JoyCut – NOVEMBRE13_

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“"JoyCut" has managed to capture the power of peace and silence in a track starting simply in order to reach a peak of deep Cinematic character towards the finale. Classic instrumental samples are smoothly merged with wide electronic pads and the result didn't left us unaffected.”

‘NOVEMBRE13_ is an expansive instrumental composition, a monumental cut in which JoyCut create a textured and detailed soundscape, moving from a soft and gentle sound to a cinematic grandeur density. Placing themselves between the experimental post-rock of Sigur Rós and Mogwai, the grand ambient landscapes of Erased Tapes’ A Winged Victory For The Sullen and the sparing use of dynamic range of Stars Of The Lid, JoyCut move across contemporary explorative sounds capable to release a glorious spike of dopamine in the brain.

The upcoming album, ‘TheBluWave [TimesWhenSilenceIsAPoem - TheIceHasMelted - AndBleedingGlaciersFormOurTears]_’, is in the band’s own words “dedicated to those who love to linger on the ways of introversion. Explorations dedicated to the experience of abstraction, disorientation, travel, return”. In their quest to highlight these experiences JoyCut came across the short documentary ‘Taller Than The Tree’ By Academy Award-winning director Megan Mylan, which profiles one middle-aged Japanese man stuck in a crisis of care. Masami Hayata is a Tokyo man delicately balancing his roles as advertising executive, father, husband and devoted son to his ailing mother. Japanese men haven't traditionally been caregivers, but for Masami Hayata, it's a crucial part of raising his family.

Using two excerpts from the movie, JoyCut present their news single ‘NOVEMBRE13_’ as the score to this extraordinary story, which invites us to reflect on contemporary Japanese culture, and the demographic and societal changes that have created a crisis of caregiving in a very competitive society. Watch NOVEMBRE13 | MASAMI_Here and NOVEMBRE13 | MASAMI&SHION_ Here. “With NOVEMBER13_’s visual narration we wanted to evoke the spirit of longevity, slowness, fragility, silence, ethereal detachment of the transient substratum of earthly events. There are themes our upcoming new THEBLUWAVE is dedicated to and with the two different visual narratives are offered as another critical food for thought,” says the band.

JoyCut announced the album with the single ‘ThePlasticWhale_’ available as an exclusive through Brian Eno’s EarthPercent Bandcamp compilation for World Earth Day - Download ‘ThePlasticWhale_’ On Bandcamp. On this subject JoyCut have always been one step ahead. Since the beginning, environmental issues have been a central part of the band’s philosophy, made evident by active collaborations with 350.org, Italian Climate Network and the ‘NU-Clear-Sound’ artistic direction, a festival dedicated to green issues. The new album’s packaging perfectly reflects this attitude; “we have entirely made it as green as possible,” they say.

Jazzy Geezer – St Tropez

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , |

“The main advantage of this track in its carefree and real summer mood. A pleasant french pop melody, with a charming French speech, can dispel any negative thoughts. The noise of the waves once again recalls that only a few days are left before the summer. (Automatically Translated with Google Translate)

“Главное преимущество этого трека в его беззаботном и по настоящему летнем настроении. Приятная мелодия French Pop, с очаровательной французской речью способна развеять любые негативные мысли. Шум волн в очередной раз напоминает, что до лета осталось всего несколько дней.”

Capturing the spirit of the French Riviera in the sixties, St Tropez was written with Serge Gainsbourg and Brigit Bardot in mind. A perfect soundtrack for your next holiday on a beach with a refreshing cold drink. And naturally, to stay true to that era, an electric sitar is featured. Produced by the Londoner Jazzy Geezer with the dulcet tones of Pistache Sauvage from Geneva, a feel-good holiday hit was created.

Onyda – Queen of Duality

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“The “Queen of Duality” takes us deeper into the labyrinth of her mind. Its building motion erects the fortress of sound as it climbs ever so higher. Angelic and dark all in one. We enjoyed the trip this took us on very much. ”

-Nagamag.com

Onyda has released their new 5-track EP, ‘Queen of Duality’. The new EP, backed by veteran producer Ben Hillier (Blur, Doves, Elbow) tells Onyda’s story as a young person reflecting on various stages in their life. The ‘Queen of Duality’ EP lands with Onyda’s latest single from the project of the same name.

The EP is inspired by Onyda’s own stories of emerging from personal struggles, discovering inner strength as well as being triumphant in embracing the chaos in being truly themselves. ‘Queen of Duality’ exemplifies the complexity and deep- thinking nature of Onyda’s creativity and art. It explores beneath the surface of moments of personal adversity in order to discover beauty and to find relief. Sonically, a gorgeous duality is created throughout the EP with a nonchalant swagger across the production, creating a poignant sparsity which also finds a richness in evoking cinematic soundscapes.

The EP arrives with Onyda’s latest single of the same name which is released with a black and white video depicting scenes from Onyda’s hometown of Stoke and sees them laying bare their vulnerabilities.

Speaking on the concept of their new EP, Onyda said, "My therapist called me the ‘Queen of Duality’ in a session we had a few years ago and it stuck with me. Nothing is black and white, there’s never just one simple answer to a question and I’m always fighting between inner chaos and inner peace. I’m an existential thinker. This EP is about that internal struggle and what that has meant for my life as a young, queer person just trying to get stable. I’m in a much better place now and this body of work is a clear reflection of how far I’ve come! It’s very personal but there’s a power that comes with being so comfortable in your vulnerabilities and being able to share that, I hope listeners can follow the story and take something from it that might help them with their own lives.”

