Nona – Forever Yours (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“When there is a bottomless abyss between the warmth of a loved one and a cheerful company of friends, the choice is obvious; do what makes your heart beat faster and harder. Nona pleased us one more time with her elegant soulful vocal performance here. ”

“Когда между теплом близкого человека и весёлой компанией друзей бездонная пропасть, выбор очевиден; делай то, что заставляет биться твоё сердце чаще и сильнее.”

-Nagamag.com

Blessed with a powerful voice reminiscent of the soul greats, Nona oozes determination and ambition. Hailing from a small town in the south of the Netherlands, she has her eyes on the stars. Her musical taste is rooted in the classics, but her love for hiphop and pop gives her a fresh sound distinctly her own.

Nona released her self-titled debut album in October 2019 and her most recent release ‘Forever Yours’ is currently making it to mainstream radio in The Netherlands. Having playlist positions at the country’s biggest radio stations, weekly live studio performances, a #4 position (and still growing!) in the Shazam charts, this song has got it all.

“Incredible, addictive sound palette in the new album of Padre Tóxico - LUI. Coolness solar breeze onshore winds caressing rays of the midday sun and rainbow rhythm pulsing in your head, this is what you feel when you listen on - Cellular Respiration - track from this album.”

“Невероятная, притягательная звуковая палитра в новом альбоме Padre Tóxico - LUI. Прохлада солнечного бриза береговых ветров, ласкающие лучи полуденного солнца и радужный ритм пульсирующий в твоей голове.”

-Nagamag.com

Music possesses a quality that can transcend time, that's why it is never too late to follow through on your passion. Padre Tóxico is proving that to everyone with his latest records. He has been a fan of hip-hop since it’s inception and grew up during the golden era with dominant forces and timeless albums dropping left and right. Artists like Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Nas, ATCQ got him interested and sparked a fire so strong that it followed him for decades to come. In more recent times, he had that same wave of excitement strike him when he discovered electronic music from musicians such as Jon Hopkins, Kiasmos, Synkro or Stimming.

Just six months ago is when he had the realization to attempt the creative process himself. While his sound is still developing, he has taken his two loves and produced records with the stylings of both, with EDM tracks like "Rugged” and lofi boom-bap like “Summer in L.A.” showing off his innate diversity. On 3.05.2020 after 6 months of work, Padre Tóxico releases two LP's - electronic "Synesthesia" and hip-hop flavoured "Life supplement". 3rd ration of Padre's music arrived on 24.08.2020 on LP called "Mandala".

Photographer: Rachel Green

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Tessa Kaye:
People most often describe my musical style as R&B, electronic, indie pop.

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Tessa Kaye:
I've always had a love and strong passion for music and singing! I've been singing ever since I could talk. I released my first single "Fool's Gold" in January 2020 and it was added to Spotify's New Music Friday U.S. and many other NMF's around the world which was super exciting! Now I've just put out my second single "You Know Who You Are andI hHate You." This song is so close to my heart and I hope that my listeners feel that and resonate with the track. I'm so stoked for next year and everything I'll be releasing then, so look forward to much more music from me!

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Tessa Kaye:
One of my earliest memories of really loving and connecting to music is my little sister and I singing and dancing to Motown. My parents played it all the time and I was always doing little concerts in my house for my family haha. There isn't a single moment I can remember where I wasn't in love with music, so I know this is just something that's always been inside me.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Tessa Kaye:
6LACK "Seasons" (feat. Khalid)

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

Tessa Kaye:

Ethan Gold – God Rising (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“The end of something is only the beginning of something new, more magnificent, beautiful and timeless to us. Do not Let Go - a journey into the very depths of our subconscious. Endless struggle of the angels and demons of our lost souls. A beautiful emotional neoclassical theme by Ethan Gold.”

“Конец чего-либо есть лишь начало чего-то нового, более величественного, прекрасного и неподвластного нам. Don't Let Go - это путешествие в самые недры нашего подсознания. Бесконечная борьба ангелов и демонов наших заблудших душ.”

-Nagamag.com

God Rising is an ambient instrumental track that invokes concentration and effective meditation. It is a part of a larger soundtrack for the Blumhouse Productions' feature film "Don't Let Go"

http://ethangold.com/

Ethan is currently finalizing the double-album Earth City, a record about urban alienation and love, as well as about the destruction of the planet. (Scheduled for release in mid 2020.) He is starting to release singles in the autumn of 2019, beginning with the environmental anthem "Never Met a World Like You."

