Legendary trip-hop producer Wax Tailor has teamed up with Mick Jenkins on the new single, ‘No More Magical’, released on the 3rd of February via Lab’oratoire. Just over one year after the release of his last album, The Shadow Of Their Suns, ‘No More Magical’ reveals a new project from Wax Tailor to come in 2022. Code name: Fishing For Accidents with more info to come in the upcoming months. Featured US MC & lyricist Mick Jenkins has been making waves in the hip hop scene for the last 10 years with his latest album, Elephant In The Room gaining significant recognition around the world.

Languishing and unhurried Wax Tailor and Mick Jenkins present the spirit of disillusionment and the apathy that follows. Harsh and raw, the unflinching lyrics are contrasted against production with nostalgic fragrances of old school hip hop elements.

Wax Tailor tells us about the creation of the single: “I started this track with almost everything in mind music-wise, I had a bittersweet mood, then I added this chorus gimmick “Its No More Magical”. Afterwards, I suggested to Mick Jenkins that we collaborate. I wanted this counterweight with a lighter chorus and I knew his writing and deep flow would hit the spot.”

“Gaslighted,” infuses a new dimension to their storytelling by adding Banjii’s children, Edwin and William. The song follows the journey of Edwin’s toy llama across the landscapes of Georgia. Edwin and his llama, accompanied by Banjii and Mayuri and big brother William are on a mission to find his llama a new home.

Banjii is a multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter from the mountains of Georgia, with four successful albums in his portfolio (published as Jason Kenney). Mayuri is an Indian classical dancer and a business strategy expert with nearly a decade of experience advising Fortune 500 companies. They met during the pandemic in 2019 and naturally allowed their relationship to progress over time, taking shape through their passion for songwriting. They also founded the independent record label and production company Kahani Records. Banjii and Mayuri are taking off quickly in the music industry, receiving a tremendous outpour of support from independent film and music festivals worldwide. “I wrote this song about new love and all the complex emotions that accompany that experience,” says Elliott. “There’s such an excitement to being in a new relationship. There can also be feelings of fear based off previous relationships or experiences that maybe didn’t go so well. Finding true love is about moving through those feelings of fear and finding someone who will love you in that complexity. That’s where this song came for me.”

“This song is also coming out on my parent’s anniversary which feels so special. It’s my mom’s first anniversary without my dad as he passed away this year. I hope this song honors them and their incredible love story.”
