Dov1, Hooves – Deep Shish (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

Deep Shish, is the second time Dov1 & Hooves have collaborated on a tune. This one features a rolling groove, riding on a deep sub bass and some cheeky arpeggiation helps carry the rolling feel throughout. Chopped vocal stabs, field recordings of birds and short quotes help bring us back to earth as this tune makes it easy to drift away to some far off mental landscapes.

In his role as founder & owner of Muti Music, and the other labels he does / has played roles in, Dov1 has helped define the sounds coming out of the US west coast, often serving a as bridge for cross continental influences and collaborations to happen. His collaborations with An-ten-nae, under the name DnA have been widely acclaimed and he continues to push the envelope with futuristic bass music productions.

Hooves, has carved himself a name in the international beats scene as a producer, live percussionist and DJ. Hooves has worked with some of the worlds best as a drummer, including one of the most recognized live D&B acts, Shapeshifter and, more recently, meteoric glitchhop star Opiuo in the Opiuo Live Band. He has entertained thousands in some of the worlds best arenas, frequented the iconic Shepherds Bush Empire and rocked along side greats at Glastonbury.

Sleepwoka – How I Was Wrong (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , |

Whereas for many 2020 has been the year that stood still, for Sleepwoka he has been busy songwriting, recording, filming music videos and broadcasting live stream gigs. Sleepwoka’s music is produced in his bedroom in North London. The strong use of analog synthesizers brings a nostalgic 80s vibe and the dream-like atmospheric visuals add a surreal tone to the whole project.

Sleepwoka’s lyrics often reflect on the human condition and he is fascinated by how we change over time as human beings. Particularly poignant to the times we find ourselves currently living in, "How I Was Wrong" explores the notion we often believe in our youth that our best years are yet to come. The song challenges what we think is important and whether that is actually true, especially when we come to reflect on simpler times that may have been harder but were somehow freer.

Sleepwoka explains, “When we were younger, we always felt that the best times were always ahead of us and that we would be the kings of this life! As the years go by, and we begin to achieve our life goals, we realise that those carefree times were actually the years where we felt most free and alive. Although we had nothing, somehow life felt more Authentic.”

It’s an interesting challenge to the common trajectory of life to achieve success by working hard and often sacrificing the things that are truly important in the process. "How I Was Wrong" is a timely reminder to perhaps return to simpler yet fulfilling lives – an awakening many are pondering in 2020.

Dystopian Science Fiction Atmospheres, Neon Skylines and eternal Cyberpunk Nights with Acid Rain. That’s Code Elektro.

The music is characterized by the use of analog synthesizers and sound design. It sounds similar to the soundtracks of movies like Blade Runner and TRON: Legacy. However, it also takes a step forward to create something new.

Code Elektro is one of the most critically acclaimed synthwave / retrowave bands out there with thousands of listeners and placements on the big playlists - fx Spotify's RetroWave / Outrun editorial playlist.

Code Elektro was founded by the Danish artist, Martin Ahm, as an artistic platform for Martin. The main focus was the creation of mental images in the listener’s mind - from drama to excitement to beautiful atmospheres – and to create the music that he likes.

Martin Ahm has also been working professionally in music and sound design for almost 10 years. Collaborators include big commercial brands all over the world.

The previous records were very well received by critics and synthwave fans worldwide and all were nominated for a GAFFA AWARD for Best Danish Electronic Release (2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019). The Danish Music magazine, GAFFA, gave TRIADS 5 out of 6 stars and called it: “World Class Synthwave from Denmark”. Code Elektro is music from one sci-fi fan to other sci-fi fans.

Bjorn Rydhog – Just to Be with You (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , |

Unlike Rydhog's previous recordings, ’Just to Be with You’ has been recorded in his own basement together with the producer Johan Sigerud. Music and lyrics have been co-created with Olof Gråhamn.

This time the sound is more modern and electronic, but still melodious indie pop at its best. ’Just to Be with You’ could be the perfect soundtrack to summer evenings with friends. Inspiration has been drawn from M83, Nick Drake and Bon Iver, among others.

“The single ‘Just to Be with You’ differs in so many ways from my previous acoustic songs. The creative process has been an exciting exploration and discovery of the music program Logic and the the great opportunities of a home studio setting, with just a computer, some synths and a skilled producer.”

Dario Lessing – Klarheit (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , |

Dario Lessing is evolving the picture of the typical neo-classic artist by not only relying on his virtuoso talent for beautiful piano pieces, but fusing these talents with his unique sense for atmosphere, songwriting and an incredible energy that makes his output so versatile. He is more than a composer: a producer, curating his own output by finding talented collaborators that help him turn his ideas into contemporary tunes, while sticking to his fondness for classical piano music in the style of Débussy or Johann Sebastian Bach.

The new 3-track is led by the moving opener ‘Klarheit’. With beautiful arpeggios, performed with sensitive dynamic, Lessing leads to a chord progression that leaves the listener with goosebumps. The piece is catching from the first note and takes you into Lessings realm of fantasy, spirituality and peace. The track is a must-hear for fans of Ludovico Einaudi and Yann Tiersen.

Dario Lessing previously released on prestigious Deutsche Grammophon, while his most successful solo release was independently with his debut album DNA, reaching more than 2 million streams in half a year. Since 2019 he also released collaborations with Andrew Applepie, narou, James Chatburn, AK, James Hersey and more – having brought him more than 100%k monthly listeners and a growing fan base.

Hugh Klein – Quand C’est Mou (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Chillout Features, Features, Jazz, The Latest|Tags: , , , , , |

Melbourne artist Hugh Klein eases into the world on a cloud of delicate piano chords with debut single "Quand C’est Mou" (out via Lekker Collective). Directly translated to "When It's Soft", the track is a delicate, piano-led offering on the borderline of jazz and classical - offering a wonderful simplicity of melody and mood.

"Rebirth & intimacy: the "Quand C’est Mou" theme intends to shine light and sink into the moments of awakening, rebirth and the ignition of genuine intimacy.

Rebuilding, redefining and coming alive into one’s self with ease & delicacy.

Almost certainly all of us will encounter points during our lifetime where we must take steps away or outward, and redesign how we place ourselves in this world. Whilst living in Paris, France, this movement was drenched in passion, excitement and what felt like eyes seeing the world and the souls in it as if they were meeting for the first time. Finding intimacy in more than surface encounters... desire, words, conversation, romance, sounds, environment, expression.. - Hugh Klein

Who Is Hugh Klein?Raised in Melbourne Australia, following his ongoing career in film composition, Klein found himself living in the city of Paris, and soon giving birth to his loveliest and most realised project yet…

Sourcing inspiration from romance, warm evenings, chilled red wine, floral scents, clothes waving and wrapping the curves of your body, gold and tobacco, "You go your way, I go your way too", low light amongst white flowers, fingertips and of course... the look of love. Hugh directs his musical exploration to his deliberate fascination with intimacy and romance.

With wide-spanning influence from pockets of Blue Note jazz & neo-soul to feature film scores, Hugh Klein is much more than his recorded ideas - rather, an ongoing story to be swept into and carried along.

Upcoming record ‘No Plans, No Rules’ moves through themes of intimacy, adoration, the rebirth of desire and genuine romance, engaging each mood with floating vocals and guitar, brushed percussion, lush string arrangements and rich Rhodes & Wurlitzer’s.
