Sonarpilot – City in the Sky [The Mirage Project #1] (Video)

SONARPILOT PRESENTS – THE MIRAGE PROJECT

A collection of six stunning fractal films with bespoke electronic soundtracks, appearing monthly online from May to December 2020 at: www.themirageproject.com

The Mirage Project is a series of six short films that explore a strange parallel universe of hypnotic beauty.

The movies, each eight to ten minutes long, dive into different worlds, ranging from futuristic cities to deserted machine planets. All of the journeys circle around fundamental human questions: What is our place in the cosmos? What promises and threats does our future hold?

The videos and their soundtrack have been created by Swiss electronic musician Sonarpilot in cooperation with film producer Roger Mäder. “Electronic music has a long history of using visuals as a background on the dancefloor or at live events.

Usually this content is more of a by-product, poorly produced and not something you’d really want to look at”, explains Michael Moppert, the creative head Sonarpilot. “We wanted to craft something more: An immersive experience with visuals that are equally well crafted as the music.”

The whole production took 18 months. “We were working on the music and the visuals in parallel, to make sure that both elements support each other in an optimal way,” explains Michael. The process was a real challenge: “We were using software that generates highly complex fractals.

Some of the formulas took a week to render one minute of video,” Roger explains. Once the visual raw material for a world was generated, Michael started to edit the video and, at the same time, write the music. “It was our vision to create something like the concept albums of the 1970’s”, says Michael.

“I grew up with these beautiful records, with artwork and music that supported each other. We wanted to do something similar, using today’s digital technology”. The result are six different journeys into strange worlds, carefully edited and arranged with a soundtrack that matches perfectly.

The first video ‘City In The Sky’ appearing online at www.themirageproject.com. Subsequent mirage videos will be released monthly from July, through to December.

Each mirage’s soundtrack will also be simultaneously released as a single, available via Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp and all leading digital music platforms.

Any Gama – The Bunker Session: Running Ahead feat. AntiMatterHorns (Video)

Categories: Jazz, The Latest, Video|Tags: , , , |

Running Ahead is an original by Any Gama. It’s the first song we ever rehearsed, performed and recorded. A sweeping dynamic jazz fusion number, reminiscent of Snarky Puppy’s “Lingus”, it’s always our show opener and it always gets the crowd going. This time we took it to Bunker Studios in Brooklyn NY and recorded it live with 14 musicians, including a horn section powerhouse for which we collaborated with our friends from all-brass band AntiMatterHorns. The mixing and mastering was done by 14 times Grammy Award winning sound engineer Andreas K. Meyer.

Any Gama is a New York based, internationally faced, multicultural jazz fusion and world music group. We believe in speaking to everyone in the world with the language of music, and creating a conversation in that language using the tradition of jazz improvisation. We bring a message of peace and unity, because as long as we can all enjoy music and respect our cultural similarities and differences through it, we are all equal as human beings on this planet.

Waiting Space – ‘Cocoon’ [Official Video Feat. Drone Footage of Waterford City, Ireland, April 2020] (Video)

Categories: Neoclassical, The Latest, Video|Tags: , |

Starting with a gentle piano progression, before a swelling-evolution into a hybrid of electronics and acoustics, rising towards a crescendo, this beauty neoclassical influenced theme will unfold your best emotions and release them out, while been nostalgic in harmonic delivery succeed to reset you in a positive outlook for what it comes from now on.

Few words about Waiting Space:
‘Waiting Space’ is an audio & visual project – and the alias of Irish musician and creator, Chris Falconer.

Through a D.I.Y. process that is enabled by contemporary technology, as ‘Waiting Space’, he creates self-recorded/self-produced songs – characterised by dynamic vocals and cinematic instrumentals – typically blending programmed-electronics & live-instrumentation. Each piece of musical-output is then ‘complemented’ by visuals which Falconer independently creates in response – including artwork, animations, and short films.

‘Waiting Space’ began in 2013, as a side project for Falconer – who is also the vocalist of the Irish indietronica band, Ghetto Amaretto. The project was initially a platform for musical ideas that ‘did not fit’ Ghetto’s catalogue – but when that project subsequently went on an extended hiatus, Waiting Space became an equal-focus for Falconer. The project also fit a mid-20s change-in-circumstances, as he found himself increasingly confined to recording in domestic settings, and with a reduced, irregular schedule in which to create music (as his artistic-output was forced to compete with his full-time architecture-industry occupation).

