Lyrically, this song is about compartmentalizing memories and saving them for when you're able to finally face yourself. The chorus teeters between the desire to believe that you had no control in the outcome of a relationship, with the fact that you're still haunted by what could have been. Written and recorded in our home studio, the song began with a harpy synth and was built up with guitar and our Moog Little Phatty.

She’s the Queen is an American electropop music duo signed to Electronic Rumors. Based in Portland, Maine, She’s the Queen is composed of Emily White (vocals, songwriting) and Andrew Kuryloski (production, songwriting, guitar).

The duo met and formed while attending school together at Ithaca college in upstate New York. Shortly after college, the duo moved to New York City and released their self-titled EP, She’s the Queen, which features their first electro hit ‘Waiting Game’.

In 2012 the duo’s hit track ‘Waiting Game’ was featured on the Electronic Rumors compilation album alongside Futurecop!, Fear of Tigers, Vanbot and other notable acts. The duo released two follow up EPs through their label featuring ‘Talk to Me’, ‘The Way’ and 'Cold Heart'.

She's the Queen's music has been featured on FOX TV's 'Sleepy Hollow', Showtime's 'The Real L Word' and The Style Network's 'Betsy Johnson XOX' to name a few.

Jobaa is a contemporary Afro-pop recording and performing artiste. Jobaa whose real names are Aina Oluwajoba Emmanuel was born on June 24th, 2000 and hails from Lagos Nigeria and is from the state of Ekiti. He developed a keen interest in music at an early age and started making music in his early secondary school days, where he was known as Rico before he evolved to Rico P and finally the pop talent Jobaa which was originated from his first name and the first letter of his last name.

As a student of Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary, he was in a secondary school group called “Untamed” which dissolved right after his graduation. What are the genres that describe better your music style?

OLI:
Alternative Pop is definitely the best way to describe it. Synth, strings and I’m also a big fan of adding jazz elements.


Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

OLI:
To be honest, ever since I was a child I just knew that this was what I was the only thing I would never stop doing . I’m lucky, my family is extremely musical and I was always encouraged to take up an instrument and perform.
In 2014 I started working with producer Benny D (Stormzy, Boy George, Kylie, Plan B, Robbie Williams, Paloma Faith). I just really love his musical taste and we’ve been a team ever since.


Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

OLI:
It would have to be anything ‘Sade’. The whole moody/bedroom pop female vocal that is used so much now a days just makes me think of her. I used to listen to the Diamond Life album every night to help me sleep (early 2000’s) and compared to the crazy pop I was hearing at the time, it just felt so soothing and comforting. Thank stuck with me and made me want to add jazzier elements.

How did your song with Dave Gahan come to be?

OLI:
It was actually very simple and quick - the song wasn’t finished from their session and needed writing. I thought the backing track was really old Americana and melancholy – which I loved. When I put down the guides for the lyrics we then realised my voice was actually a great mix on the track with his.

London based soulful-pop outfit, The King’s Parade have returned with their latest feel good single ‘How Long?’ and have just dropped a playful and home-brewed music video for the track. Shot in lockdown, and depicting chaos at rehearsal, front-man Olly explains the inspiration behind the visual:

“We had this idea of a rehearsal that’s constantly going wrong, where I desperately try to get things back to normal despite a series of surreal interventions. We filmed it as a one shot, so as well as the action on camera it was absolute carnage behind the scenes, with people running on and off set, building drum kits, taking them away, moving different props into place and switching characters!”
‘How Long?’ it’s the second track to drop from their up-coming debut album, and follows first track ‘Mario’. Early support for ‘How Long?’ has come from Tom Robinson at BBC 6 Music, who described it as “an incredibly accomplished sound worthy of a far wider audience”.

Lyrically, ‘How Long?’ continues where ‘Mario’ left off, with both tracks exploring feelings of nostalgia. Their latest effort ruefully looks back to better days, with feelings of regret and longing mixed with an underlying optimism. Sonically, this new series of singles (four in total before the album drops) represent a band at the peak of its powers, a close-knit group who have truly found their sound, embracing pop and funk sounds as well as a more soulful approach to their vocals and melodies.