His third full album in 2018 was his soundtrack of original songs and score to the indie film, The Song of Sway Lake, featuring John Grant and the Staves singing Ethan's songs.

While working on this film score in New York, Ethan fell in a freak accident. Temporarily losing the ability to speak and to do complex tasks, during his convalescence he clarified his vision further. While playing with San Francisco literary rock weirdos The Size Queens, he found himself returning to early influences, being re-inspired by the futuristic sounds that were his refuge in the post-post-hippie milieu of his childhood, with skinheads roaming the confused streets of San Francisco before the tech boom. Last year Ethan released his collection of live covers of New Order, Bauhaus, Of Montreal, Devo, The Knife, and other influences, as Live Undead Bedroom Closet Covers (“Unhinged but weirdly compelling” – Uncut; “Often brilliant cover versions” – Shindig!; “Rather fantastic” – The Crack). In the summer of 2018 he followed this with the naive-electronic album Expanses (Teenage Synthstrumentals) (“Wildly diverting” – Electronic Sound; “Primitive analogue instruments to their sound-warping limits” – Uncut; “Records like these are my reason for getting into independent music in the first place” – Skope Mag; “My nominee for record of the year” – Vents Magazine.)

Gold first stepped into public consciousness when he produced and arranged Elvis Perkins’ blog-hyped debut Ash Wednesday. After moonlighting as bass player in his brother Ari’s celebrity-driven folk party band the Honey Brothers, and scoring his twin’s debut, the epic comedy Adventures of Power, Ethan began honing his intensely personal style while living in a dilapidated flat in Los Angeles, eventually releasing his debut art-rock album Songs From A Toxic Apartment to underground acclaim (Pitchfork, etc). He then began rolling out a series of videos from the album showcasing his visceral approach, which led to side work as a video director.

Gold was raised in San Francisco, during the hangover that followed free love. His father is Beat-adjunct writer Herbert Gold, and his mother Melissa was killed in a helicopter crash with legendary rock promoter Bill Graham. For Ethan, the escape was always into his music.

sijo – Elegy for November (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Neoclassical, The Latest|Tags: , , |

“Piano vibration. Pulsation in the air - it is the breath of God. Whisper prayers at the altar of our lost souls. You feel? There, inside. It shudders. Your fragile, flaming heart. Elegy of our being with you. Elegy for November! ”

“Вибрация струн. Пульсации в воздухе - это дыхание Бога. Шепот молитв у алтаря наших заблудших душ. Вы чувствуете? Там, внутри. Оно содрогается. Ваше хрупкое, пылающее сердце. Элегия нашего с вами бытия.”

-Nagamag.com

This is a ambient piano-song. In a neo-classical/minimalistic tradition. Relaxing and meditative.

Stardust – Essy (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“You dissolved sparkling glitter of tears on my tired eyes, like shooting stars in the dark, we are consumed with the first rays of the rising sun. An abundant sweet vocal performance by Essy!”

“Ты растворялся сияющими блёстками слёз на моих уставших глазах, словно падающие звёзды в темноте мы исчезаем с первыми лучами восходящего солнца.”

-Nagamag.com

ESSY returns with her fourth single of 2020 in “Stardust”. The lyrical genius we have come to know and love from ESSY is once again present, this time discussing finding peace in the uncertainty that can come between two lovers or a story the never completes.

http://bit.ly/TNTIOEPK

While her EDM background is still apparent in her four-on-the-floor drum arrangements and side-chained synth grooves, Essy’s beats are offset by clean, simplistic vocals and introspective storytelling that give her sound an effortless, organic quality. She thrives in a self-proclaimed “happy-sad” mode, with hard-hitting lyrics to make you cry and synthpop beats to make you dance while you’re doing it.

QUOTE

“The song is a story of two lovers that ended too soon – a story without an ending. For me, it’s about finding peace in the uncertainty. And it applies beyond just a romantic relationship. We have very little control over most things in life, but in that uncertainty, we find hope and faith and parts of ourselves we never knew possible.”