The project became a catalyst for Falconer to learn more about the technical aspects of music-making, recording & producing (elements he had been relatively sheltered from in previous projects as a solely a vocalist) as well as learning news skills in video-production, to create the ‘appropriate’ visuals to match these sounds & words.’

REUEL “Human Spirit” Co-Composer Aidin Ashoori
(Video)

“Human Spirit” stirs energy and emotion with this uplifting piano and orchestral theme designed to illuminate the adventurous and limitless spirit we all possess as human beings. An emotive skilled performance which through its visual that comes along with the delivered video goes deeper, right in the heart, releasing out your best emotions and activate the passion for life.

Few words about Reuel:
Reuel first caught the ears of the pop world in 2018 with album of iconic themes from Classical literature reimagined for solo piano, appropriately titled Classical. The album featured “‘Für Elise’ as You’ve Never Heard It” (-Blogcritics) and rendition of “Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-Flat minor” (video premiered on AMFM Magazine).

He followed later that year with a holiday themed album First Snow, featuring the original title track “a delicate, haunting tune with sweet string arpeggiations and whispery, lush vocals” (-Parade Magazine) that “updates his classic piano training, creating an approachable take on sophisticated instrumental.”(-Popdust)

In 2019, he released Transformations, an album of originals. On the single “Polarized” the video finds Reuel, “giving his all as he delight us with this perfect blend of modern and classic, almost like Ludovico Einaudi and Pendulum teamed up and put a song, this would be pretty much the result.” (-Vents Magazine)

Bellsavvy – Queen of My Mind (Video)

Bellsavvy – Queen of My Mind
(Video)

Bellsavvy is a pop singer/songwriter with a strong attitude and musical identity. Based in London and raised in Brazil, the artist knows how to combine her latin roots and European influences to create a unique sound unlike any other. Encouraged by her mother who was a well-known pop artist in the 80’s, Bellsavvy always knew music ran deep through her veins. Even during her time as an actress and professional model, she couldn’t deny the undeniable connection she had to songwriting and performing and eventually took a leap of faith into exploring her true calling as a solo artist. With strong vocals, catchy toplines and a powerful edgy-pop style, Bellsavvy has a lot to say in her art.

Starting her career with MTV Brazil singing on the show “Studio Acesso Girls MTV”, Bellsavvy won over the hearts of over 1.8 million live viewers who all voted for her performance. Following her time on MTV, she was catapulted into the limelight, landing roles in movies, musicals and numerous musical projects around Europe.

Her debut single under the name Bellsavvy, narrates her own life experiences with the modelling industry and the devastating effect it can have on your mind and body. Following a successful modelling career, Bellsavvy’s body began to change and she suddenly started being rejected over and over again by casting agents. They would shame her for her change in weight and appearance and the constant denials quickly took its toll on the singer, brainwashing her into believing that her body was no longer good enough. These negative thoughts resulted in a loss of self-confidence and self-love and Bellsavvy soon had a mental breakdown. No longer recognizing herself in the mirror, she turned to songwriting to help her pull through. “Queen of My Mind” is her uplifting and self-empowering anthem about overcoming these inner battles, realising who you are, accepting it and understanding it, in order to truly be at one with yourself. She confides, “Queen of My Mind is a very personal, deep and emotional song. I wrote it about three years ago after a mental breakdown I had at the very end of my modeling career. I want others to feel the power we have when we love ourselves. Self-esteem, self-love and self-acceptance are the most powerful things we can have in us. It changes everything.” The songwriter has successfully crafted a song to show others that even when you hit rock bottom, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and with a bit of time and healing we can become the queen of our minds.

Produced by Billboard HOT 100 producer David Lei Brandt (Lady Gaga), the compelling pop song is all about self-confidence, self-love and ultimately about becoming the “queen of your own mind”. The bold new single features confident vocals, determined beats and courageous lyrics, while soaking up influences from other fearless female pop artists such as Lady Gaga, Brittney Spears and Demi Lovato. Along with elements of 80’s pop, such as Depeche Mode, Bellsavvy is able to concoct an infectious sound, putting her distinct stamp on it.

