s reply was simple. “Set the tone.”

Mount Saint Elias – Light of Day

“Brass and guitar patterns mixed with an expressive voice in a single of Indie Folk character. The singer express disappointment about a person who betrayed him, but a will to turn the page can also help to releaf the pain.”

-Nagamag.com

Artist said about this song:

" Produced by 2x Grammy nominee Jeff Kolhede in Oakland, Ca, Light of Day features a driving rhythm with quirky brass lines, rich imagery of the American South, fat harmonies, and an ear-wormy chorus. It's a little indie folksy, but also throws 60s soul vibes w/ the brass. Set in my hometown of Louisville, KY , where I was working for a summer as a cycling-trip guide, it's the story of trying to salvage a relationship that started perfectly but ended up twisted when I found out she had a boyfriend back at home I didn't know about. Brutal! "

Nancy Mounir – Gannentini

Categories: The Latest, Video, World Music|Tags: , , , , , |

“With bold eastern character and lyrics of passion, Nancy Mounir introduces us to her upcomming release. Arabic vocals telling a story about a painfull separation in a mix of Ambient and instrumental sound patterns. Taste the difference of this song and forget about typical music.”

-Nagamag.com

Moody, hypnotic, and sneakily catchy, Nancy Mounir’s debut album Nozhet El Nofous—whose title means “Promenade of the Souls” in Arabic—explores microtonality, non-metered rhythms, and bold vulnerability through a musical dialogue between Mounir’s own arrangements and the sounds of archival recordings of once-famed singers from Egypt at the turn of the 20th century.

Adding her own ambient arrangements over voices haunted with passion and desire as she creates a sound that is warmly familiar but utterly new. The full spectrum of this ambitious approach can be heard on “Gannentini,” the latest hypnotic track from the upcoming album.

It’s out June 3rd via Simsara Records, with Nancy recently performing the album at the Alexandria Opera in Cairo with the a string orchestra.

Vincent Kostra – Through the Black Waters, Pt. 2

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“The Polish Vincent Kostra floats between traditional classical and Epic sound. Discover a dramatic atmosphere lurking behind those crystal keypads and wind instruments. A track full of volume shifts and unpredictable progression, ideal for curiosity lovers.”

-Nagamag.com

The Polish composer blurs the lines between neo-romantic classical music and modern soundtracks, with a contemporary spin on traditional orchestral music.

Taking inspiration from romantic and neo-romantic artists like Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Mahler, and Prokofiev; film composers such as Wojciech Kilar, and notably avant-garde duo ‘Dead Can Dance’, his sound is a dramatic infusion of diverse influences. Although primarily influenced by the classical world, he will often get in the compositional headspace by immersing himself in trap artists like Travis Scott, resulting in a strong rhythmic influence on his music, whether through percussive elements or melodic ostinatos.

Following his December 2021 debut EP “Certain Misfortunes“, his debut LP album “Gloom&Rhythm” was released on May 9, 2022.