Inspired by their home town of Stoke which includes post-industrial concrete expanses, Onyda (real name Shae Rhiannon) has descended like a dystopian cowboy clad in jewel-hued velvet, embracing the queerness of life through an acid-soaked lens. An obsessive creator, Onyda works with music, visuals, film, fashion and artwork, and draws upon a wide range of influences from the beats of Tyler the Creator to the songs of Peggy Lee and Tame Impala whilst being visually inspired by scenes of Boogie Nights as well as The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

In the run up to the release of their new EP, Queen of Duality, Onyda received radio support from 6 Music, Radio 1 and 1Xtra, while their recent single ‘Like A Dog’ was added to Vevo’s Emerging Artist Playlist and chosen by BBC Introducing as their ‘Single Of The Week and ‘I Want A War’ has had support from Nemone at 6 Music. A purveyor of enticing alt-pop, Onyda is a truly unique talent and an exciting name to watch for 2022.

dead people – Life Is Good

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“Walking through a world of devastation, “dead people” overcome their melancholic mood to conclude that life is good. An optimistic single based on the 80’s familiar synth style, feathery vocals and its ghostly clip images.”

-Nagamag.com

Following their latest release “Stay Dead”, Dead People released their fourth single “Life is good” on May 20th. Dead People’s previous release was the result of a successful collaboration with Netflix for the movie “Black Crab”. The song “Stay Dead” was the lead single of the soundtrack, amassing almost 65K Shazams and 314.2K streams worldwide across all platforms. The new single “Life Is Good” is a take on a more upbeat angle, where their inspiration from 80’s pop synth shines through – blending well with Dead People’s well known melancholic tonality.

Marco V & Vision 20/20 – FE/AR

Categories: Audio, Techno, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“"Marco V" shakes the dancefloor with his supersonic frequencies and nobody can resist those waves. A defeaning Techno kick is merged with a dynamic synth lead riff and your unique Trance sound is born. Fast, crazy and surely addictive for all.”

-Nagamag.com

The ‘FE/AR’ factor is real with this one when master arena manipulator Marco V starts winding up another one of his legendary tech-programmed bangers. The urge is there to blast the place into tiny pieces; however, once he’s fired a synth riff the size of a super collider into the night, the track takes on a different, melodious, more optimistic tone for trance devotees to latch onto. Absolutely scintillating when his chord changes become a sign of peace and love, it’s Marco V at his absolute best.

Little Winter – Of Little Winters

Categories: Audio, Rock, The Latest|Tags: , |

“Things in life are not always easy. In fact we have to face difficulties and overcome obstacles. Our emotional state is similarly affected too. This is the idea behind "Of Little Winters". An Indie folk single taken from the group's forthcoming album, giving strength and inspiring us for self-evaluation.”

-Nagamag.com

The dynamic quintet shines through the nordic clouds with colorful songwriting on their forthcoming album ‘WONDERLOST’ set to release fall 2022 via Celebration Records. Third single “Of Little Winters” will be released april 15th.

Indie-pop group Little Winter are releasing the third single from their upcoming album Wonderlost. “Of Little Winters” is a modern take on the early 70’s motown, and it draws inspiration from the uplifting and danceable approach to the grave and somber lyrics. Daniel explains, “This duality is permeating our creative output, but it stands out especially in this song. The essence of the song is a declaration of restlessness, loss of direction and absence of meaning in a monotonous existence.”

The “little winters” we all face

As with the band name itself, the song title refers to moments of feeling lost, alone and without a clear direction in life. They are not always present in one’s life, but neither are they completely absent - it’s just something that we all must endure as part of growing up and searching for a place in the world.

Drummer Nikolaj explains, “There is an interesting and inherent contradiction in the idea of these small winters, these unpleasant emotional hilltops standing in the way, sometimes appearing suddenly, but always when least needed. You know that there is happiness and relief to be found on the other side, as well as future helpless days lurking around the corner. It feels pointless to start every single climb but it is also okay, and that is kind of the point - to come to terms with these less glamorous sides of life, because they will hit you from time to time and for better or worse; life wouldn’t be the same without them.”

Ryan continues, “for me, the essence of the song is that feeling of being at home in periods of thoughtfulness. You know, those dark, gray periods of melancholy sitting in between happiness and sadness. As a band we also write more music with greater inspiration during these periods. You don’t take time to think about life and your place in it when things are going great and you are having fun. Similarly, in depressive times when your mood is just hitting rock bottom you just don’t have the energy it takes to write. It is when balancing on this fine line in between that I really get to examine the thoughts and emotions flowing around in my mind.”

Bringing the idols into the frame

“Of Little Winters” is written in collaboration with the Danish singer/songwriter Tue West. Ryan says,‘’This track is really one of my favorites from the new album. I co-wrote the chorus and lyrics for it on a summer night with the danish singer/songwriter Tue West. We had an idea about writing a song with melancholy as a main theme. This idea turned into Of Little Winters, and as such it serves as a nice contrast to the vibe and state of mind present in our first singles, Julia and Only 19. Tue even sings on the recording of the song