Having established a loyal live fanbase and streams in the 10s of millions across all platforms online (through a series of tours, singles and EPs), news of their debut album is much overdue and highly anticipated. The album, out in December 2020 was recorded by Marco Pasquariello (credits include Coldplay and Snow Patrol) and was produced by Guy Massey (credits include Ed Sheeran, Jack Savoretti and The Libertines).

Their previous video for ‘Mario’ has gained over 100K views so far and has been lauded for its creativity, as the band like so many others, had to create something self-produced during lockdown. With the help of friends and fans from across the globe (spanning Europe, New Zealand, USA, Mexico, Uganda and South Africa), they created something totally joyous and celebratory, fitting for these strange times – watch the official music video for Mario here.

Prior to this, 2019 saw the release of their most recent EP ‘Mad’ which was backed by a sold-out headline European tour across Spain, Italy, France, Germany and the UK. The EP rallied strong tastemaker support from the likes of BBC 6Music, The Independent, Clash, Earmilk and many more. This year, the band utilised lockdown to engage with their fans more than ever before. Olly streamed acoustic #StayAtHome sessions live from his living room every day, for eight weeks straight and they all hosted a The King’s Parade themed quiz on Zoom which featured other artists, including Billy Lockett and Hollie Carmen. They even released #StayAtHome merch featuring fan art of Olly´s live-stream backdrop (his lounge), which sold out… twice!

Andreas Kübler’s life is all about music. He went on stage to tour Europe as singer and bass guitar player right after school, played lots of music and left the stage again to compose even more. His style could be described as epic music, but plainly emotional would cover it better. A contemporary, modern orchestral sound is the basis of his compositions, but that’s all that makes them comparable.

Andreas is one of the founders and the lead composer of the popular music studio IMAscore and responsible for the music of some of the most successful movie marketing campaigns of all time. This includes Disney’s The Lion King, Aladdin, How To Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World, Avengers and the Star Wars saga. "Second Hand Soul is the result of an unprecedented year of change and uncertainty for both myself and the world at large. After moving from the city back to my rural hometown due to COVID-19 I had the opportunity to reflect on my place in the world as everything seemed to be crumbling around me, losing career defining opportunities in the US, but much more importantly the life of a close friend around this time of pain and isolation"

René Le Feuvre is a singer-songwriter who has built a loyal fan base across the country with his smooth vocals, impressive guitar skills and looped beats. Crafting his sound by busking on the streets of North Queensland and taking out local singing competition titles, René migrated to the Gold Coast aged 17 to pursue a career in Australian Rules Football. After playing in the reserve grade for The Suns, he decided that his true passion was music, and set about playing at every music venue, bar and market, where he could hone his acoustic sound.

With a style that is often compared to British songwriters Ed Sheeran and Mark Rosenburg (Passenger), René decided to audition for The Voice Australia 2018. Wowing the judges with his heartfelt acoustic rendition of Lauv’s hit, ‘I Like Me Better’, René earned himself a coveted spot on Boy George’s team, eventually making it through to the knockout rounds.

In early 2019, René set his sights on Nashville, where he spent four weeks co-writing, recording and performing. This included a collaboration with global hitmaker, Katie Cole (Smashing Pumpkins); mentoring by acclaimed producers Jason Wyatt (Jewel, Atz Kilcher) and Dr Ford (Jade Gibson, Michael D. Keeney); and performances at iconic Nashville venues, such as Bluebird Cafe. Before returning home, René also took out a top-3 spot in Nashville’s Rising Song competition with his song “Whispers and Whistles”, voted by popular demand.

In 2020 René was approached to perform at two original showcases during SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. This was quickly cut short by the global pandemic, and instead René Has been focussing on recording his first EP which will be released in September this year. René performed his EP at his first ticketed show at Miami Marketta on the 26th of September.
