Lyrically, the song explores the loss of a sibling and more specifically, the relationship of a girl and her deceased sister. It reflects on the nature of their relationship and the sister herself in a matter-of-fact way; the girl still has strong memories of her sister and feels her in everyday life but she wishes it wasn't so.
