“Here comes the blast of Rochester. Not the typical Hip-Hop, but some short of teaching experience. Those lyrics of wisdom can give you back the lost courage to fight and overcome every obstacle in life. “Keep going”!”

Toronto-based artist ROCHESTER has releeased “Perseverance” off his 2020 album Dreams Don’t Have Deadlines. Joe Kenney – Reflection No. 3 – Connection (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

“Sophisticated solo piano effort from the hands of Joe Kenney. Are you looking for the beauty of simplicity? Do you feel the need for a curing natural sound? “Reflection No.3” could be the answer. Sit comfortably at your sofa and say goodbye to every stressful situation.”

-Nagamag.com

From a set of improvisations, recorded at Morningstar Studios in Norristown, PA. The upcoming collection of piano pieces weaves together genres of ambient, jazz, and classical; and are products of meditations on points of growth and healing.

This effort follows Joe Kenney’s full band/collaborative album “Forth”, released in October 2020, and hearkens back to and expands on the vibe of Kenney’s debut album –also a solo piano album — called “Afflictions and Remedies” (2015). The idea for this newest collection started several years ago, and is the culmination of creating and workshopping “meditations” and other short improvisatory motives, which Kenney has collated on his instagram highlights. This project has been evolving concurrently with the release of Kenney’s collaborative album Forth, which released in October 2020, and is completely different in that if features vocalists and touches on genres of hip hop and funk and more, with a full band.

Joe Kenney is a recording artist, songwriter, and pianist from Philadelphia. The music on Kenney’s four albums and various collaborations span multiple genres, and are reflective of a cohesive blending of classical music theory, jazz fusion, rock, soul, and hip-hop idioms. Joe has garnered praise for both his original compositions and cover arrangements.

His debut album, Afflictions and Remedies (2015), a solo piano album, received local airplay in Philadelphia and was also praised as a “painting of a piano at work” by Meredith Hairston, who put the album in rotation at WJSU in Jackson, MS.

In early 2016, Kenney went to work on an album of jazz and classical inspired arrangements of alternative rock and top 40 hits. Released in February 2016, the sophomore album 1.5 was recognized on broadcast radio 104.5 Philadelphia and featured on iHeartRadio. DJ Wendy Rollins characterized Joe’s cover of the Twenty One Pilots song Stressed Out as “perfection” and went on to applaud him for “re-imagining songs in a completely different format.”

Following the success of the first two solo piano albums, Joe expanded into different formats, working with a full band and honing in on a jazz fusion sound, while retaining the classically informed harmonies from his first two albums. An EP of three singles would be released in 2017, which would be the foundation and inspiration for the forthcoming 2020 album.

In March 2018, Kenney released 2.5, his third full studio album in as many years. Showcasing multiple styles and varying instrumentation, 2.5 features distinctively energized reinterpretations of eight alternative rock hits. The first half of the album features two full group instrumental tracks and two vocal arrangements, while the second half of the album features solo piano re-imaginings of four others.

In August 2018, Joe made waves with his debut orchestral performance with the Chester County Pops, where Kenney’s arrangement of his own original work Zera was premiered, alongside a performance of Chopin’s Andante Spianato et Grande Polonaise Brillante.

Amidst an active performing and recording schedule with several bands and collaborators, Kenney’s latest undertaking has been the recording and unveiling of his fourth album, which features six highly decorated vocal artists from the Philadelphia area, on a ten-track original album that has music geared towards markets that cross multiple musical styles. The first single, Another Side (Ft. Joy Ike), released on May 8th, 2020, and was premiered by Neon Music (UK) with a glowing review. It was also featured on The Key/WXPN and selected as the Philly Local pick by highly popular radio personality Helen Leicht. The next two releases, All’s Not Lost (Ft. Laura Lizcano) and Gone (Ft Aaron Parnell Brown) were also met with spectacular reviews.

On October 23rd, the full album, Forth, was released to all platforms. It won a Bronze Medal in the Global Music Awards and has been featured on over 85 Radio Stations in U.S. and Canada.

“-Dark Waters- это меланхолия вашей души. Одиночество и безысходность как главная и связующая нить в этой кинематографической работе композитора -Joshua Carlton-.”

-Nagamag.com

This song is part of an album that was written while I was going through the emotions of being diagnosed with esophageal cancer. Although sad and melancholic, The music also conveys a sense of hopefulness. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Oregon instrumentalist Joshua Carlton toured the world with post rock band This Patch of Sky for the last decade. This lead him to compose music for television and film such as ‘Brand, a Second Coming’ (a documentary film on actor Russell Brand and his battle with drug addiction), and the Vice channel. He has also been featured in the McDonald’s Ramadan commercial, as well as large brands such as Petco. Joshua’s excited to share his new solo project. “This is an album that I absolutely had to write” he says of 2021 debut ‘Moonlight Under the Black Flag’. Joshua was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in February of 2020 and found solace in purging his emotions through the music he was composing. “This music is truly my heart, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed creating it”.

The Tame and the Wild – We Lost More Than A Battle (Video)

Categories: Pop, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , , |

“How many times have we been in trouble, ready to give up, but found the courage to go on instead? We may have lost more than a battle but continue to fight. This is the message of “The Tame and the Wild” via their light and charming Folktronica song.”

