The Highway is the last song that Paul wrote for his debut album 'Something To Die To' before going into the studio. It's recorded all in one take. Nothing but him and his guitar. The song paints beautiful pictures but still sends a clear emotional message. The lyrics are not too complex, but they leave room for a lot of interpretation, while I'm sure they have a very specific meaning to begin with. The song's rather high tempo for the genre is one of the many things that make you feel like you've held your breath for the entire song.