The dramatic visuals for “Queen of my Mind” give a deeper insight into Bellsavvy’s experiences, while delivering it through a more playful and fantastical representation. Beginning with the singer receiving negative texts from her modelling agents, we see her go through all the emotions that come in hand with a mental breakdown. From the sadness, confusion and anger to ultimately ending up blossoming and becoming stronger than she’s ever been before and evolving into the queen of her mind. Every detail of the video holds meaning, with Bellsavvy paying tribute to her latin roots, both through costume and set design, while the choreography is crafted to symbolise different emotions. The high energy video shows the damage that body shaming can cause, but it also signifies the importance of discovering your true self and feeling confident in your own body. Emphasising how the female body isn’t universal, we see the dancers dressed in haute couture for curvy women, shining light on finding your inner warrior and being proud of who you are.

Bellsavvy hopes to use her inspiring story to help people in need, using honest and authentic lyrics to tell her story and connect with listeners on a deeper level. Her music has been hugely supported by LGBTQ+ communities around the world – a community who can empathise with the discriminations that she has endured. With the goal to encourage others to feel strong, beautiful and uplifted, no matter what anyone else tells you, Bellsavvy is on a mission and no one can get in her way.

Harry Nathan – Frontin’ Me [Official Music Video]
(Video)

Just recently we were treated to the lo-fi psychedelic sounds of ‘Sweet Release’ by Australian artist Harry Nathan. That single also came with word of his upcoming sophomore ep and this week he is giving us the next taste of that ep with this chilled late-night groove, ‘Frontin Me’.

Harry Nathan delivers another fine example of his smooth lounge / disco house inspired music that washes over you in a warm nostalgic flow; imagine the bright neon lights passing you buy as you cruise through the streets of Los Angeles on a warm summer’s night.

“The song was recorded into a 1984 SONY M-10 microcassette recorder. I wasn’t really sure what I was singing, I was just jamming and mumbling, stream of consciousness kind of thing. When entering this kind of trance, my lyrics tend to reflect unsurfaced emotions, and it wasn’t until after I had finished recording that I realised the song was about people that are fake, putting up a façade trying to impress all the time.” – Harry Nathan

To help bring this track to life Harry teamed up with a few of his mates recently to shoot a quirky visual accompaniment. As Harry explains below, he did have a general idea going into this shoot but like all great things it took on a life of its own and went in a completely different direction…

Music Video: https://youtu.be/I_AZCOhTOPE

“We made the video with our mates, actors Odeya Rush, Ryan Lee and Christian Valderrama. The original idea was for me to perform the song, though it quickly evolved on the fly to me being on an ambiguous red carpet, being interviewed by Tammy. I entered a trance that took me back to my fourth-grade sleepover.” – Harry Nathan

‘Frontin Me’ is available everywhere now via French tastemaker label, Kitsuné.

March and June – B2K (Video)

March and June – B2K
(Video)

Action and reaction. Two forces encountered anywhere in the physical world are translated on a more subtle level with a single word: karma. The very foundation for the reality we build with every action we take.

With B2K (short for Back To Karma), the March & June project finds a way to define karma in the most musical way possible. Placed on the deeper side of electronic music, where a more nostalgic Sam Smith would turn Disclosure-like dusty bass-lines into shivers down an emotional spine, B2K has the power of moving one’s mind into the ocean of pure presence.

Few words about the artist:
March & June is a new music project which combines different energies and vibes.

Behind March and June there is one artist who performs as a producer, songwriter and mix engineer. Born in June, his personality traits are deeply reflected in his music. Duality, moods, feelings, all these can be felt in his music. He’s not aiming to show off using his real name, yet only to assemble his emotions and life experiences. Music is the main character, not himself as an individual.

Throughout the years, he has produced a lot of tracks for many artists all over the world.

He has perfected his craft during the last 15 years, collecting under his belt no less than 3 No 1 tracks and numerous top 10 and top 45 records.

Many of his successful records are the result of collaborations with Grammy winning producers and engineers such as Tom Coyne, Chris Gehringer, Alex Psaroudakis and Luca Pretolesi. Working in Germany, Sweeden, Canada, UK and Eastern Europe got him record deals with Sony Music, Universal, and BMG and other big music labels. As of now, he is a prolific R’n’B, Trap, Neo Soul, Pop, Dance, Garage, Funk, Deep House and Disco music producer.

All the music he’s ever listened to has influenced him in one way or another, especially the 80s and 90s sound.

Taught by his father how to play the drums at the age of 7, he fell in love with this instrument. In a chaotic world, he is constantly looking for a warm sound which comes from the positive as well as peaceful places and people. He’s also looking for freedom and mood. The perfect mood.

The pop music influence can be felt when collaborating with other artists from this genre.

March and June project will be shared with the voices that he genuinely loves, not aiming for the spotlights.
