Florejan Verschueren (°1978) lives in Belgium together with his wife and their four children. He has been passionate about music ever since he was knee-high to a grashopper, and has been roaming the city and Belgium with numerous musical projects, in different styles.
At home he finds peace in his music room. The grand piano - a gift from his granddad to his father - adds a dash of grandeur to the room. This is Florejan’s musical sanctuary, a place that allows him to submerge himself into reverie. The trees outside follow the rhythm of the seasons, and set the pace at which Florejan composes new music. Harmony and balance. This has led to 'Piano Piano', an album that embraces rest and contemplation. It is process of growth, part of the cycle of life. It should not surprise anyone that the working title for 'Piano Piano' was 'WINTER', a season that breathes resourcing and reflection.
Florejan has stripped every composition to the bone, to the bare essence of the song. It has been an exercise in letting go and a quest for finding beauty and purity. Seemingly easy listening, the melodies conceal a profound richness. Each song is a trip, telling a story with many layers.
Who else but illustrator Sassafras De Bruyn could provide this album with the right images? It was a match made in heaven: beautiful drawings as a perfect answer to the multi-layered music.
'Piano Piano' is a very personal record and shows a part of Florejan that not many people have already discovered. The album will be released end of november 2019

What are the genres that describe better your music style?
Mason Stephenson:
My music focuses on a romantic/classic style and features a melancholy and peaceful sound.

Few words about your musical background and career?
Mason Stephenson:
I have played piano for around four years, on and off, and I began writing my own pieces at the start of 2020. Since then I have released two pieces and I have more pieces ready for release in the near future.

Do you remember your first connection of love to music that was the right impact to be a music artist now?
Mason Stephenson:
I played piano for the first time in secondary school but not long after, I decided to play guitar which my best friend taught me. I used to play guitar in a heavy metal band for a few years before going back to piano and discovering my love for classical music.

What is your creative process like?
Mason Stephenson:
I am a big believer of just playing the way you feel. Wether that be pouring your feelings into music as a way of release or delving into your emotions for a great sense of connection with what you play.

Who are some of your influences?
Mason Stephenson:
My favourite composer will always be Chopin. I always feel that his pieces contain so much raw emotion and are so intricate that they will always interest me. In modern classical I am also a big lover of a composer called Eric Christian, his music is massively romantic which is one of my favourite qualities of piano pieces. I find that romantic pieces can really tell a story and paint a picture in your mind without the need for words. I find that being able to tell a story with only notes and melody is a truly remarkable art form.

The music was composed by Nicolas Saad, keyboard player, dj and music producer from France. The beat was made with the patterns of the legendary TR-808 drum machine and its design was used for the cover of the single.
The lyrics was written by Shawn Pereira who is a guitar player and singer for End of Code living in California. « It’s about trying to write a song with the title referring to the confinement period. I tend to write a lot of metaphors and images. The song's meaning is all in the hook. Tipped Dublin-based producer/musician, Sal Dulu is today sharing his new single “B” (feat Koncept Jack$on), self-released via his own Duluoz Records – listen here. The new music comes in-tandem with news of his debut album, Xompulse which is set for release on February 19, 2021. “B” comes off the back of last month's Line of Best Fit and NTS Radio-tipped release, "Alien Boy 96".
Stylistically, this new track finds Sal Dulu delving into downtempo hip-hop, sculpting a bed of rich aesthetics and dusty electronic tones with the tipped Richmond, VA-based artist, Koncept Jack$on layering his vocals over the top.
The new run of music from Sal Dulu, marks his first releases of the year following previous support from The Observer, Resident Advisor, Okay Player and more. Sonically, they leave off from where his earlier music took us, once again finding Sal Dulu demonstrate his versatility as a producer, fusing together different styles to present something which is at once cinematic and also intimate. . Thematically, the forthcoming collection deals with dreamscapes and liminal places, as well as tackling fragmented memories. "B" marks one of a number of collaborations on the new record with additional features coming from the Pitchfork/Stereogum-tipped Fly Anakin (Mutant Academy) and Atlanta, Georgia-based staHHr.
Speaking about the album, Sal Dulu says: "The album comprises fragments of aural and visual memories and assimilates these in a series of memory-based songs or dreams. The album can essentially be described as moving through a dreamscape."
Recorded between London and his home studio in Dublin, this new music adds to Sal Dulu's previous collection of songs that demonstrate his creative process from several angles. Exorcising an array of genres, everything from jazz, to classical, ambient and hip-hop, and ideas that he’s worked with over the last twelve months – largely throughout the nocturnal hours – since summer 2019, Xompulse is a distinctly soothing trip through memory with each track evocative of a different playback.

The ideas emerged from two months in the rugged, black volcanic surroundings of the Canary Islands, Spain. Banks armed himself with a restricted set of equipment taken from his studio in Brighton and set about focusing on the core of his musical expression.
The 5 track EP draws an abrasive array of intertwined melodic structures - one that could only be formed by an adept sound designers’ skillset. The title track and single ‘Tephra’, is woundingly brash, jagged and skull reverberating, it paints a mental landscape appropriate to where the tracks were born, in the context of a melodic hook line.
Following on from his second studio album, Beneath the Surface which was released on Mesh in 2019. Banks’ reimagines a different story, one of which was sculpted by his time witnessing unearthly volcanic landscapes. The change in scenery he recalls brought a welcomed ‘change of mindset’ than the earlier intense period of locking himself away in his Brighton studio with intermittent bursts of time spent by the coast to foster creative thought. It brought a different intensity to Banks’ sound, one that impressively finds a line between home listening and club-focussed dance-floor bangers.