-Nagamag.com

This song is about accepting the fate of relationships. When it comes to a end there are always losses on both sides. And even if you’re down and burned to the ground, you’ll eventually get back on your feet, you just have to follow the light. The Tame and the Wild lyrics are like polaroids: snippets of real life situations, moments or feelings, condensed to the length of a song. This is the second of a four-song project called „We Lost More Than A Battle“.

https://www.instagram.com/thetameandthewild

The Tame and the Wild is a nostalgic-indie-folk band around the singer-songwriter duo Seja & Flëpp. Its music drives with vocals exploring human emotions among the natural world, sea and stars, youth and age, resiliency and love, boldness and resignation, honesty and memory. The songs urge one to touch those personal situations that are set in and often so tightly bound to nature. The Tame and the Wild see their influences in the sounds of bands such as Daughter, Angus & Julia Stone, Kodaline, Boy or Feist.

“Is it possible to express sadness via music? Listen to this stunning track from Lycoriscoris and find the answer. Melancholic synth soundscapes in a mix that can deeply affect every listener. Select Shizumu to relieve any emotional pain in an effective way.”

Japanese artist Yunosuke Senoo, aka Lycoriscoris, returns to Anjunadeep with the announcement of his upcoming album ‘Chiyu’, out March 26.

In recent years, Senoo has built a cult following as part of a new wave of Japanese producers. His signature blend of organic melodies with intricate sound design has won him support from the likes of DJ Koze, Michael Mayer, &ME, and BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart. A multi-instrumentalist, Senoo has played live alongside the likes of The Field and Moritz Von Oswald at Tokyo’s legendary Dommune.

Composed throughout 2020, ‘Chiyu’ documents Senoo’s journey of reflection and recovery.

“Memories and retrospection are the fundamental concepts that inspire my music. For instance, my own artist name plays on the name of the Lycoris flower. In Japan, it’s often found near cemeteries, which is of course a dark connotation – however, one day when searching in the Language of Flowers (Floriography) I discovered that the word Lycoris also means “I’m looking forward to seeing you again. I realized how this dark flower also hides a beautiful and positive message. I think my music, and my new album ‘Chiyu’, has the same kind of dualism as the Lycoris flower.”

With influences ranging from Boards of Canada and Christian Löffler, Senoo showcases his delicate production style over the 9 tracks of ‘Chiyu’. From the intertwining melodies in ‘Shizumu’ to the polyrhythmic textures of ‘Utsurou’, Seeno combines dreamy soundscapes with modern electronica. A skilled photographer, Senoo also provides the imagery for the album artwork shot in his native, Japan.

Senoo’s new album follows the release of his acclaimed LP ‘Flight’, released on Anjunadeep in 2018. Positioning in the top 5 Electronic albums on iTunes, ‘Flight’ gained support on tastemaker stations including BBC Radio 1, KEXP, and NTS Radio as well as international press support.

‘Chiyu’ is available on March 26 from Anjunadeep.

Cydeways – “We Won’t Run” feat. Pepper (Video)

Categories: The Latest, Video, World Music|Tags: , , , , |

“Cydeways new release strikes like thunder from your soundsystem. Whether you prefer some Alternative Rock or not, you should try this. We loved that lyrics and the electric guitar chords can keep playing in the mind.”

-Nagamag.com

Reggae has a long history and deep, sacred roots as a music of resistance to the authoritarian establishment — it is protest music we can dance to freely while taking a united stand against political corruption, racism, and social injustice.

West Coast alternative rock and reggae band Cydeways has just delivered a potent reminder of that essential connection with the release of their new single “We Won’t Run” featuring legendary Hawaiian reggae-rock band Pepper. The timely and socially relevant single comes ahead of the band’s first full-length album with LAW Records, slated to be released later this year.

https://www.instagram.com/cydewaysmusic/

Calling attention to the unprecedented era of racial violence and social discontent we now find ourselves living in, the powerful track combines the visceral energy of Rage Against the Machine with the poetic and political potency of Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up”:

As we stand, there’s a gun up in their hand

telling us to back down while we’re screaming “fuck the man”

We can’t eat, can’t sleep,

‘We can’t breathe’

So why would I have to do what you believe?

Over a million screaming that they’re finally done

But we ain’t gonna run…

With superbly profound lyrics and grooves punctuated by spring reverb hits like ominous gunshots, Cydeways evokes images of the day Minneapolis police officers publicly murdered George Floyd in a blatant public display of institutionalized racism, while at once declaring a vehement collective manifesto that we will not submit to the hatred and governmental monopoly on violence that both infects and defines our current national zeitgeist.

“The chorus says it all!” asserts Cydeways founder and frontman Dustin Parks. “It’s a message to the negative forces that we won’t back down and become complacent with everything that’s going on in our society right now. Despite the mass unemployment, the racism, the fear, and all this crazy shit going on…we won’t become that. Cydeways has never really talked about anything like this before, so I think the song is also a sign of how we are growing as a band”.

Cydeways was originally started by Parks and Trevor Buckingham in Boston, MA as a self-described ‘basement project’. Eager for new opportunities, he ended up moving the project out to California, eventually landing in Santa Barbara, where he met and recruited Jeremy Baker on guitar, Casey Kernohan on drums. Parks co-produced the track with Buckingham & Dana Shoults, who both pulled double-duty as engineers.

In this fully rounded-out emanation, Cydeways began playing shows and recording extensively, earning themselves a reputation among their peers as a solid band. Eventually, Parks’s friend Joe D. from Iration introduced Parks to core Pepper member Yesod Williams, who was impressed enough to sign the band to his quickly growing reggae label LAW Records.

In 2020, Cydeways released their debut EP After Hours, featuring veteran reggae bands like Ballyhoo! and Grieves. Late last year, the band followed up by releasing a dub remix of their 2018 song “Shadows” (feat. Grieves), performed by E.N Young. Currently, Cydeways is working on wrapping up their long-anticipated full-length LP to be released later this year.

The new single “We Won’t Run” featuring Pepper is now available on all major streaming platforms!
