Andrew Roman – Abnormality (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , |

Andrew Roman makes his much-anticipated debut on Gemstone Records with ‘Abnormality.’ A refreshing modern house production, this release signals new sounds for the California-based producer as he divulges into grandiose basslines and mesmerizing arpeggios.

‘Abnormality’ jumps straight into an alluring breakdown characterized by spacy synth pads and delicate vocals. Warm arpeggiated plucks and soothing vocal harmonies conjure throbbing tension before the track drops into a dramatic bassline and punchy drums. Roman builds further tension in the second drop with manipulated vocal fills and ethereal ambiance effects.

Despite recently joining the Revealed family, Andrew Roman is no new name to the dance music scene. Hailing from San Francisco, his artist project is the culmination of former aliases and ghost producing for other acts in the US and EU. Roman’s past tracks have been featured by Spotify’s editorial team on New Music Fridays and top EDM playlists. He’s also received support from legends like Hardwell, The Chainsmokers, Jauz, and more.

Lynn Tredeau Interview on Nagamag

Nagamag:
What are the genres that describe better your music style?

Lynn Tredeau:
Neo-classical, Contemporary Solo Piano, New Age Piano

Nagamag:
Few words about your musical background and career?

Lynn Tredeau:
I began piano lessons at 5 years of age and that opened a doorway to learning many other instruments including flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar & pipe organ. After many years of teaching piano, I retired to pursue a life long dream to create original music. My debut album Echoes of Life was released in 2015 followed later that same year by a Christmas album Snowlight (A Christmas Memory), which was awarded Best Holiday Album at Enlightened Piano Radio. Over the next 4 years I released 4 additional albums and 12 single releases. My music has been featured on about 6 compilation albums and received many nominations. Two albums were awarded Best Solo Piano Album at Zone Music Reporter, Fellowship of Solitude in 2018 and All the Pieces in 2019. A track (Photos Without a Memory) from my sixth album was also chosen as Track of the Year by One World Music Radio. My single releases have allowed me to collaborate with other musicians and try my hand at other styles of music.

Nagamag:
Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?

Lynn Tredeau:
My father loved the music of Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra. Every Sunday, he would cook breakfast for the family and sing along to his favorite records. My other childhood memory was practicing on my old piano in the basement and my mother would call down the stairs to "play her favorite" which was Clair De Lune. To this day I can hear her voice when I play that song.

Nagamag:
Most artists have a favorite song from a different music genre than the one they are producing music for... Which is yours?

Lynn Tredeau:
John Denver "Annie's Song"

Nagamag:
Of Course Nagamag would love to listen also which track from a similar artist you admire?

Lynn Tredeau:
Michele McLaughlin "A Beautiful Distraction"

Chromadescent – Terple (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, Electronica, The Latest|Tags: , , |

Residing in the small ski town of Steamboat Colorado, electronic music producer Clay Meyer -- a.k.a. Chromadescent -- is turning out an exciting addition to the electronic music scene exploding in Colorado.

“Terple”, his gorgeous debut single, fuses recorded instruments and lush atmospheric textures with driving synths and downtempo psychedelic rhythms. The result is Chromadescent: entrancing soundscapes with subtle sonic layering that rewards repeat listens.

There’s a generous quality here, an ambient fullness that’s not overbearing, a sonic maturity surprising for a debut artist. In a recent interview, Meyer said of his creative ambitions: “I just want to make great music that resonates with people. Music touches your heart in a special way, and I want that for people."

In the long-term, Chromadescent has his sights on performing killer sets at some of the biggest festivals in the Mountain West and beyond. In the meantime, sheltering in place on an organic farm with five dogs, Meyer is diving deeper into crafting his rich, warm, and psychedelic compositions.

Meditative and engaging, Chromadescent’s organic, ambient electronica vibe is perfect for study beats, workout jams, or chill sessions with your homies.

His debut EP “Full Spectrum” is set to be released this fall.

Lukas Poellauer, Aunty – It’s All Good (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, House, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

Lukas Poellauer comes back on fortunea with an ambitious 5 track ep. Mixing up house music with the use of traditional instruments and vocals by Spitting Ibex singer Aunty on some of the tracks.

The Departure EP starts off with 'Going Down' - an impressive introduction with reminiscences to early garage house records. 'Falling Back' follows up on A2: a tight bass is companied with piano-cues, glittery strings and a mysterious breakdown, that gives the listener a sort of a cosmic film-noire vibe.

The melancholy continues with the next piece. "Departure", the title-track of this record is placed on the B-side. A trumpet (performed by local musician Alex Valdés), a vibraphone, a smooth bass and beautiful chilled chords are the main elements, paired with field-recordings from the streets of Vienna. Lukas also recorded some jazzy cymbals from his acoustic drum-kit. This laid back, jazzy deep house tune certainly has the blues in it.

While Aunty was also present on the first track for a couple of lines, her voice is placed now more on the foreground with their party song ‚It’s All Good’ on B2.

The record closes with a danceable rework of ‚Departure’. Tieffrequent label head Siggatunez is responsible for this version.

This release will lighten up your day.

Vinyl is limited to 100% copies. There will be no repress!

Niko Marks – No Fairy (Spotify)

Categories: Audio, House, The Latest|Tags: , |

Facing forwards and backwards at the same time is a tricky production skill in House music. Those that know the roots of the genre well but also keep a close ear to the ground on modern movements and trends are able to work a magic formula in the studio that results in a product that could be from 1990 or 2020. Niko Marks has one of those brains that knows this and executes it with precision in his work and ‘No Fairy’ – a four track EP is a classic example of how to stay loyal to House music whilst keeping things fresh. Keeping the Detroit flag flying high and proud, Niko continues to pump out a sound that’s timeless and fully loaded with that magic vibe that this genre was built on.

Lead track ‘No Fairy’ is an upbeat and danceable number that locks down a classic House groove over a beautiful piano chord progression that slips and slides in and out of focus with some crafty phasing FX. The throwback percussive elements are right on time and unmistakably sourced from the iconic Roland drum kits that helped to inspire the genre. The upbeat string sections and switch in key turn ‘No Fairy’ into a wonky dreamlike dancefloor weapon. This is proper House music done with style and skill.

‘Carry Me’ is on the flip-side, but could easily have been a lead track by itself. Trina grabs the mic and takes to the skies with a glorious vocal that takes you away whilst Niko Marks provides a very well put together instrumental that’s right in tune with his classy style of old-meets-new House music. Niko’s ongoing production line shows us another reason why he’s a man to be keeping a close eye and ear on.

If you’re looking for something hypnotic, you’re covered by the Cheerios Mix of ‘No Fairy Tale Love’ which emits a more experimental and psychedelic atmosphere through a stack of synths that fly up and down the frequency spectrum with a neat rhythmic section. Should you wish to get lost in the music and be taken to another place through sonic goodness – this is the mix for you.

Wrapping up the EP we’re back in the capable hands of Niko Marks as he lays down a piano driven remix of ‘No Fairy Tale Love’ that fuses together vocal samples from the original over a series of strings and synths that take the mid-range through a journey as the squelchy bassline provides the foundations in the sub frequencies.

U2XProductions know how to keep us well fed with quality electronic music that touches the mind and soul. This latest effort from Niko Marks should and will take a proud place on the discography of this label which has provided us with so many memorable moments.
