Skipping Shavasana – Anywhere

Categories: Audio, Pop, The Latest|Tags: , , , |

“"Skipping Shavasana" take us on a memorable trip of passion and obsessive feelings. Alt Pop sound successfully combined with vintage elements and vocals that pull like strong magnet even the most selective listener. Music which can push beyond the typical ear borders.”

-Nagamag.com

The song was composed on the piano, which reflects in the chord progression. The goal was to create a dreamy and atmospheric ballad with a more focused and catchy/strong chorus. The song contains a lot of retro (60s,70s,80s) elements, sounds and influences supporting the vibe. The vocals and melody in the verses and bridge, just as the instrumental, are soft and atmospheric, while the chorus (and guitar solo) is super strong and catchy, reaching its peak in the last double chorus. The song is a captivating journey of soft and atmospheric parts mixed with stronger and louder parts. Lots of details make for an interessting listening experience.

“Inspired by the endless value of friendship, this fresh single sheds light in the darkness sarounding us. The artist opens her heart to all important persons via her soulful voice and Acoustic guitar melodies which can directly envelop each listener.”

-Nagamag.com

Jillian Lee Antinora’s “Lighthouse” is a tender ode to friendship. Utilizing her acoustic guitar to create the mellow and inviting atmosphere which is characteristic to her music, the singer-songwriter conjures up warmth and gratitude. “This is a song I wrote for my best friends. I have really needed them over the past couple of years,” she explains. Using the metaphor of a lighthouse, Antinora paints a vivid picture of what it’s like to be like a lost boat that eventually finds hope outside of the darkness with a lighthouse. “You never criticize, you can cut through all the lights,” she sings, “the world tells us our truth, I’m so thankful for you.”

With acoustic-folk and the sweet envelopment of the cello, Antinora brings a depth of emotion to “Lighthouse.” Thanking God for her friends and demonstrating the strength of the female bond, Antinora explores the beauty of relationships and emphasizes their importance. “I wrote it to let them know how much they mean to me,” she says. “I have appreciated good friendships more and more as I have gotten older. Friends who listen, relate and help guide me through the struggles of life.”

Gareth Cole – Signal

“"Gareth Cole" focuses on the most minimal side of House, with a clear emphasis on melodic background elements. Almost eight minutes of sticky rhythmic vibrations that will easily keep echoing inside your head.”

-Nagamag.com

Gareth Cole is the ambitious Brit who has been carving a name for himself as a purveyor of fine house and techno both as a producer and DJ.

Here he signs up to Steve Bug’s Sublease Music for three slick and impactful slices of deep, techy house. First up is Signal, a low-slung groover with hypnotic keys, and a thick, rounded bottom end driving the track forward.

Iris – Unstoppable

“Charged with endless emotion, the recent release from "Iris" gives courage to every suffering soul. Indie Pop style based on the artist's expressive voice. Creativity and artistic approach which won't leave you unaffected.”

-Nagamag.com

Unstoppable is an alt-pop rallying cry about getting through a toxic relationship. I wrote it to express that no matter how hell-ish somebody can make you feel, you hold the strength within yourself to be powerful. The best version of yourself.

Chris Wirsig x Juliet Lyons – Quitting Time

“Follow Chris Wirsig and Juliet Lyons in order to escape from the dull reality and celebrate Summer. An Electro Pop single with unpredictable flow, rhythmic shifts and attractive vocals which can quickly improve your mood.”

-Nagamag.com

When summer has just started, more people think about “quitting” – their jobs or bad habits – and getting some new experiences, trying something they haven’t tried before. This is at the heart of Juliet Lyons and Chris Wirsig’s Hyperpop song “Quitting Time.” Don’t look back, move forward, get a new lease on life.

With its bouncy beats, the mix of Western and Indian percussion, and creative use of synthesizers and old homecomputer sounds, “Quitting Time” will animate you to let go and dance your worries away. All carried by Juliet Lyons’ shiny, strong vocals: “Quitting Time is our first collaboration, and while Chris generally has a rather dark aesthetic, when I heard the huge and unexpected lift in the chorus, I knew we had to lean into it. I focused on creating a celebratory top line with lighter lyrics - not blinding you with sunshine, but certainly allowing some rays in,” says Juliet about writing and recording the song.

Chris adds: “When I first heard Juliet’s vocal ideas, I immediately loved the positive vibe she brings to it. It starts from a more brooding place, but lifts with the chorus, and I love it when songs have some twists and turns.”

“Quitting Time” is available on all streaming & downloading platforms from June 24,2022.

James An – Sweet Truth

Categories: Audio, Hip-Hop, The Latest|Tags: , , , , |

“The experienced rap artist James An provides food for thought via his fresh single. Straight words about life facts and society issues, expressed with a loose background of clear sounds. Now is your chance to focus on quality Hip-Hop music.”

-Nagamag.com

“Maybe there are forces in this universe we don't understand. But I still believe we make our own miracles.”

-Huey Freeman, The Boondocks

Growing up in Korea, Canada, and the United States, James An is a rapper who writes lyrics in both Korean and English about topics ranging from racism and societal norms to daily life and conversation. James’ introduction to rap started when he received the CDs of rappers like Drunken Tiger and Dynamic Duo, Korean rappers who successfully confronted stereotypes about hip hop in Korea in the early 2000’s. As a teenager, James frequently immersed himself in the work of artists who he could see as role models, people who shared backgrounds, experiences, or point of views that James found relatable. This inspired him to start penning his own songs in college, fostering community through rap with student groups and outreach programs in the communities he lived. After studying for his masters degree in Arts in Education at Harvard, he tightened his focus on telling authentic stories of himself and his peers’ lived experiences through rap, acknowledging aspects of privilege as well as racism, the weight of expectations, and at times turning a critical lens on societal norms. Currently, James continues to write and rap in Korea, and will be releasing an upcoming double single on June 28. He is also preparing to enter another season of the wildly popular Korean rap competition show “Show Me the Money” for its 11th season this fall. With diverse influences, experiences, and identities all represented in James’ music, he is above all a rapper who tells his own stories, never afraid to veer away from any topic as he makes sense of his world through rap.
