Categories: Audio, Techno, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

An amazing deep and hypnotic progressive house with top notch production. Still In The Storm is the anthem that turns into a right dancefloor tool.

Miami artist Fiin returns to Ultra Records with "Still In The Storm," his next single on the label in collaboration with Argentinian duo Brigado Crew and British singer Jinadu. Fiin's underground influenced style manifests in deep, driving basslines formed from a classic "four on the floor" rhythm. "Still In The Storm" is the kind of track that is right at home in dark basement clubs or intimate techno festival stages. Haunting vocals from Jinadu and shaker-infused melodies bring an otherworldly element to "Still In The Storm," making this dark progressive gem with depth a sophisticated production. Fiin previously released on Ultra Records multiple times, including his debut single on the label "Calling Out" also with Jinadu, while Brigado Crew has released on Stil vor Talent, Diynamic, Katermukke, and more.

Xotti – Disclosure (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , |

The first recorded track and earliest written song on Xotti's "Quarter Qoncept" album. This piece represents the closure that was not able to be shared (disclosed) in a previous toxic and abusive relationship. Written and performed as a cathartic experience to which others may perhaps relate.

Xotti is a “contrast composer”. She is a classically trained musician based in New York, born in ’92 and studying the field since ’98. Her flexible composition style extends beyond classical to pop, electronic, singer-songwriter, and alternative. Xotti’s unique style and fluid approach to composition is such that no two pieces are alike, and furthermore, no two albums will be alike.

Critically acclaimed rapper Duckwrth announces the release of his label debut album SuperGood coming out on August 21.

To coincide with the announcement, he releases his new track “Quick” featuring Republic Records labelmate KIAN today.

On the track, the friction between a skittering guitar riff, off-kilter beat and smooth harmonies underscore nimble wordplay from Duckwrth before a chantable hook from KIAN. An unpredictable one-two punch of alternative energy, funk spirit and hip-hop fire, it pops off as yet another anthem from this musical maverick.

“Quick” follows the recent track and video release of “Coming Closer” feat. G.L.A.M. and Julia Romana. Met with tastemaker praise UPROXX proclaimed, “Duckwrth Channels Disco’s Heyday In His Vibrant ‘Coming Closer’ Video.”

Of the song, HYPEBEAST also claimed, “The song sees Duckwrth finding his pocket on the bouncy instrumental that you’d normally hear on dance floors throughout the states if it wasn’t for the current era of isolation and quarantine.” Additionally, Variance dubbed it “a dancefloor-ready anthem.”

In other big news, he launched his weekly NTS radio show SuperGood Nights Presented By Duckwrth, featuring guest sets from Louis The Child, Kyle Dion, Channel Tres and more surprise guests coming soon. The show airs every Friday up to August 28th at 8-9 pm PST. Be sure to tune in here.

Earlier this year, he dropped off “Find A Way” feat. Alex Mali, Radio Ahlee, & Bayli. HipHopDX praised its “melodic message of perseverance,” and Brooklyn Vegan described it as “powerful.” HYPEBEAST wrote, “The single serves as an uplifting anthem during these troubling times, featuring lyrics that showcase the artist’s ability to reminisce about the past and see a way forward.” Earmilk put it best, “The single plays as a welcome beam of light during a dark time.”

Over the last five years, LA-based wunderkind Duckwrth has quickly risen up the ranks as a promising star of the future of music. His collection of critically acclaimed projects including Nowhere (2015,) I’m Uugly (2016), Xtra Uugly (2017) and The Falling ManEP (2019), have transcended streaming platforms and landed in films, TV series, and brand ad campaigns and have received critical acclaim from a vast amount of outlets including NPR, The FADER, Complex, XXL and more. This cumulation has led the rapper to become an international touring staple, headlining shows globally and performing at Austin City Limits and opening for superstars Billie Eilish and Anderson .Paak. Space Above – Glow (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Techno, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

‘Glow’, the follow up release to the debut album ‘Still’ from New Zealand music producer Aaron Short, takes us on a journey of fierce synth driven bliss, ethereal sounds and deep dance floor progressions. Featuring the uptempo lead single ‘Stolen Days’ with Alisa Xayalith of The Naked And Famous, along with other long time collaborators So Below and Boyboy, Short breaks genre barriers from dream-pop to shoegaze to techno.

“Glow was largely about contrasts and opposing forces for me, there’s a lot of push and pull in the music. Where the beats and programming can become agitated, the vocals or melodic instrumentation become calming, and vice versa. I love finding that sweet spot between something having emotive beauty, and a raw fierceness.”

Space Above is the atmospheric-electronic project of New Zealand music producer Aaron Short, formerly of The Naked And Famous. The project began with a series of singles and remixes emerging from Short’s home studio in LA's Echo Park during 2015, and a full-length album titled 'Still' following in 2017. With its lead single ‘Fall Through’ featuring as Todays Top Tune on KCRW, and its musical themes of deeply frozen escapism, the record made for a journey that caught ears from PASTE Magazine, The Line of Best Fit, Hillydilly, and premiered on Consequence of Sound.

Elodie Rêverie – Under the Radar (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

Like the majority of Elodie Rêverie’s music, her latest single Under the Radar originated from an iPhone note, but it marks the start of a new era of her music.

“I wrote the lyrics on my phone early on in quarantine, and I’d just finished The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut,”she recalls. “I often turn to literature when looking for lyrical inspiration.”

However, the LA based singer-songwriter known for her creative beats, clever lyrics and bewitching vocals wasn’t preoccupied with generating new music.

A few weeks later, she was browsing on Splice(a cloud-based music creation platform) with no specific objective and came across a loop that made her pause—the loop sparked her decision to turn the iPhone note she’d written a few weeks prior into a song.

For the first time in her career, Elodie decided to hire a producer. “I love to produce, but I felt really zapped and decided it was important to preserve my energy.”

Elodie connected with the producer of Under the Radar, Riley Urick through a colleague.

“It’s been cool to see someone else’s interpretation of my song align with how I wanted to feel when I listen to it,” says Elodie. “I want to be transported somewhere else mentally, to slow down. I want the song to capture the essence of how I was feeling when I wrote the lyrics.”