BIOGRAPHY

Influenced by her father’s love of music, Essy (born Rachel Braig) taught herself to play the piano and began writing her own songs at eleven years old. Her original compositions and passion for performing secured her acceptance into early songwriting programs at both Berklee College of Music and New York University’s Steinhardt School. During her residencies, she cut her teeth writing with industry veterans Barry Eastmond (Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston) and Maia Sharpe (Carole King, The Dixie Chicks), as well as pop songwriter Michael Pollack (Lauv, Celine Dion), and artist Sasha Sloan.

Fate interceded when a piano ballad she composed out of her dormitory apartment caught the attention of Atlantic electronic duo Ship Wrek. Essy’s first cut with NCS Records’ Star Party soon followed, and early graduation prompted a move to Nashville to begin songwriting full-time alongside some of pop’s most promising penners, including Johnluke Lewis (LANY), Jintae Ko (OneRepublic), Paris Carney (Adam Lambert), Mike Pappas (Meghan Trainor), and Hunter Hayes.

SeeMeNot – Chez Renee (Radio Edit) (Video)

Categories: House, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“We just couldn’t resist to comment on this one. Feel the energy flowing in your body, bringing the desire to dance! A fresh masterpiece with already enough followers.”

-Nagamag.com

SeeMeNot’s ‘Chez Renee EP’ is the second release from the hotly-tipped Jamaican-Canadian artist and musician, and features remixes from Joe Goddard. The ‘Chez Renee EP’, including Goddard’s full length and dub mixes, is released on 4 December, alongside another new SeeMeNot song, ‘If I Could’. Goddard’s radio edit is available from 20 November. Early DJ support for the EP comes from DJ T., Digitaria / TERR, Sam Shure, Rhythm Masters, Kiddy Smile, ONYVA, Roger Sanchez, Ferreck Dawn, Benny Benassi, Paco Osuna, Peter Kruder, Spada, Nicole Moudaber, BOg, xxxy, WhoMadeWho, Greg Delon, Dee Montero, Eelke Kleijn, Auntie Flo, Severino / Horse Meat Disco, Henry Saiz, Da Mike, Øostil, and more.

Tipped by Mixmag, DJ Mag, Beatportal, i-D, and more, SeeMeNot brings both purpose and protest back to house music. Her debut release, ‘Borderline’, came with remixes from Roman Flügel, and dropped in September. The world radio premiere came from Radio 1 (Pete Tong), with DJ support from Skream, Anja Schneider, Solomun, Adriatique, TSHA, Erol Alkan, Adana Twins, Monika Kruse, Andhim, Tim Sweeney, Chloé, Marco Carola, Digitalism, and many more.

‘Borderline’ was included on SeeMeNot’s first creative work, her July 2020 debut mixtape ‘Long Overdue: The Sound Of A Revolution’, along with an excerpt of Tamika Mallory’s powerful speech in the wake of the death of George Floyd. Released via her Soundcloud page, ‘Long Overdue’ featured SeeMeNot singing a cappella over a mix from DJ Oliver Baptiste. The 30 minutes of music is the sound of a Black female artist detailing the journey of Black people from Fight to Flight, channelling the pain she’s experiencing – and experienced – into something beautiful that pays respect to her ancestors but serves as a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional healing through singing and music. Influences from country music to gospel are joined through a shared history of hymnals as both protest and healing music.

About SeeMeNot:

SeeMeNot seeks to carve out new spaces for what is marketable and achievable within an industry that relies so heavily on the consumption of Blackness. A highly successful model from her early teens, in 2009, she suddenly found it hard to find work as a model in New York after appearing in the documentary The Colour of Beauty, a short exposé bringing to light the pervasive structural racism in the fashion industry during a time that it was not such a palatable conversation.

During this turbulent period, music became Renee’s coping mechanism and vehicle for self-expression. She began writing songs in a music studio in Yonkers, New York alongside a few friends who had suffered the same fate. The first song she wrote, ‘Some Of Me’, followed a similar structure to Azealia Banks’ 212. It was the electronic element of 212 that captured Renee’s interest in more dance music led production. Working with Jamaican sound-system and reggae DJs and producers shifted her style slightly but with the onset of debt caused by the recession and possible liability lawsuits due to the feature in The Colour of Beauty, Renee made the difficult decision to move back to her hometown of Toronto, and now New York. The last 4 years has been a time of healing and rehabilitation.
